Not just duck rape- legitimate gang duck rape!

They love to do it with all their pals.

There was also an Ig Nobel Prize given for a study of a necrophilliac homosexual mallard - he raped a corpse (violently) for 75 minutes until the researcher stepped in to put a stop to such devilry (here's the paper http://www.nmr.nl/nmr/binary/retrieveFile?instanceid=16&itemid=2574)

The private life of ducks is a colourful one.
I heard that story too, don't know if it's the same, but I think that guy was a guest on a tv-show here in the netherlands once(doesn't exist anymore, kopspijkers or koppensnellers, both by the same host, a kind of satirical newsshow where they showed funny speakingerrors etc in the news/tv and other things)
how I remember the story was that one duck was being chased by the other(flying), then the first flew against a glas wall/window, was instantly death and fell to the ground were the 2nd, the chaser, landed and humped the dead corpse(and both ducks were male)

djonkoman,
Aiken stayed in. I'm glad. He's truly a d-bag. To me it seems he was just stating what his party believes, but he really fucked up his wording. It's funny to see him get shunned by the people who believe the exact same shit, they just don't want to talk about those positions because that kind of narrow mindedness might loose them the election.
We have a tough decision this voting season... A douche, or a turd sandwich. Kinda depressing.

Yup.

Way back before computers, when everyone got their news from newspapers, it was a well known fact that the editors of those newspapers, all of them, dumbed down the copy to a 5th grade reading level so that the typical reader would be able to comprehend what they were reading. I think that those that are in the business of politicking are doing the exact same thing. The problem is that it's becoming so transparent that it's embarrassing.

Both parties don't belong in the business of government, but rather belong on the playground or in the sandbox during recess where a teacher can come out and proclaim, "Ok. Either you both learn how to play well together or you're both going to sit in the corner for a timeout until you do." And where Special Ed classes exist so that kids like Akin can be separated and put into an environment where they can learn without holding the rest of the class back.

i almost can't bear to watch the news anymore (except Daily Show) ... finally got Netflix working on my home network (it's a long sad story) and that gets a lot more play time.

but i'm mostly astounded at how ignorant americans are ... another victory for the Republifucks, who made the public education system so wretched that people will believe anything they are told.

i try not to think about it too much.

I have deleted this message as I was informed I was probably going to be banned for it, as I'm accused of trolling. It was not my intent. As I tried to explain and follow-up, I was pointing out a double-standard. 5,000,000+ news stories for what some guy said, vs 77 for what some guy actually did to a 17 year old child.

I then said I was leaving the conversation. The only reason I came back, was because a mod addressed me, in my opinion, read me wrong and threatened me. I am also being accused of lying, about my intent. I apologize if you believe I was trolling and I hope my removing my commentary, you all can move on, without my input.

Interesting this story is getting so much play. While the State Senator up North, sucking off 17 year old boys, in public restrooms... not a peep.

Carry on. I know my perspective isn't welcome.

If you are talking about State Representative Gary Gauthier in Minnesota, 77 news stories on Google News is a bit more than "not a peep".

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. You would do well to lose it.

77 stories? That's pretty much low on the radar scale. How many on Akin?

As you're a moderator, I feel I'm put in a bad position, by your wrong implication and erroneous assumption, to the intent or feeling in my written word, plus the threat. You know, studies have shown that, people read things, as if they wrote them. So, (just an example here) say.... if you were to have a hostile attitude towards me. You would read the words from me, with hostile intent.

I have neither a chip, nor one to lose. I intend to stick to the ToS and be a productive member of the board. I have added the disclaimer to my signature, so that people might see it and it can foster MORE discussion and amicable resolution, between members, without getting the mods involved. Primarily because of those previously stated reasons. You read me wrong and that read, would have gone into your moderator decision.

Personally, I think I deserve an apology.

You're not getting one. Your comment not only didn't get the facts right, it was an attempt to draw the discussion away from the topic with a potentially inflammatory distraction. That is called trolling. You then conclude that you know your view is not welcome. Why are you posting here then? That is also called trolling. We have a rule against trolling:
  • No trolling. Please do not post any topic that disrupts the peace and harmony of this board. Don’t post for or the purpose of starting a dispute. This includes messages in profiles, signatures, etc.
Somehow to you, that means not only that you don't have a chip on your shoulder but that you deserve an apology.

The chip just got larger.

I think this entire thing has been twisted by the mostly left leaning media. Everyone is taking what he said out of context...he didn't say what he said as his own personal view on rape...LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAID "...first of all from what I understand from Doctors...". The senator isn't a doctor...it sounds like he was saying that a woman should not be allowed to have an abortion if authorities think she is "crying wolf" and didn't have a "legitimate rape" in which case she may HAVE actually been raped. The whole thing is walking on egg shells because there are so many opposing and religious views on the matter. I just think it's funny when the media makes a mountain out of a mole hill.

drumwizard, if I respond to your post above, we will both be morphing this thread from a discussion on Akin to the how's and why's of how the media works. Would love to get into that discussion, but I'm not sure that this thread is the place to do it in, but............if it is, I will. ;)

Ah hell, I'll start a separate thread on this topic. Could be fun, as long as we can all keep it civil without any personal attacks on those we disagree with.

You may want to move your post above to that thread, if you wish.

seems like we have a copycat of this going on here in the netherlands...
I'm watching tv, zapping around I happen to stumble upon this, a politician(I think the leader) of the SGP, our most radical christian party(only 1 seat in parliament I think), who in an interview iterally said(traslated to english): 'the chance of pregnany after rape is very small' (and therefor he is anti-abortus)

apparently later in another interview he explained himself, citing an american study from the 80's that said only 0,5% of rapevictims got pregant

Well, djonk, at least it should be a comfort to you that your radical Christian party only has 1 seat in Parliament. Here, the radical Christian right has hijacked a whole party, or if not the whole party, at least a VERY large part of it.

What also truly boggles my mind as well is that one, he is fucking doctor. Two, he AND Akin are both on the governments Committee on Science and Technology. What the ?????????????

How in the hell can you have a guy on the Committee on Science in Technology when he doesn't believe in science? That's like having a pacifist heading up the Joints Chief of Staff.

Taking the Bible, the Koran or the Torah, or any other religious book written eons ago, literally, is fraught with danger on sooooo many different levels. We see the outcome of that happening now in various countries throughout the world, and we've seen historically, what can happen, and that SHOULD scare the hell out of us and not allow our country to be ruled by ANY fundamental religious group, be they Islamic, Christian, Jew or whatever………..

The Republican party really needs to find a way to extricate themselves from the Christian evangelical, far right. They have hijacked this party awhile ago, and it's about time that the moderates, if there are any left, take their party back.

Akin a no-show on Piers Morgan Tonight

Posted by Paul Kane on August 20, 2012 at 10:33 pm

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) had been scheduled to appear Monday on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” part of a media tour to defend himself — and his U.S. Senate candidacy — from an explosion of criticism over his controversial comments about rape and abortion.
But when the show opened at 9 p.m. viewers were greeted with an empty chair, where the network expected the embattled congressman to be sitting. The cable network called it a “last minute” cancellation. Morgan, who has struggled to keep viewers against MSNBC’s liberal “Rachel Maddow Show” and Fox’s conservative “Hannity” show, had been trumpeting the Akin appearance since mid-afternoon Monday.

“You’re looking live at the empty chair,” Morgan said, kicking off the show. He said an Akin staffer had agreed to the appearance. “We kept our word, I’m here,” Morgan said, and jokingly added, “It’s a nice empty chair.”

He then called Akin “a gutless little twerp.”

Other guests, including Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and journalists Ben Smith and Nate Silver, appeared to discuss the controversy, which has members of Akin’s own party leading the call for him to drop out of the race against Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) During the discussion, CNN frequently showed in the bottom right corner of the screen a shot of the chair, with a logo reading: “Rep. Todd Akin’s Empty Chair.”

By 9:25 p.m., Morgan was done with politics. He went to a commercial break alerting viewers: “Up next, my exclusive with Ricki Lake.”
