First Presidential Debate - Your Thoughts?

Discuss the debate between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.

Romney won the debate...even NBC admitted that which is hard for them to do because they lean left. Fox News of course leans right and agreed that Romney won. The President seemed unprepared because he's not used to getting tough questions and getting called out on things in public. Romney was really aggressive and drew a line in the sand between his views and President Obama's.

I'm an independent who used to be full Republican and right now I'm very much in favor of voting for Mitt Romney but I'm not going to finalize my choice until after all the debates are over. The problem to me is the voting system which is why I agree with the proposals to require ID when going to vote. It's not that difficult for someone with a little bit of money to throw around to go to a poor town and tell them to go down to the local polling place and vote for (insert candidate of choice)...all for some easy cash. Prove it, right? That's the hard part, however if you look at the last election you will see tons of news references to shady voting circumstances....ACORN ring a bell to anyone??

I feel that a lot of people in the 18-30 age bracket don't spend too much time focusing on the issues, they just vote for who they're friends are voting for, or what they "heard" a candidate is going to do, or who has better speech writers and seems more "cool", etc. Tonight they didn't see Mr. Cool, they saw an unprepared President who never capitalized on the "47" comment or mentioned his own Stimulus/record during his first 4 years. Mitt Romney articulated very well during the debate and always responded to the false claims of President Obama which I think was a great idea...he didn't give up, he responded point by point, and called the President out. I loved the "I've been in business for 25 years and have no idea what you're talking about" along with some other moments.

Another thing to understand is that the major television networks as a whole favor/lean left wing (in favor of Obama)...CBS, NBC, ABC all lean left...CNN is about 55% left 45% right.....MSNBC major left....Fox News major right. The odds are well to the left agenda that's why it's so important for people to check all the facts and come to their own choice on their own. NONE of the TV media outlets provide a completely unbiased reporting of the candidates although they claim they do.

Before you respond, remember that it's OK to have different views. I don't deserve to be bashed by those of you who don't agree. Let's agree to respectfully disagree, ok? =)

Other than you stance on the voter ID issue, I agree with everything else you said above.

Obama better wake up and get a fire in his belly if he's going to win this thing. It almost seemed like he totally believed in the polls and that all he needed to do was to show up to win. Wrong.

For me, I think it was more of Obama losing this debate rather than Romney winning it, if ya know what I mean. Romney was good, but not stellar. Obama was just plain……………..flat.

I think we'll see a different Obama in the next debate. If we don't, Romney is going to win the whole enchilada, which brings up another question. Do ya think that the election hinges on these debates…………….or not?

When Obama walked up to the podium stand and he said to the man running the stand, "Hey!"....bop bop bop..."Got Any Grapes?"...then he waddled away.....waddle waddle, then he waddled away, waddle waddle waddle. :lmao:

About the only voter fraud that occurs is, like you say, the buying of votes, but there's not a large number, it's local elections, and not affected by voter ID laws.
ACORN was about voter registration fraud, not voter fraud. There's a company that was just doing the same sort of things as ACORN in Florida and other states. Why isn't it worthy of much attention on FOX now? Could be because the GOP was paying for their services.
This is drummed up bullshit so they can pass laws that will keep more non-GOP than GOP voters from exercising their right to vote.

FOX news fact check said: "Technically, companies can claim a deduction for the costs associated with moving jobs overseas." A normal moving expense that Romney is unaware of. Good line though.

obama looked bored and cold during much of the debate.

i felt like Romney came out on top for sure.

The only thing that could make me vote for obama is full MJ legalization. Besides that stipulation, ill NEVER vote for Obama.

Still not convince on Romney though. I think hes got some interesting ideas though. Definitely tuning in for the next debate. I wish they had more candidates though.

Yo folks, Romney made Obama look like.... Bush.
There were so many missed opportunites for Obama.
The environment is why Obama gave 90 bill to green energy.
Romney wants jobs like fracking and pipelines from Canada,
these oil based industries are very harmful to the long time
environment, I digress.. funny we all saw the same thing.
I'm not voting for Romney, but he has impressed me.
Yes caseball I agree, this two party shit is dangerous.

Yeah, I really don't like either of them now, but for different reasons.

It's funny. These debates were supposed to sway the undecided voters one way or the other. What may have happened, however, is that, at least THIS debate, may have actually increased the ranks of undecided voters.

While Obama didn't do well at all, I don't believe that anyone who was already decided to vote for Obama, will switch to Romney. What I DO believe though is some of the decided Obama voters have gone into the undecided camp, at least for now.

Momentum, Romney. Things can change though.

It's kinda like watching a pro basketball game. The momentum shifts throughout the game, and it's really obvious when it shifts one way or the other. Obama had the momentum going into the debate. It has now shifted, but the score is still pretty tight.

It's funny. Before the debate, liberals were saying that Obama was going to win by a landslide. Now, conservatives are saying that Romney is going to win by a landslide. At this point time, neither is correct.

I don't like Romney but I think he did better than Obama. Even though Romney is full of crap, he is very convincing.

Because the guy who he was debating against NEVER called him out on those lies.

If he wasted all his time calling out Mitt's lies, then he would not get any words of his own in. And I believe the moderator has a purpose besides just sitting in front of the two debaters. People want to know where Obama was, I want to know where the moderator was? He let Mitt take complete control, even speaking out of turn.

I'm not worried, Obama has never been the best debater, Hilary showed us all that in the 08 debates. But I have a good feeling that the Obama campaign is just letting Mitt tie himself up in more contradicting lies. There are two more debates, and those are when I believe Obama will keep pushing Romney to actually tell us what any of his plans are, not just general statements.

But still, the liar is never the winner. That's just silly.

I don't think those who benefit from social security, medicare, disability think it's silly. I also enjoy many benefits that the Government provides through the use of my taxes. The childish behavior and lack of ethics and morals by many elected officials is silly, but that is not the whole Government. The silliest part is not the government, but the morons who keep voting against their own interest because abortion, gay marriage, and war is more important I guess. If people could learn to pay attention and use some critical thinking, then we would not have such a "silly" government.

An example: any middle class American who has thought for even a split second that Mitt Romney is "their" guy. That's silly as all hell.

Biden did what Obama needed to do last night. It was pretty amazing to see a Democrat actually stand up for the truth, and dispute so many of the lies that are spewed by people who either don't know any better, or know all too well.

Yup. At least Biden showed up.

But……….in just about EVERY poll out there polling the undecideds, they were either tied, or Ryan led by a bit.

But if I were asked, I think Biden won it.

I think the VP debate was a tie. Yes Biden was more aggressive but he was borderline immature sometimes which doesn't make him look good.

off topic:
I'm just throwing this out there...with almost 6,500 posts on this forum, what do you do for fun lwien? It makes it look like your entire life is based around these forums. Do you get out much? The only people who should have that many posts in a place like this are the rich or the unemployed. lol just busting on you but still....almost 6,500 posts? I just hope it's not something like you're so lonely that you have no where else to turn to than here on a daily basis. Hey at least it shows that you're a social guy who likes to discuss anything and everything. I'm anxious for debate round #2 tomorrow night!

I like these forums but it's not the best place for non-vapor discussion, lol.

Actually that's what The Vapor Lounge section is for, "Off Topic Fun" just as the subtitle states. What's the purpose of calling lwien out on his post count? I think that's really off base. And just so you know, I come to FC multiple times a day, what does that mean about my character?

You can warn me until the cows come home, I really don't care. You don't need to have an account to read posts on this forum and if you did, it wouldn't be hard to create a new account. There is little to no information on this site that I can't find elsewhere...

I got a warning for joking around? I even stated that I was just busting on him and even complimented him at the end....wtf? Give me a break! The mod clearly didn't read the entire post or must have completely misinterpreted what I stated.

Take a toke and relax...it was a JOKE. I have been conversing with lwien for a long time now and I'm pretty sure he and I are on the same page of respectfully agreeing to disagree. I doubt that he took my post personal because most logical people would understand I was just ribbing him. So much for peace and love...

Ya know, I was going to seriously answer this and give you a quick synopsis of my current lifestyle condition just to give you a bit of a better understanding, but after reading your post above that you directed to the mods, I think I'll just let it go, not because I agree with you that it was a joke, but because of your total disrespect for the mods here.

The only time I mentioned the mods was here...

"I got a warning for joking around? I even stated that I was just busting on him and even complimented him at the end....wtf? Give me a break! The mod clearly didn't read the entire post or must have completely misinterpreted what I stated."

How is that being disrespectful???????????? I was warned for nothing...It was a joke that the mod either didn't read or MISINTERPRETED. Therefore nothing I stated above is untrue. You're trying to stir trouble when there isn't any. I didn't disrespect or say anything bad about the mod...I'm frustrated that the mod misinterpreted my post but I'm over it...I've explained myself, vented a little bit, now lets move on and just get along!
