Ahahaha, I knew it! I improved my pax mouthpiece before the manufacturer thought to!

:D

Good to know I can file it way down!
I would think filing out the space above the edge that the ring sits on would help the catch slide in there:

In my pic it looks pretty rounded already (it's the right-most edge, not on the ring) does the new one look like that?

When I use iso in the oven I make sure there is a pipe cleaner in the air path to absorb any that might dribble down the tube. Then I carefully run this iso soaked pipe cleaner tip back and forth to clean the air path and remove it by pulling out from the oven side. That way the iso never comes near the button and by pulling it out that way ensures that a dry portion of the pipe cleaner removes any remnants.

Thanks for posting the link. After a long time lurking I have been feeling chatty lately. I guess I have to learn to post links and pictures and quotes.

AngryGiraffe-
I can definitely see the difference It's like a SUPER file mod! Props to JoeKickAss! Ima gonna git me one a dem straightaway!
I can't remember if you purchased a new one or had it replaced under warranty. Do you go to Ploom or a vendor? Plus you got me messed up - I thought giraffes were all gentle and stuff......

Yeah like I said so far so good. I purchased my Pax directly from ploom. I also got the mouthpiece from Ploom and they covered it under warranty. If you go to Ploom's website and talk with a csr they should be able to send you one. As for the angry part I'm only angry when I don't have my Pax.

I definitely have the old style mouth piece. I wonder if you buy one, if they send the old style out or the new style, anyone buy a new one recently that wasn't just a replacement from the company?

I am amazed at how many times I can open up the oven, look at my toasted herb, think it's pretty done, give it another stir anyway, and still pull another cloud or two off of it! So far my ABV has been dark brown and pretty evenly toasted after a couple of stirs. No sign of any combustion or even black char. So Awesome!

Here is another video, longer with consecutive hits, just to show it's not a one cloud wonder on a fresh packed load, and I just love watching that vapor dance inside the ion!! Yes we have loud freaking trains that run past constantly here... waaaaaah waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I don't have the new mouthpiece on mine I just got today from VW. Other than that I am thoroughly medicated off the thing, however, even with the pax on high I cant seem to get real milky hits like i can off my EQ with the temp at only 390F.

Hopefully this new mouthpiece solves the majority of everyone's problems. I definitely love how stealth it is, the average person would not believe its a medicating device at first glance.

p.s. I would also like to add that vape world is a good company but you shouldn't let the free aerospace grinder with the pax deal affect your decision on where to purchase the pax. My friend gave me this corny metal alien grinder from a liquor store that I've had for over 5 years and it does a finer grind than the free one they sent.

I also just got my new mouth piece in the mail today directly from Ploom. I bought the Pax at a local shop and they still replaced my mouth piece now questions asked. My unit was acting up AGAIN after I installed the new mouth piece with the temp light problem and after a quick chat with technical support it was up and running like new. They said to dip the mouth piece in iso then push it up and down inside the Pax itself. After that the Pax has been running great but I haven't used it much after that. I'll report back tomorrow with a more thorough test of the new mp.

Interesting! I guess that means the spring area is sealed off from the electronics...

I still have the original mouthpiece and it doesn't give me problems. Just used it to make sure ;)

Perhaps I should get a new one in case...
I've had some intermittent problems like everyone else that were easily fixed, but I still asked for a new mouth piece. Mine should be getting here this week.

Yah you all should definitely get a new one. There is nothing better than having spare pieces just in case anything goes wrong. And if Ploom is happy to send them out to anyone experiencing problems for free then why not capitalize?

Gentle cow vaper and halloween kiddo
I also have the problem with the led showing temp mode sometimes.
I'll try the stem cleaning method and hope it improves.
A new mouthpiece seems inconvenient being abroad. :D

Ok. It works for light use. Will it stand up to heavy use? :-)

That is a lot of herb...see these new portable that we like are using a mess load of herb since we over use them just because.

Well, as I clicked it on for bowl #7, my Pax blinked red and refused, total time: 54 minutes

Pretty much what I expected, but certainly not 120 minutes like we all hoped... so basically:

That time limit seems to be about what my Solos deliver or perhaps just a bit shorter... but still, seems very sufficient for jaunts out. Home use = recharge when not in use, so not an issue really...

I do wish the damn battery was bigger because as proof by modders it is possible to keep the unit functional and optimized with a bigger battery. I would be a little bit upset and feel gypped if they released a newer model with better battery life, but that's the price of being an early adopter.

The problem isn't so much the battery they picked, it's that the Pax only uses about 50% of whatever battery you connect to it. Lithium batteries are designed to go down to about 2.7v, but the Pax flashes red when it gets below 3.7v, meaning you still have plenty of power the Pax just won't let you use it.

The reason for this is the battery will last longer if you don't run it down that far, I would think it should give several more years than a battery run all the way down. The downside is if you swap batteries like some of us have, you won't see much of a difference in battery life. However, since the Pax runs for about an hour and it's effectively only using half an 18650 it is very energy efficient compared to other 18650 vapes.

Ah wow, people talking about half grams in the Pax and you're saying the LB does it better? Anyone else feel this way?
I think he's suggesting that the LB can do small loads, but the Pax needs more (= wasted to some greater or lesser degree perhaps). That the Pax is not as efficient. The LB may reduce the amount you go through over a day/week/month. That after a couple (single) hits off the LB you will get there but the Pax will have you going through more (than you may really need) because you are supposed to pack it in (the bud gets PAX'd!). It seems some like to swing either way and possibly both circumstances dependent. But - I have not read of people having the difficulties getting the 'technique' of the Pax, or of combustion; I have read of people trying to use less in the load though. Then too I understand some like to get a large load in a single but longer (than the 12 sec the MFLB requires) session. It sounds like you may be in that group. Not having used my LB in over a year I can't really do a great comparison. For me, it is for going out to a restaurant or bar where I can hit the bathroom and get a quick toke. I do that a fraction of a percentage of my time, so it doesn't serve my purposes often. Just every now and then. For single hits. To me, it's not unlike using a single hitter (bat?) to get several hits (albeit via combustion and hot and bad) in a minute or 2, but I'm not there. When I moved from combustion to vaporization, I got an immediate 50% reduction in consumption. That hasn't changed - if anything I'm getting better or efficient - but I have to admit that a couple hits every couple days isn't where I am. To each his own, and with vaoprizers, since each has something that is neat and something that isn't great, there is much room for all of them, for different purposes or users.
Rant mode off; I think he was talking about reducing consumption/waste. I'm saving so much now I can afford to 'wastte' a bit every now and then. Others need to be more conservative (finances, availabity, etc). Some don't want to consume a lot for others (spouse/work/parole/etc) and may think that the LB will be kinder on drug screenings.
So, yeah, I guess ultimately I would say the LB can run a smaller load than the Pax if you pack the Pax.
