i think there has to be some charring going on inside my unit. nothing feels loose inside, but now, even when completely cool and unplugged, i can smell charring inside the unit if i gently blow air into it. i have a rockzap, so i am not quite sure how this could happen. has anyone else had this issue? i'm sure the unit is fine (it functions normally), i just really hate the smell and am worried about inhaling whatever is going on down inside there.

Man...and I was just getting ready to order a replacement CRZ for the one I sold a few months back :( really sorry to hear of your troubles Rick, I hope everything works out for the better for you and fam in the end.

////, even the Rockzaps seem to go through a period where the inside chars a bit, until it mostly reaches a steady state with no further charring. Do you generally leave the unit running all the time?

@gunky, that is interesting, i didn't know that. when on, i mostly leave it running for 24-72 hours and then give it a rest for about 8 hours to a day. i have had mine for almost a year now. i appreciate your help. thank you! :)

Hey Rick, there is talk going around that you 'invented' the so-called AromaZap bust so that you would not have to honor the Limited Lifetime Warranty you offered on the CRZ. So you could simply walk away??? My answer was,,,,how could anyone act so well at being distraught??? Cmon,,,,the only person I ever met that was that damn good at BS'n was my Gemini ex-wife!

I just don't see rick pretending so he wouldn't have to honor a limited lifetime warranty.. imo limited lifetime warranty means it is limited to back out whenever he pleases no explanation needed... we all know folks are gonna have assumptions but I do believe that rick was sincere about the whole ordeal. just don't see him using a excuse like that to back out of his warranty...

A package arrived from Blissville yesterday. They had the deluxe package, with glass tooty (I thought it would be an Ed's TNT tube but this is great, easy to clean long term, plus I have an Eds Amboyna burl tube coming anyway) including a fixit kit with screens and retaining rings, two of the nylon/ss tubes, the aromatherapy metal flower (I never bought one before) in a cool purple drawstring bag which may end up as spent load bag, flaming dice grinder, tiny bottles of scent... the works! I have been testing the oak rockzap today (all in the name of science, you understand). Works well. I am happy but I miss having the Zap site there any time I want to order one. And Rick had made so much progress in the evolution of the log vape. Guess that's the end of the brand. Sniff.

Jeppy...."talk going around"....where would that be? I gotta say it pisses me off to hear it but I understand how it could happen with the vast array of people we have around FC. Don't suppose it could be coming from a competitors thread or followers? That would be impossible, eh?

I have never said I will not honor warranty work as it is needed. I have said everything Aromazap related was taken by the police four weeks ago yesterday. I cannot fix a heater without my heater stock as I will not go out and buy more at this time. But then I have not heard of a bad heater yet.
The point is, believe it or not, over 40 police were here and combed every inch of my property. They took all Aromazap anything, computers, bills, invoices, etc. We are shut down. If some silly people want to start other stories, good for them. I would say anybody who would say that(we invented the story) or believe it is just plain stupid and/or they have a competitive interest in giving us a bad name.

I do appreciate you passing that info on Jeppy. I would love to have any one of those chickenshits come on my thread and say it.
Most people half our age would be total nutcases if they went through what we did a month ago. Those guys were ready to kill us and our dogs if we did the wrong thing. Six hours of terror.

@//////// something has dropped into the heatport to get a smell of any kind. There is very little to no charring with the CRZs. They take the heat very well. Any 'new' smell was introduced by a human operator. That is my guess anyway.

Yup, that's right, I am not so nice in this post. Funny how you can work ten years making a product providing the same customer service as always, then a real life bust, including wanting to take my property and some cool dudes or dudesses creep out to put you down.

I'm good folks and will keep my word. I also sure as hell will not touch anything Aromazap related until I find out what they intend to do with me.

I say to the 'talkers', does it feel good kicking a guy that is down?

And bust me mod for "chickenshits". At this point I could care less.

it's also out of character. you don't produce a body of work like the zaps and the presence on here without getting the benefit of the doubt from any reasonable people.

dont let it get to you, rick...those chickenshits are always out there.

Rick, I TOTALLY understand why this would upset you, but the world is full of idiots who want to tie in a conspiracy theory to every thing they come in contact with. I guess for them, life is so fucking boring, that they have attach some ulterior motive in order so stimulate their very small minds.......either that, or they are hell bent on making damn sure that they can validate, at every turn, that they are, in fact...........a victim.

To any idiots that do this and may be reading this thread, know this. Rick has been around this community for a very long time, and during that time, has gone above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to taking care of his customers, even when the units are way past their warranties. He has done this for years, and to suggest that he has folded his business to escape upcoming warranty issues is totally counter-intuitive and without any merit whatsoever.

Edit: Ooops.........Sticks beat me to it.

I will comment, that I am in personal touch with 3 dozen FC members.
Your comment is the very first time this has been mentioned, in print OR among the community.
I have heard no "talk going around", unless it is something you have personally heard from another member that has not put his two cents in here.

Here are some more facts about Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Zapville, North Idaho(remember Ruby Ridge?), USA

Wonderful sleep Tuesday night. A nice visit with Dave and Amanda regarding a possible future for Aromazap Sunday/Monday. Home Monday night with a big farm harvest/delivery Tuesday along with a post on FC about what is happening with us. Back to Zapville finishing a couple orders and picking blocks for my last dozen or so Zaps to be made will start Wednesday. That is soon enough.

6AM Wednesday with us still sleeping soundly, incredible screaming from downstairs. Screaming from many different men. "Get down here! NOW! NOW! DOWNSTAIRS! HANDS UP! NOW! NOW! NOW! Dudes, I am crying as I write this. Pat was first down, I followed. At least a half dozen big black dressed, armed SWAT team members in our dining area. More behind them outside in a line, waiting to invade if needed. The door knocker down was not needed as we had only the screen door closed. Later, "thanks for having the door open, we did not need to knock it down". Me in cuffs, Pat no cuffs thank God. At the same time exactly at Mikes house the same thing only he got the real tough squad. After all, he is young(37), has guns and is very tough so we will need to deal with that. Mike and his love were in cuffs for over 4 hours. They said they knew we were OK as they could hear us outside talking with all the officers, even with some laughing. Like when one officer came out and pulled me from the 'crowd' for a private conversation about a jar they found hidden away in Pats Cedar chest with a date of "2005" on the top. I laughed and explained how Pat stashes stuff and forgets where she put it sometimes. I re-assured him that had we known it was there, it would have been gone in 2005!

The squad designated for Mikes place was tough, very tough. They marched up his short driveway all in unison, stomp, stomp of 16 boots. They went through every inch, every millimeter of his house. They checked every weapon with their constant chatter on the 'special' radios carried. The chiefs had their radios and the workers had theirs. They did not take any weapons from any of us. No one was arrested.

I am going to do this a little here and there. More of the story. I can do it a little better now because a month has passed and my chest does not start thumping when I think about what happened. I'm also glad Jeppy said what he did as it pulled a little trigger in me that has been locked for a month. This was a big time bust with lots of resources wasted. That is the interesting part of the story, how was it directed and why? At this time it really did not happen as the warrant is still secret. The warrant and how it was obtained does not exist until it is turned back, with the evidence list, to the court that issued the warrant. We are still there. They still have all our stuff.

BTW, Jeppy, I too am a Gemini. I've got a moon that keeps me to the real stuff. Besides, tell me? Who can make up a story like this?????? If I wanted to shit can my customers, I could do that very easily and much nicer than the PD folks endured.
This was and is real. Hell, we could not even have a favorite dish using Mushroom soup til yesterday. They were nice in that they put everything back after searching. No way could they put it all back the way Pat had it. She finally checked the other end of the pantry and found the soup. This happens every day. ......"oh, that was not there before"

Thanks FC community. I need to get some of this big rats nest of a day out of me and I will do it more often. Also, no need to push Jeppy on whatever. That is over.
Aromazap is in Limbo, not dead. Same with Zapville and Rick and Pat. R&P and family are more alive than ever................

Vito,,,that's not true. That is all I will add. I'm not going to be prompted to say more.
I am not accusing you of instigating talk or rumor. I simply meant that your comment is the first I ever heard about this.
I edited my wording...
I apologize for being overly sensitive here to Rick and pat's plight~

Hang in there Rick. As you mentioned your heart didn't start thumping when you thought about it this time. In time, your anger will subside a bit as well. We all know you are telling the truth. Who the hell would lie and be able to go into detail about something like that anyway?

I went through a similar but unrelated type of incident years back that I don't want to get into detail about. I was innocent and everything worked out fine but I was angry at the world for years. No one likes to be falsly accused of bullshit.

Those intense memories will fade in time. My heart used to race and my fists would clench when I thought about my circumstances. After a while it's just like "f it."

Take 'er easy dude and hopefully your veggies and stuff are going good. We had a great harvest of tomato, potato and cucumber :)

Dr. Vitolo and the Radical Quintuple Retention Ringaddonectomy
Yes quintuple.
I own 6 Old School Zaps, and I decided to add a ring to 5 of them!
My Original Zap, Kushin' already had a second ring from a surgery by Dr. Rick a while back.
After over a year of being on 24/7, I unplugged my Zaps and a couple developed a minor rattle (or at least minor "impending" rattles).
Procedure- I ordered the rings from Zoro…. but was unaware I would do best to use an official tool for this job. I like most novices figured I could make my needlenose pliers do the job at hand. … NOPE.
I had great fortune however… because after weeding through the hundred dollar tools, I found a 6 dollar tool at Sears Online….. and guess what.. I was able to pick it up in 15 minutes, at a nearby spot.
DSC01886.jpg

I found it most useful to squeeze the original ring, and then tap it down a bit using a small screwdriver…
and then spread it again.. giving a slightly different "bite" and then add the second ring.
DSC01887.jpg

Solid as a rock.. as are all 5!
DSC01888.jpg

I even added a ring to my rarest of Zaps.
Nurse Myrtz is not a brass Zap, nor is she a RockZap.
Nurse Myrtz is an Old School Myrtle wood Zap, made from a piece of Myrtle that Zapville had sitting for 40 years. It was a prototype to the Stainless steel heat port… only this one is still the size of the brass stems from the Older Zaps.
No ceramic liner here… She was the FIRST Arizona Medical Zap, before things changed, and the Universe found Ceramic RockZaps

Radical Quintuple Retention Ringaddonectomy a complete success.

Many thanks, Vito. Those rings arrived from Zoro and I was just coming to the conclusion that I need a special tool to use them. I have ordered one from Sears.

The little tool arrived today from Sears and I followed Vitolo's instructions and added a ring to my brass Cherry Zap. A few moments work! The tool works like a charm. I love that zap. I was heartbroken when it started getting all loosey goosey. It seems quite tight now and is heating up as we speak. Yes! I added a couple rings to my beloved old pd, on which the heatport has slipped down nearly a quarter inch from where it originally was. Seems a good deal tighter and I am heating it up too. Oh happy day, cooloo coolay! Thanks Vitolo.

If you have a brass Zap with a C-clip retaining ring, or a PD, or Woodeez, the rings and the retaining ring tool Vitolo points out above are modest and very good investments even if you have no issues yet to keep your units in good running order.

Thanks, there was some kind of glitch when I originally posted and a message came back that the server had stopped responding and I was still in edit so I hit post again, resulting in double post. I edited the second to add more content.
