What is the consensus on the shortened version?
PV

Shorter!

@PV Have you considered making it a 2-piece device with a GonG connection for the mouthpiece? I don't know if this would effect the cost, but it would allow for people to choose their mouthpiece length so tall people like SliM could get the longer mouthpiece. A keck clip would take some from the aesthetics I guess, but not very much imo.

Just a thought.

:2c:
And a darned good thought. I have glassware with removable stem and really like that more than fixed stem. And thicker glass is better. Like I have found with guitars, sometimes it is a better plant to spend more upfront and get better and longer lasting quality. $45 for a cheap thing that breaks in a couple days is less a bargain than $200 that lasts for years I think. (I got a great thick Flawless for under 200)
solo-glass.jpg

Of course, breaking the $200 one is a heartbreak...
What I think is important for glassware is (a) don't lean the thing (this one isn't); (b) big thick sturdy base. If it falls over, it may break. If it is thin, more prone to break. Long neck/stem - more prone to break. Removable stem = put your own whip in it if you want. Thick - durable; removabe parts - give options.

Next prototype is in production. Based on feedback, here are the expected changes:

  • Logo sizes and placement still up for discussion. The hexagonal base might not work with the FC logo showing up from the bottom due to the angles which are needed. We have some other logo ideas we will present when we get the next prototype to show.

Ever ask users if they like glassware with or without logos, printing, pictures, advertisements? Forget the logo - let the proud users tell their friends how to get it but don't make me a sitting/walking advdertisement for something I paid for (beyond my using it and recommending it).

Great Ideas everyone. The second prototype is already in production with the changes requested:
Based on feedback, here are the expected changes:

Sounds like votes are for the words

to be vertically placed on front of the downstem inside the can

I guess you better not tell her you hang out on 'FUCK' Combustion dot com then. :D She may find that just as offensive.

Then buy something else. I personally love the idea of having FUCKCOMBUSTION on it. Not only does it give props to this website but i can just picture my non vaporist friends now saying "hey can we smoke out of the bubbler?". NO read the label

Honestly us designers/blowers and everyone else on this side of the grass are just trying to make quality glass you guys will enjoy. No glass blower is trying to put there other down for every piece we (as blowers) make is art and should be appreciated. There is no one glass company that will make the perfect piece, but the diversity in glass is what keeps this industry interesting. Happy vapein' guys. In the words of BDV "Stay Frosty"

I'm starting to agree that removeable stem is the way to go.

The can on this bubbler looks amazing. If only Planet Vape would allow local pickup for GTA residents, it would be a no brainer for me :)

I would also like a removeable stem, as I can use a vapor tamer in its spot. Yum icy vapor... It works like a charm on a Sheldon Black bub.

Removable should reduce shipping, make it easier to pack up and hey, its one section of glass, that's easily replaceable w/o crying because your $200 piece is broken. I like the removable mouthpiece on the Infamous $40 Vapor Brothers Hydrator Knock-Off. If its sized right and you use a quality keck, they're extra nice.

I think that the extra joint on the back for the mouthpiece would be cool, but would definitely also add to the weight of the mouthpiece, which would make it more difficult to prevent tipping when unattended.

As for anyone who would like one with no logo, perhaps after presales are over (and demand dies down) bubblers with no logo and/or ones with FC on the stem instead of "Fuck Combustion" could be made available.

Some would even say that this would create an opportunity to offer FC customers the best pieces (with functional, but negligibly flawed pieces going out logoless).

A compromise could be a logo with an elegant script that is tough to read unless you look closely.

I vote for FUCK COMBUSTION, bold and brazen! I guess we shall see. :)

Toke it easy, all.

50$ is a price i'm comfortable with.

I must not get the artistic part.

Get it mass produced in china, sell it cheap, sell allot

Just like the PVHES, they are expensive and they have problems getting stocks and consistency. Get them done in china. Thats how arizer makes them I'm sure.

hmm I guess if that is what you want, you can definately get them cheaper. But you will find on closer inspection that almost all of the 'chinese glass' has small esthetical flaws, ie joints not welded evenly and so on.

Myself, for now I have been using a cheap inline ashcatcher from black leaf with a j-hook and it works like a charm. But it is not a piece I am very 'proud' of, because on closer inspecton you will see the flaws in it. i do however find it functions really great, so it is my steady compagnon and daily driver for the last couple of months.

I do think 'quality glass' will always come with a price on the higher side, but then you get what you pay for, as is with the 'chinese glass'. I for one would like a little upgrade, and understand the price tag involved here...:2c:

It's not so much the art that's the cost, its the time and effort going into making the product that cost so much. I'm guessing just the showerhead takes some time to blow and cut slits.

No thanks, I prefer mine to be blown with some quality borosilicate glass done by an experienced glass blower.

There are plenty of cheap chinese pieces available at your LHS and huge collections of websites with cheaply made glass, do we really need another?

even at $50-$100, that's still towards low-end China glass. not even like half decent China glass. with a price range like that, it'll be difficult to find a decent piece. do-able, but difficult.

I probably need to be educated on glass quality.

Does it breaks if it falls? That's what matter to me.

I really dont care for "small estheticals flaws".

There's not much choice for cheap blubbler here in Canada, Planetvape is a good place to order.

Some of you guys seems to put hundreds if not thousands of dollars on your glass collection that's fine, id rather put my money elsewhere.

My opinion on the FC bubbler is to try to keep it as cheap as possible.

Bad quality glass breaks easier. Especially if it was not annealed. Quality glass blower take care to make their glass with no weak spots so it really needs a hulk smash to break. I have one china piece and it broke without even falling. Now see what happens to quality pieces being knocked over and worse: nothing.

They don't have to be only esthetical. These are just the tiniest flaws. Low quality pieces are usually designed badly sometimes to the point of being almost unusable and their percs work awfully or not at all. Like drag, bad diffusion, overflowing problems etc. I don't say all perform awfully, but as said finding one that has not screwed up in functionality at that price range is more like a miracle. This cheap, there has to be something wrong.

Wow, never seen that video before, thanks. That last throw made me :o. So Evolver is the guy blowing the glass for the Cloud?

I've been taking a second look at his bubblers, didn't put two and two together.

The price point for this has been set for weeks. Quality, functionality, and aesthetics are not things we are looking to compromise here. From what we've seen, they are at a level well above what is normally found at this price. You're welcome to look for a $50 bubbler that suits you, but it won't be this one. You might try looking through this thread.

Back on topic. I hear we should have some pictures of the final prototype with the piranha perc this Wednesday. :D
