Firing up the cloud to 3o'clock now... been running the pax all day, I almost feel like I'm cheating on my cloud. :brow: So many fun amazing vaporizers hitting the market right now, we are a spoiled bunch (at least I am) It's been an interesting and fun journey so far in the world of high quality vaporization.

By the tube not lining up, do you mean that the interior section orifices (the smaller holes) don't appear to be vertically aligned? Given how the tube is constructed, it would be weird if the tube itself were not uniform. By chance is it that the orifices are not exactly identical in size?

My hydracirc's mouthpiece ID is exactly .9", the hydraline's exactly 1.1". The smaller ID is a little more comfortable for me, but the larger ID works better with for the ice. My bong OTOH is a much larger tube; I don't care for larger pieces like that for vaporizing - too much air, not enough lung.
Yes the smaller orifices don't line up. I thought it was strange too...

If your cloud is performing and your orifices don't line up it is nothing to worry about. The orifices themselves play the role in vapor production, since glass is hand made there may be slight deviations, but if you unit is working this is nothing to worry about. If anything, your unit may produce even more vapor at dial positions vs straight orifices. But the difference is negligible.

Yes, it appears to be. I can't get there as well :-)

The Cloud produces some tasty vapor. I got a new batch in (Girl Scout Cookies), and it's amazing tasting.

A quick story with a tip within it...

I went over a friends with a cloud for him to try. He was so excited, so be cleaned all of his glass. All of it was 14 GonG, and I did not have an adapter with me. We finished a session with the hydratube, and the herb goddesses bestowed upon me a solution to our predicament. I took the downstem out of one of his freshl-cleaned ashcatchers and said "can we use this as an adapter?"

We used the ashcatcher without its downstem as an adapter for all of his pieces, falling for the confusion of what happened EVERY time the timer went off! (ie. "What happened? Did you hit the knob? Oh, it has just been another hour.").

Maybe this story will help somebody in a jam, or give somebody a laugh, or will make someone feel less alone when the timer fools them like described above?

Maybe? :D

Toke it easy.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on FC.

I have been on and off with vaping for a couple of years now, mostly off. I believe it's probably because I've never had a vape that has been completely satisfying compared to combustion (sorry, that was probably a blasphemous thing to say around here). I've been through a couple of units and tried a couple others. Firstly I used a no-name, basic box and whip set up, probably the most "satisfying" unit I've owned. But it broke down and it was back to combustion (probably for the best, I've heard there are some nasty things in those cheap Chinese boxes...). Then I acquired a MFLB, which I still own today. It's great for portability but leaves a lot to be desired for full-time, everyday use.

Recently I finally decided I'm done with combustion for good and I wanted a really good vape to make sure I stuck with it. I looked long and hard at the Volcano and was very, very close to pulling the trigger on it. My buddy has one, and it's by far the best vaporizing experience I've tried. Based on that experience I was ready to purchase one of my own. Before I clicked "check-out" I had a bit of a hunch to just have a look at the other high end options one more time and see how they stacked up to the Volcano before I spent all that money. That hunch, brought me here and introduced me to the VXC.

So I ordered the Cloud instead of the Volcano. I just ordered yesterday so I can't comment on my satisfaction with the unit yet, but I am expecting to be blown away. I think a lot of the reason I went for the VXC is the sheer number of people (here and elsewhere) commenting that this new vape had immediately sent their Volcano to the shelf. With the Volcano I was a little concerned about the maintenance and having to buy bags, etc., the VXC solved all of these issues. Low maintenance and a seemingly superior device? Where do I sign up?! Another point that really sold me is that it can be used with all kinds of glass set ups. I don't have a glass collection ATM, but I have a feeling that I may be starting one in the near future. To me, this keeps the VXC fresh and interesting. Man, I just can't wait to get this thing!

I ordered the Evolver HydraTree package. I wasn't sure which one to get, the tree style looked nicer, so I went with that. Probably a bad reason to pick one, but I'm new to glass and wanted to get one on order ASAP. I doubt I'd be disappointed with any of them though.

Anyway, sorry for the super long post, I'm just excited to get my VXC and thought joining the community here would be a good way to pass the time and chat with some like minded indivduals.

I do have a couple of VXC questions if anyone could help me:

-has anyone had one shipped to Canada via USPS Express Mail International? How long did it take?
-I understand the unit has a 1 hour auto-shut off, if I flick it on and off an restart the timer, is it okay to leave it heated up for hours on end (with limited use)

Thanks all, I look forward to chatting with everyone.

I had mine shipped to Ontario and it takes about ten calendar days. They pack well and avoid duty and taxes. A really good company to deal with.

That's not too bad. I was hoping for this week, but I doubt it. Guess it depends on customs. That's good news about duty and taxes though! Although duty wouldn't apply anyway since it's made in the US.

The short answer is yes. I am just resurfacing from one of the most brutal chemo sessions I have ever had, days in bed, barely able to even make it to the bathroom to piss. Between me and my spouse hitting the switch to reset the timer, we keep the Cloud warmed up and ready to go as much as possible in case I need it quickly, so its been running almost non stop for a week now, and this isn't my first rodeo. The Cloud seems to love to be on all of the time, it takes it in stride. I hope the off timer will be user definable, or gone, in the next version :peace:

Welcome and congrats on your purchase!

I was also deciding between getting a Volcano and a Cloud when I was searching for a good desktop vape. My friend's Volcano was the first vape that I ever really enjoyed (I had only tried box vapes before I tried the Volcano); I credit it with starting me on the path towards a combustion-free existence.

However, I was a bit turned off by the bag. The 'cano definitely produces some delicious and smooth hits, but I find that the bag can be unwieldy (maybe the bags that we use are too big, haha). I feel like it's great for passing around, but I don't anticipate having a gang of people coming by my place to vape.

I'm not really into the design, either. It's kinda cool in a vintage-Star Trek-tech sort of way. However, the look and design of the Cloud+any Hydratube is more my steez.

In the end, I also went with the Cloud and am very happy with my decision. I second your thought about using various types of glass with the Cloud in order to keep the experience fresh. The one drawback in this whole situation is the fact that owning a cloud has seriously kicked up my GAS. :argh:

Regarding your choice of the Hydratree, I think you'll be happy with it. As you said, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Aesthetics is a perfectly good reason for choosing a piece, especially since the differences in performance between the tubes is nominal. Although the hydraline is my favorite, I'd still be extremely happy using only the hydratree or hydracirc.

Sorry, I can't help you out with your questions. I haven't left my cloud on for toooo long and I'm usually done with it before an hour has passed. I do a decent job of turning my cloud off immediately after I'm finished, but if I do end up forgetting about it and come back later, I give the switch a quick flip to off and then back to on. Usually heats up in less time than the intial session.

I would guess that bypassing the auto shut-off by flipping the switch every now and then would make the unit very hot, but I'm not sure if it would be enough to do any damage to the equipment. This is purely speculation on my part...

Edit:

That's a serious bummer, tdub. My mom endured many chemo treatments before she passed. Seeing her in pain really hit me hard. Unfortunately, I couldn't convince her to try mmj to ease her symptoms. I think it would have helped a lot, but she was very conservative and couldn't get herself to consume what she perceived to be a "bad" drug.

Thanks for the info regarding keeping the Cloud running. Makes me a lot more comfortable knowing that I probably won't burn my apartment down if I space out after a cloud sesh.
