Discontinued Vapolution 2.0

Had to reread all of our posts to get the technique better.
Temps are now 10:00 - 11:00 on the; dial the real trick ,thanks STU,
is to wait 1 or 2 min as you preheat your load before pulling.

I also was pulling the stem out way too quick and often, trying not
to waste herb. Now I leave it in the whole time I'm vaping - 4 mins -
and only remove it when I'm finished. When I put it back in, I preheat
again and wait a minute or so before hitting. PATIENCE = SWEET CLOUDS :ko:

Hey folks,
No one has mentioned that this vape gives off very little smell and might
well be one of the more stealthy vapes around. COLLEGE KIDS TAKE NOTE !
I had multiple non-smoker family and friends ambush me in the middle of a
session. I had to place the wonder bowl out of sight and move the unit
into a corner ( I did not turn it off ). Later I asked some folks if they had
smelt anything when they came into the basement, and they hadn't .
I asked my wife, and she didn't know that I was vaping in the house.

The LB made more smell than this unit !

LOVING IT !

I'm now vaping regularly at 10:00 , I even tried 9:30 on the dial and got
sweet vapour.

My only bug- a -boo about this unit is the particulates that do manage to make
their way down into my throat. I woke up this morning with this feeling at the
back of my throat as if there were pieces that wanted to come out with a
sharp cough.

I need some glass water filtration..... tips please . :D

Just pick up some silicone tubing, and an adapter (EQ elbow, SSV WPA, etc...) and run it through a bong or bubbler. I only use my Vapo through water as I prefer the smoother, cooler vapor it provides.

can I be picky and ask for glass on glass, no silicone tubing,
abd still have filtration?

You can ask, sure.

You probably won't like the answer, though.

It would take some serious rigging IMO to get water filtration to work with the Vapo without using some silicone tubing of some sort.

can you turn the Vapolution upside down and stick the end of the AIW tube into the downstem of a bong?
It would be awkward to say the least. First of all there is the carb that must be covered during a hit. This takes one hand, so you would be holding the Vapo upside down with one hand, and covering the carb with the other....not a very comfortable hit. Then there would have to be some silicone or something to mate the AIW to a downstem (14mm would be easiest, but still would be a challenge) so there goes the true "all glass on glass".

Personally, I find it an aceptable tradoff to just use silicone tubing. The taste is still awesome, and it's very convenient. I used to use an Arizer elbow joint, but I upgraded to a straight WPA as it makes the "loop" of the tubing more natural as it goes up, then down in a straight(er) fashion.

:peace:
edit: I found this video of my original setup with the EQ elbow. Sorry about the coughing at the end. :\

i think i would just get a boro tube and fire up the propane torch and make an AIW in a "J" shape, if i needed water filtration

Thanx guys
I guess I will go in search of a "gnome" in order to get my
bubbler on, eventhough a little tubing would be acceptable.

Any pix of said "gnome" ?

Stu,
Thanks for the video; I will go the tubing route in order to get some
water filtration.
I'm still marveling at the purity of taste this thing delivers.
It might also be as efficient as my LB in saving herb.
I've been getting severely medicated as I practice my
loading and heating technique. :ko:

OK, I did not realize that the gn0me was a torched vaporizer.
I'm clumsy enough with broken glass that a torch would leave
me homeless... eventually.
Vapolution had better get their glass blowing skills on as other
artisans are leaving them in the dust!( gn0me )
Still, everyone who has tried the vapo with the AIWB has exhaled
with a huge grin saying ,"that has to be the sweetest hit I have ever
taken".
I have not hooked up with my volcano buddy to compare notes and it
looks like it will not happen until mid- September; His loss. :smug:

I bought a few months ago.. This is such a winner there's no need to try any other and I won't ,, why go against a simple brilliant system as this. WORKS PERFECT AND MADE N USA.

I might, but with something so well done in the first place and all you hear is the next or this or that is the best.I already found i think or hope to say its not rocket science but when you have a product so sip=mple and does EXACTLY what its made for,i,m just more than satisfied, but thanks for the thought and all.

Oh by the way i have CMT Charcot Marie Tooth disease. And ah does it help my symptoms and make my daily life better yes about a million times better, you bet it does.

2 month update:
I'm still getting very sweet hits of this vape, and the temp dial is never over 12:00.
I've had some minor cleaning situations with herb falling out and charring the bowl.
Salt and alcohol soaks did the job , but it took some time.
The hits are very remeniscent of a magic flight launch box with more taste over a
broader heat and hit range, IMO.
This is not a party vape as patience and technique are needed in the loading and the
amount of time waiting for the shit to achieve optimum temp.
I believe that this vape is 60% conduction and 40% convection.
I can get weak hits immediately which is convection, or wait a minute or so and
get milky hotter hits from conduction? Whatever, It is a good vape and has become
my daily driver.
I even enjoy their pocket vape that needs a torch and little waiting time.:ko:

Oh yeah, found the old original vapolution thread. It was a good informative read.

i don't think it's actual conduction. The internals get heat saturated after several minutes so that all the heater energy is devoted to heating the airflow instead of heating the glass AND the inside of the device. i think it's more radiant heat, rather than conduction per se ... like a convection oven.

when the herb gets suitably heated, then the vaporization point is easier to reach.

Don't you get conduction from contact of the glass on the heater? When you draw hot air through glass tubing, some of the heat energy goes to heat the glass. If the glass is already hot from conduction then more heat energy should be available from the hot air stream for vaporization.
Radiant heat will provide a lot of energy to the herb over time.

i don't think there is much contact between herb and glass -- can't grind much for this (or my) vape, so mostly contact with hot air.

i agree about radiant heat.

There is no contact between bowl and heater tube (unless you're using one of those straight bowls with the washers and you accidentally push it too far down :o ). If you leave the bowl seated in the heater for too long, you'll definitely be in danger of overcooking, but like Hippie said, it is radiant heat rather than conduction.

Since this vaporizer is designed to hold un-ground little nuggets in a fairly narrow glass bowl, it relies somewhat on friction against the inner walls to keep the load in place. I believe this does lead to some conduction occurring during normal use; although I believe it is minimal.

The real conduction seems to occur when a load gets overwhelmed by gravity and finds its way falling to the bottom of the heating chamber where it roasts away.

I agree that the glass needs to be brought up to vaporizing temperatures before convection draws are delivered with efficiency. Placing a cold bowl in and immediately hitting it results in very little vapor as the majority of the heat energy is initially being used to heat the glass bowl.

This seems to me to more resemble a glass innards log vape than something to compete with other desk models like the E, or HA. And that would be a tops design in my book. I've been thinking for a while about how to make a glass log vape that is cheap, but looks like it has already been done!

Stu...you still using yours, or do you prefer the CRZ and UD?

I haven't used mine in a while tbh, but I have it still, yes. I don't really compare it (in my own messed up head anyway) with log vapes as I use it as a desktop like my EQ. I prefer to use it with my bong (like the EQ) and the whip with WPA setup is similar to my EQ.

I think of my log vapes as more bubbler friendly for some reason, so I guess that's where I'm drawing the distinction. Also log vapes are much nicer looking and can be displayed and appreciated for their aesthetic beauty. The Vapolution 2 is not something that most people would proudly display as it looks kinda cheezy (plastic and cheap aluminum with the words "Vaplution Vaporizer - the original glass on glass vaporizer").

It definitely delivers quality vapor, though!

If someone could only make a Vapolution in a wooden body, I'd buy it. I'm looking at you, Hippie Dickie.

thanks stu...definitely some differences. The similarities I see are in the design of the heat core and airflow/delivery after seeing how the logs work. I've been thinking of glass alternatives to the SS log construction as well as cheaper housings to bring it to the masses, and this seems to have accomplished both. I've always thought a price point of $75 would fly off the shelf. The log design is so tried and true, why not make a less attractive, less labor intensive version that all could afford? This plastic design with SS innards could probably get to that price. But to get it with all glass for $100 seems insane to me.

Do you consider it to be on par with your other logs in efficiency?

max...how do you think this thing compares to the log vapes from a user perspective?
