I haven't used my Volcano in a couple of weeks and I just realised my baloon clip has disappeared. I was going to order a new one, but is there really any point? Seems to work fine without it.

Its a question of aesthetics primarily, but its also holding it tight
Btw I don't like that much the new ones. The old model was tougher but its also more bulky.
I use one of both to differentiate my two balloons

also there are some things that many here find questionable about the volcanos construction, namely that the air path travels through the electronics and the aluminum heating block, while it may be safe for use, is generally looked down upon in the face of ceramic

I have a Volcano and that's not the first time I read this incorrect information. I've taken 2 Volcanos apart before and the airpath NEVER, EVER goes in contact with the electronics. There really aren't even any electronics to begin with as it is not computer controlled, it's nothing but wires and a bunch of silicone tubing inside to keep the air path sealed off from the wires. There is an air intake port under the Volcano which has a replaceable filter, and right on the other side of that filter is a connection to silicone tubing and the air remains in the silicone tubing, air pump and heating element at all times. It NEVER sucks in any air from inside the device where the wires are.

That being said, I do agree that less expensive models can outperform it, in fact I just bought an LSV and am selling my Volcano, I don't like a bag based system now that superior whip vapes are available, and the Volcano probably was the best vape many years ago before the new models.

I think anyone who doesnt believe that the volcano is the best unit in terms of vapor delivery is probably in denial of some sort.

I think it's more likely you that's in denial or unaware of the other options available.

I have a Volcano Classic and an Arizer Solo portable, the Solo is:
-Much easier to use
-Heats up in less than a third of the time
-Much more efficient especially with smaller loads (I recently started using the Volcano daily rather than the Solo and I was going through herb more than 2 times faster while not getting that much more medicated, I had to go back to the Solo because it was costing me too much)
-Much less expensive

The only 2 downsides to the Solo are:
-Very restricted airflow
-Very tiny herb capacity (the max is less than 0.1g)

I recently bought an LSV to replace my Volcano as it has all the benefits of the Volcano (large herb capacity, non restricted airflow) and of the Solo (easier to use, fast heat up, and more efficient, especially with smaller amounts) while having neither of their problems.

The Volcano also requires much more maintenance having to clean all the moving parts in the valve (I have the original valve, not the easy/lazy one), having to buy expensive rolls of bags that have a short usage life because they either start leaking like a sieve and sticking to themselves making inflation inefficient. Not to mention the vapor condenses/fades away for all the time it wastes in the bag, a direct draw unit delivers fresh vapor every time.

I also don't like how noisy the Volcano bags are, I'm sure you can hear them crinkling like crazy through a solid wall, it's almost like world war going off the second you touch it, and "after-crinkles" can last for a minute or more after you stop touching it.

I'm not saying it's not a good vape, it is, I'm saying there are far better ones for less than half the price.

Anyway some tips I have for Volcano users in case they weren't mentioned (haven't read all the thread), please note that this is when using the original valve and I have no idea if this is possible with the easy valve:
-Start by putting the filling chamber on the Volcano and then turn the air pump on and wait until you see vapor coming out before connecting the bag, this prevents your bag from being filled with the vaporless hot air you get for the first few seconds
-Stop by removing the bag/valve assembly before turning off the air pump, the logic behind this is that turning off the airpump first allows a backflow of vapor into the Volcano's internal air path, this will in time gunk up "uncleanable" areas of the Volcano, by removing the valve from the base before turning off the air pump no vapor can backflow into the base unit

Tired of the bags too

I'm searching for a bigger and longer tube so I can setup a pretty good direct draw
Anyone knows an EU tubing seller ?

Unless it's the lighting you can't see any vapor being created in that video and it seems awkward and complicated. Why not sell the Volcano, get a direct draw vape like the LSV and make $200 in the process like I'm doing, while saving a fortune on herb by having a more efficient vape?

Has anyone ever used their Cloud HT with a Volcano for direct draw?

I may buy another vape later like the LSV but I prefer to keep my volcano. I would never sell it. The bag rips without any draw so I can get serious milk. The previous video is a blank test
I'm sure there is a way to get an easy direct draw on the volcano

Awesome. Thanks for the link. Not having luck watching it. Maybe it only works on mobile devices.
Does it work well? Will have to try it someday if I ever get a Cloud / HT.

EDIT - Found a version I could watch.

That just happened...
Thanks. I couldn't get my iPad to paste it properly.

It works great but is awkward. I prefer using the hydratube with my plenty. Now that really works good.

Great tips, aab1. I especially like that last one. I'm not sure if it's true, but it makes sense. I have to respectfully question, though, the notion that the Solo is easier to use than the Volcano and that it requires less maintenance. I don't own a Solo but I've got friends who do. It's a fine vape, but nothing is easier than a Volcano. (I have the ez valve.) There's virtually no cleaning or maintenance; I've had mine a year, travelled with it, kicked it around, and the only thing I've ever done to it is turn the power/fan on and off. Also, I've never had a bag break or leak, and mine seem to go forever. Don't misunderstand me: I'm not saying the Volcano is better than the Solo. But they've got different strengths and, depending on the criteria, i'd put the Volcano up against the Solo any day.

With the solid valve you definitely have a little bit of cleaning, but not thaaat much.
With the easy one you just medicate and refill your bag or chamber. Its also a little bit more efficient i think due to a tight seal with the balloon when filling up and less condensation area inside the valve.
I can get medicated in seconds/minutes, with least effort. Like a log vape i leave it switched on all the time when at home. You just come back to it and let it squeeze some vapor out of your bud.
No stirring between each hit, no water, no beeing carefull.

-Start by putting the filling chamber on the Volcano and then turn the air pump on and wait until you see vapor coming out before connecting the bag, this prevents your bag from being filled with the vaporless hot air you get for the first few seconds

- If the herb is quite dry i wont let it preheat without the bag attached, that's taste-waste when loading about 0.15g
- Turning OFF the pump befor detaching the bag is the way to go. If you dont rip it apart there will be no vapor floating back inside the volcano.

I can't agree more with you, specially on the first point. Its a waste
You may have to do that with huge loads of not so dry weed.

I always turned the pump before, but I'm very quick at removing everything so I don't think I'll have that kind of issue.

Yep and i think the vapor would flow up instead of condensating on the volcanos hot surface.
My cano got no visual resin on its mesh or plate. Also after some oil sessions

At about 2:20 he uses an 18mm adapter with the illadelph - Volcano Adapter.
but isn't that this....

not this...
http://aqualabtechnologies.com/scie...volcano-adapter-34-28-for-mini-coil-blue.html....?
the second looks like maybe for an 18mm DI of female joint, but those sizes 34/28 scare me. seems way too big, or am i missing something. planetvape.ca has also announced the soon release of a volcano glass adapter. i am currently using their ECTWA strapped to my ez valve chamber for whip to water tokes.

Yes, that is what I have. It works very well.
gotcha. i really want to check out the other, but at twice the price it doesn't seem worth it when i already have female to female adapters for all possible DI sizes. specially when i'm not sure it'll fit. however the graphic is sweet.

Is the Classic or the Digital more quiet? I currently have the Vapir NO2 - in terms of efficiency how does the Volcano compare? Do I need to use more in the Volcano than a bowl in the NO2?

Austin,

I use about 10 times more herb in the Volcano than in the NO2.
My experience is that the digi, and Classic sound the same.

Everybody says that the volcano needs large amounts but when I was money short and had to buy my stuff, I just putted less stuff and still get medicated. I don't see how it is less efficient than others vapes. Of course you can waste weed more easily with the volcano, condensation in the balloon is a pain in the ass. You gotta finish em in like 5 minutes if you want to minimize loss.
Never inflate big for personal use also. Half or third fill does the job better with small amounts

I'm searching some glass to force the vapors from a easy valve chamber to my bubbler
The pump can be a real plus for that kind of application, but I'm not sure there's a way to do that conveniently

You don't need to, but with a bigger chamber you tend to put more.

No you don't need to use more, in fact it is preferred that you use the amount you use in the no2. A lot of people tend to use more in the volcano because the bowl is so big, but it's big like that so air can go through, and around, the herb for efficient extraction. If you put too much in the bowl the temperature will drop, and the temperature you want won't be that temperature inside the bowl, which means improper extraction. When you use a small amount this doesn't happen. Using .05-.10 grams is good enough and just refill when you want more.

Make sure you go to 396f or 7.5 and vape for six bags to get all the cannabinoids extracted, according to a dr.hornby study. Anything below that will be mostly essential oils(taste, odor, and some high), and the cannabinoids cbd, cbn, but very little thc. You can also raise the temperature in increments, if you don't want to burn the low boiling oils at such a high temperature, and then raise it to 396-417f to get the cannabinoids. An example would be to start at 365f for your first bag, then go to 396f for six bags or 417f for 3 bags as the higher you go in temperature, the quicker the extraction so less bags are needed.

You need new O-rings Cash. You're leaking vapor all over the place. Nice vid though.
