This big, long sherlock has the added advantage of -possibly- being useful as a stemless bubbler. I asked in the comments for the artists to extend out the portion after the U joint a bit for this purpose, if in fact they're made to order.

Just ordered the 18.8 mm sherlock and a 19mm to 14mm flush conversion piece that I've needed for about 4 years.

Etsy is pretty damn cool, and the glass artists all have great prices. Too bad there are less than 10 of them it seems, and Cleadome's ass, the guy I REALLY REALLY want to buy from, it awol on his vaporizers.

vaporstar looks like my kind of vaporizer. ordered one from their site got a order accepted email. haven't heard a thing since - 9 days now. emailed dave@vaporstar.co.uk - did order ship? no response.

what was your experience ordering from site?

sometimes ordering from the actual vaporstar website can take up to three weeks to get. I got mine 18 days after I ordered. My friend took 4 weeks for his to arrive. we both ordered ours from dave.

I got mine from vaporstar Dave in about 8-9 days. He was always good about responding to emails too. You don't say when you emailed, so it's hard to say if you're really overdue for a reply yet.

emailed 10/14/10 seems overdue for response. emailed him again today.

first email 10/14: Wondering if this order has shipped? Is there a tracking number?

On the vaporstar website it clearly states "Please allow 21 Days for Delivery"... so i wouldn't worry quite just yet. I know in the past Dave tended to travel alot and didn't get around the internet that often.

Hi guys, it's been like 6 months since I got my VaporStar (my first vape), it's awesome.

Thing is that sometimes the hits are a little harsh to my throat, so I'm thinking about getting a bong with an ice chamber and a diffuser to get smoother hits.

Keeping in mind the vapor volume that a VaporStar can give, what do you thing about this setup for $76 US dollars? Please keep in mind that it gonna be my very first bong.

250 cm3 EHLE straight bong ($49) + EHLE diffuser ($27)

Any suggestions?

I couldn't say, as far as the best unit for the Vaporstar, but EHLE is a great brand for the money.

Other important question: How can I know for sure that the VaporStar bowl will fit into the diffuser bowl?

It seems to me that it will not fit :-(

It fits, I use a similar type bong, which has a 14.5 GonG connection... it fits in my downstem perfectly. I also used to have a similar EHLE and it worked in that as well.

I have one older 14mm bong which has its downstem fixed semi-permanent style with a rubber grommet. It is too narrow for the stem of the vaporstar and is not compatible, so be wary.

Or you can use the vaporstar in a GonG Bong without water and no downstem, which is similar to the initial set up sold on the vaporstar website. However if you only have a grommet type bong then you have to worry if there is no carb to clear the bong will have to pull the VS out of grommet to clear bong. That is if the Vaporstar is too long.
I have had the VS be too long to use for my bubbler at work, I ended up having to cut off 1/4 inch off the bottom of the vaporstar to make it fit.

The Vaporstar will fit an 18mm joint. Right? I know that it's labeled as being used on 14mm but 18mm would work too wouldnt it?

It is supposed to fit an 18 as well, although I have never tried. I've only owned glass with 14.

When it "fits an 18," what's meant is that you're holding the rounded out, larger portion of the bowl in a place where it really doesn't fit. You can get a functional seal, but you'll be holding it there. You can purchase conversion pieces which will move the 18 down to a 14mm, or you could purchase the glass vapo-bowl, which is 18mm and IMO a vastly better product, not to give credit to the people knocking off someone else's idea but the vapobowl wins. It's even cheaper, for chrissakes, is 18mm (my preferred), has a glass bowl (no damn wood flavors), and the heat diffuser cap seems to be more effective. Both should have the sceens taken out of their diffuser caps the instant you get them.

I guess the vaporstar guy is in the US, so you can sue him if it gives you lead poisoning. No luck with the nameless, fly by night, likely made in China vapobowl.

Both vaporizers work twice as well with a jet lighter, toss your bics.

alex, It took me 6 months to perfect my VS technique and im still learning, its a great sit down home vape. :)

I have an EHLE 250ml and a 100ml, both are perfect for the VS with 14.4mm joints, they come with downstems included for around 25-30 (bargain). The 250 produces nice big rips and the 100 gives very tasty, but still thick hits. I tend to rotate them, it keeps things interesting. EHLE glass is quality and value for money IMO.

got my vs from EDIT.com with a space case. great customer service. jus bought a small mini water bong. works great hits like a champ. way more vapor than my lb... and i mean lots more vapor..delighted i have both tho.. think i have the technique down pretty good. gettin bout 9 big vapor rips and its nice and brown.couldnt be happier

tbh i don know.. though i plan on getting a large bong soon..
great vape and grea value. the butane doesnt bother me at all.dont even notice it tbh.
I am very surprised at the huge rips of vapor with this thing. can get very medicated, very fast.
I can see myself using this more than the lb which takes a lot longer to feel.

I used to own a 100ml EHLE. Vaporstar fit in it no problem. So I think the same would go for the 250.

There was some prior interest in this thread about this item so I thought I'd update with a review. The connector I ordered when they had 20% off, while not a bad value for money, has a very sloppy, amateurish weld where the main body attaches to the 18.8 joint. I guess it's not a huge surprise, but honestly, the big sherlock with 18 or 14 mm joint from SimpleGlassTubes (see sig) is way, way nicer in every regard, at basically the same price. On the bright side connector actually has a very, very chunky gog joint, among the thickest I've seen.
