Word of warning.....I made some brownies a while back that were my strongest batch ever. I had added some kief into the mix before baking. I've eaten several of these brownies and had no problem. Apparently the kief did not mix in thoroughly. I had one the other night, of which I gave my husband less than a quarter of the brownie. We both had terrible experiences. Apparently, there must have been a big kief concentration in this one brownie. He told me he had had the spins and paranoia for a majority of the night. I laughed it off thinking he was a rookie. I had just had a good night's sleep, as usual. I did notice that I was especially tired and spaced out the next day. But, the weirdest part was that I didn't totally get off until almost 24 hours after eating the brownie. I, having eaten 3 times as much as him, can now see why people call 911 thinking they are dying. No joke. I had vertigo so badly (that came on so quickly) that I thought I was having a stroke or severe neurological issues. When I described what had happened to my husband ( to make things worse, I was alone at our cottage when this happened), he told me it was the same thing that had happened to him the night before. We were both incapacitated, and not in a good way. It has totally turned me off edibles. Now, I'm no rookie. I've been using for 45 years and have done edibles multiple times. Never have I had an experience like this. And hopefully, never again. So, the moral of this story is be careful when you dose yourself. Baby steps until you know what you got!

I hear ya. I ate 2/3's of a cookie a few weeks back. Must have been a potent one because I got "scared high" Started sweating, heart pounding, dizzy, bad bad time.

This is (part of) my second batch, this time I added 2 eggs and broken up milk chocolate with like 50gr of cannabutter + flour + sugar. They came out pretty good, not crunchy, quite soft, but great taste. I didn't count them but I think they were about 20+ cookies. I brought them for camping with friends, by the end of the week-end they were all out! xD Everybody really enjoyed them (orly?).
Next time I wanna add a bit of water and see if they come out different in consistency.

I do not cook much with green weed, unless I am using "commersh".. which I grind into a fine dust, and then toast on a dry skillet before using.
I went ahead and used med quality green herb yesterday and did it right!
I made Cannabutter, the right way I do not know what I am about to cook/bake..
But I do know this:

Last night I toasted a sandwich with a spoonful of this melted on it, and I was a goner!
I used 24 grams of clean herb, with 3 bars (1.5 cups or 3/4 Lb.) of butter.
Making Cannabutter smells foul to most people.. especially in the very beginning of the process. The beauty of using butter is that once the work is done there are no smells during food preparation!

sam jackson may not approve, but i made some vegan cannabutter last night using earth balance and it turned out quite well. tonight i am going to make some vegan rice krispie/fruity pebble treats. :3 this was my first time making butter. i used about 16.4 grams of mostly abv along with a little bit of shake into about one and a half sticks of butter. here is the final result:

Just made my first batch and its in the fridge setting as we speak! Followed Sam's recipe pretty much to the letter, and I wet and the rang out the cheesecloth first. Once the butter is ready I'm going to be making the ole Big Kahuna cookies and I will fill you in on the results. I have to tell ya, finding this forum has really changed my life for the better and the healthier!!

Nice to see another satisfied convert You gotta love the reclaiming element of vaping too. Remember to take it easy once you've made your cookies and test in small amounts at first to find the right quantity for a single serving.

I'm trying to make brownies using cold infused oil based on a discussion I saw on here. Seems easy if one is patient. When I do it I'll let you know how it turned out :-)

Strong is an understatement my friend!! All ABV (I vape @ low temps and don't get it very dark), 11-12g per stick. I then melt it and make it into a batch of sugar butter cookies. It works out to about a g of ABV per cookie, which IMO, if you are not used to eating edibles, is way too strong. I always heavily recommend a half cookie and waiting at least 2.5-3 hours before considering the other half.

ABV edibles are a real stoney, put you on your ass type high

I wouldn't do more than 4 sticks at a time tho, did that once and it was borderline too much too deal with.

At the rate of an Ounce of Bud (or Two OZs of ABV) to a pound of butter.....
more than that becomes more than a "strainer full" and Awkward.

OMG, now I've gone and done it.
I like to cook with my ABV straight (although ground to "talc")
A local patient gave me his jar of ABV.... it was perfect!1
Not coffee brown like my own ABV, but golden, and still a bit iridescent.
I went ahead and put the whole jar through the Krupp grinder, (in 11 shifts)
The dust weighed 100 grams.
Now here is where I made a shaky decision...
I decided NOT to cook with it and make butter... BUT the herb was already fine talc...
I went for it, to make the strongest ABV butter around.
1 pound butter.
100 grams dust
cooked 12 hours.
strained through cheesecloth and a super flimsy/thin towel.
so large was the wad , that it took 4 hands to hold and wring it out...
Yes, some was lost by the sheer mass of the mulch wad.
I generally cook 1 ounce dry bud(flowers only) to a pound of butter, and get a return that is perfect... BUT I then clarify and cook the butter down reducing its weight (removing milk solids and all moisture)
I lost a bar of butter in the mass of the ABV dust (stored in fridge for another attempt)
THEN, after clarifying the butter I came back with 200 grams (a half pound).. not bad considering the bulk and work involved trying to "Cannabutteritize" 4 ounces of herb at one time@!
I did not use my traditional cockpot.... 4 ounces of dust becomes pretty large when wet.
I used a 12 quart stock pot and watched the stove the old fashioned way (like back in the 60's)
Even after being filtered, and clarified, you can see by this (one of the resulting two 110 gram plugs from the batch).. this is the darkest butter I have ever made.

It does not smell like ABV, but rather very strong cannabutter. It is extremely greasy to the touch.
I know it is going to be an ass kicker... SO what I plan to do is:
I am going to make my usual recipe for ABV Crystal Pie, found here: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/abv-crystal-pie.4128/ And I am going to use THIS BUTTER in place of the "civilian" butter I use to make my ABV Crystal Pie.
I think it is going to be quite an afternoon!

Many will say (and I agree) that This move may have been overkill.. a bit wasteful, since butter can only absorb "X" THC before it is saturated and stops.. (hence the formula 1 ounce per pound)
This was wasteful, in that I did saturate the butter, but.... I also have butter that is the highest concentration possible, and it was "times of plenty" in the ABV world around here.
So to Celebrate "Rosh Hashana" .. the turning of the new Year, as in Hebraic tradition ..(I am Catholic- but admire the Jews a bunch).. I decided to "Slay the fatted Calf" and go all out in the name of potency!

Whelp, took about an ounce of ABV and tried to make two sticks worth of butter with it. I got the brilliant idea from my friends to take a few roaches and put it in there! Great! Well we took it out, let it cool, all that nonsense. Just smeared a little on bread for taste. MMM... tastes like a greasy ashtray! I mean I wasn't surprised, it reeked the whole time. I was just hoping it just reeked like that while it was cooking but it tasted like it smelled: the asshole end of a roach.

It was such a stupid idea. His logic was that it would be stronger with the roaches. Considering that I vape my stuff pretty dark brown, he kinda had me thinking we could use the extra goodies. But roach flavor is so strong and intense, especially now that I'm used to vaping it completely overpowered the entire thing. I should have never let him talk me into it but as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Now I know!

Plus how much stronger was a few roaches really making the butter compared to the ounce of ABV?? I'll never know because the tiny amount I had almost made me throw up from the taste so I got rid of that batch. There's no amount of sugar in the world that'll cover that up. I'm serious it was an extremely pungent odor and taste, and a shit brown color.

Question for experienced butter makers: Do you wash the cheesecloth or is that just done? I had a bit of difficulty finding cheesecloth and spent about $5 on mine. I'd hate to throw it out but it looks trashed. I'm afraid there's no washing machine in the world delicate enough to clean this without completely shredding it.
