So yesterday I recieved my 18" Rooster Apparatus this is my first scientific glass purchase and I couldn't be happier. it's a bit smaller then I was expecting but that's actually for the best. The base is very large and stable. I am hooking it up to my SSV and it's nice to have all gong connections now for clearing the tube. I tried dabbing out if it last night but the torch I am using is really hot and I don't know if I am heating the nail too quickly for it to retain heat, some of oil was still on the ti nail. It was my first time dabbing but it definitely wasn't harsh with the fritter but i have no basis for comparison either. The taste hasn't seemed to suffer from the high diffusion as far as I can tell. I would have posted this yesterday but I was to entranced by the small bubbles generated by the Rooster Apparatus. I love this thing, and It gets two big  from me

Nice! Did you get the DI or the convertible? I ordered the 14" convertible from NVS and its my first big glass purchase. Should be here Wednesday hopefully but PA is pretty far from Oregon. Gotta call and get my tracking # today. :D

Congrats man you'll love it. I got the Di. I am still amazed by this thing and how ridiculously high it can stack. With the drag of a 3' whip and the SSV it can still stack half the 18' tube. Dry, it can stack the whole tube and can even give you a lil kiss with the right pull. Its freaking awesome to watch. :science:

In other news, I got a proper torch today and tried the nail again. Took a fat dab and it still wasn't that harsh, no coughing. Wasn't impressed by the flavor but the oil does look a bit dark and goopy so that could be the culprit. The oil still didnt vape all the way but it could be my technique. I am going to try a different dabber next time and see if it helps with this unstable runny oil. That one dab was pretty effective though for medicating. Comparable to vaping about 1/2 a crucible of high grade in my standard ssv wand. Very convenient

I'm interested in getting a dg for use with my cloud. Can anyone recommend a model that fits well with the cloud and doesn't sit too close to your face? I saw a few pages back that he might be making a fritted disk setup with the cloud in mind, if thats the case maybe I will hold off as I would definitely be interested in something like that. I live in portland so i was thinking about checking out nvs tomorrow.

I was drunk. Don't mind me nothing to see here lol.

I have the convertible and the cloud sits great without an adapter. Not in your face either.

Lmao

@keegan My DG came right when I was leaving the house for almost 5 hrs. USPS came right when I was leaving on a saturday. I was lucky to get it. But for 4.5 hours I had to wait to see if my DG even arrived all in one piece. Time definitely like it had slowed down to the pace of molasses.

How high is everybody filling their DG tubes? I have been going about 1" 1/4 above my frit. Which I wonder is if it's too much, but it still pulls fine and I am wondering if it would be helpful cause the frit utilizes so much of the water stacking....... Any thoughts?

I usually fill my mini can to about 1 cm above the frit.
For my 14" Convertible, it's more like 1.5-2cm above the frit.

I got my fritted disc about 2 weeks ago and love it so far. I got the 14" convertible.

For vaping I use my solo w/ eds wood stem and a low pro 18 to 14 reducer. I really enjoy the set up but it can be tough to pull on. I keep the water level equal to or right below the disc and it seems to work best for vaping. Kinda off topic but how do you guys think the PVHES GonG stems will compare to Eds stems for waterpipe usage when they come out?

Also I do combust through the DG sometimes. Girlfriend vapes sometimes but she is still mostly a smoker. It works really really well for flowers. Super smooth. I just rock a carbon filter I picked up from my LHS and it's a great combo and keeps the DG super clean.

Still haven't gotten to try oil since I live in a non medical state and don't have hook ups for that but I have about 7 gs of ABV and once I have a half I'll probably attempt to make some.

I've been messing with the water temperature as well and it really affects how it bubbles. For some reason when I use hot water I can't get it to bubble worth a shit. It seems that the colder the water the better it bubbles even though I'm pretty sure it's just aesthetic and it works the same either way.

Btw I have been seeing a lot of new unique DGs on ALT. The other day I saw a 65 mm colored disc straight tube but they called it a Jim Dandy. Anyone know what that's about? Also there is a sick new DG with a different style can and a Greatful Dead fritted disc. Would love to see an FC member pick it up. I think they just posted it today.

Edit: Actually they posted a bunch of sweet new ones. I see a yin yang disc and a bunch of different colored discs.

Btw my instagram pics have a bunch of DG photos in them if anyone's interested. I was going to upload them on here but I was having issues doing it on my phone and I don't have a pc. Just look for pizzaroll22! Sorry if this is against any rules.

Damn those new style convertibles are $550!!! I fucking got a deal on mine then lol. I haven't posted it in a while so here it is again.

Here it is with the cloud. That is with barely any water in it either. I stopped the vid at that point because I was coughing my ass off lol.

A pic from NVS where I got it.

Fuuuuuuck. Just broke my adapter. :( I applied some joint wax to the male joint of my DG and twisted the adaptor on and it cracked. I wasn't even straining or putting much effort. Might be since im on my balcony and it's kinda cold outside.

Btw I think those $550 ones are the 65mm disc instead of the 50mm but I'm not sure?

True. I was just thinking that. It still sucks that it's such a weird sized adaptor that I have to order it online.

You should hit up oregonglassblower on ioffer.com. He doesn't have one listed, but I bet he can make it. His male/male 18mm is $24, so he'll probably do it for the same (maybe less, when you ask him).

For folks having adapter issues, mine was getting really stuck. With the heat and weight of the Cloud, it would get pressed on there, and then when everything cooled down it wasn't moving at all. At first I thought Joint Wax was going to be the answer but when I went to order some I found this instead:

Made by the same company its the perfect viscosity. I simply apply a good amount to my index finger, getting it nice and warm, then apply it to the 24mm FEMALE end of the adapter. Don't apply it to the male joint like the instructions say. My method uses less product, puts that product in the appropriate place more easily, and creates less mess in the end.

If any of you are having adapters made, you might consider asking for a 45* bend while you're at it :)

So I broke my stove pipe adapter the other day. I did a dab then went to use the ssv took my first rip and on the clear my whip adapter stuck to the claim on my dbl female and decided to unstick over my garage floor seconds later crashing to floor. So I was browsing on planet vape and was wondering which kind you all think would work best.......another straight 18mm dbl fem , a 18mm dbl fem 45 deg, or a 18 to 14mm dbl female so I don't need the whip adapter?
