Irie!
This is not a one way rewiew but a wall to stick our post-it about this alchemic vape!
Only "herbo" posts are allowed to share our experiences...

here the herborizer staff reply to my question on the heater...

"Bonjour,

The heater is in stainless steel.
Sebastien is currently in trip to equip the new herborizer of a new identical heater but completely in ceramic.

Cordialement"

I don't know why they decide to change the heater so my next q will be this...why?
I feel good with this stainless steel heater so...i'd like to know why!

I'm trying to justify purchasing this...:/

the only issue is I can't image it being any better than my "Modded" Extreme and my glass water tool like the sphere.

Out of a half filled bowl I can pull many THICK vaps (can't see through) through the tool now.

how much better can it be?? :o

Currently is it a ceramic element sheathed in stainless steel? SS would retain heat better than only ceramic or glass, no? I don't think anyone has a problem with SS's inertness.

All the same here marcuss I have quite a bit of traffic through my place each wee k . There are half a dozen vaporizers to choose from & its the herbo for everybody bar none . I have got a few mates who never even smoked much but now they ask where herbie is as soon as they walk in !

It really is so superior to anything else we own . The extreme is gathering dust here to .

Why don't you guys pump this unit up later when I have some money!:)

I'm bummin' I can't afford one right now.
I'm curious to try one. OTOH I'd like to try quite a few models that I have no interest in buying, like the high end digital whip models. But I'm not bummed about it, because my SSV can easily provide more vapor than I can handle, and it's just the right vapor/air ratio that I like. The actual production of vapor remains a simple process of applying the correct temp. After that, the main difference is how the vapor is delivered. Some vapes are more efficient than others, but if it's a quality unit, efficiency can be controlled by the user to a large extent. And efficiency and enjoyment aren't always the same. My herbalAire is as efficient as they come, but I enjoy the SSV more because of the high vapor content per hit. And two different people may have opposite opinions on the vapor enjoyment content of the same vape. Different strokes and all that. Ideally, vape buying should be like buying a car-try before you buy.

Can anyone compare the xl to the reg unit. Do I need to spend the extra money and get the xl for the adjustable control or is it not necessary? Does the fixed unit get hot enough? Does it work well with low grade tobacco?

It's designed to vape at 180-190. Marcuss says it does fine without the regulator. My Purple-Days vape has no temp control and stays in the vaping range all the time-never lacks heat and never burns.

as max said the reg unit simply does the work!If i'd buy again i'll go with the regular..it is smaller and cheaper...the regulator is an extra...i left mine at the same place when i found my right temp!

Yesterday i made a dry session and it was amazing!...this vape is the king for me....but.....i already broke the heater chamber...my bad!....already ordered a new one....a bit pricey...45? with shipping

the problem is that this vape bake me totally:ko:....then dealing with glass is very hard!

Hi Guys,

i am a vape user for years now and have had them all, VOlcano Digit, Aromed, Verdamper,Vaporbrothers
etc etc. But i have never seen a great vape all glass.

So i am very but VERY interested in buying a herborizer.

Only thing is i can't figure out if the heater (stainless steel / ceramic) is completely covered by glass ??

Does this heater touches the airstream or is it all just glass ??

Dear Marcuss is it possible to make a picture of the heater ??

I really ean't to buy this unit only thing is sphere or tube hmm ??

Thnx

welcome on the right place spikyvape.....seems that you are a experienced vaporist so your contribute will be helpful for the community!

well...soon come a nice pic...right now i can say that the heater it self is in stainless steel and it is inside the airstream...my idea is that stainless steel works better than ceramic because it can maintain a steady temp also when you hit the vape....so every hit is just like a punch in your face....WITHOUT BURNING!!

i asked to Sebastien why he is planning to make a total ceramic element for the herbo heater, this is the reply:

"We have decided to change the heating element for a ceramic one, because our exactely customer prefer the ceramic, but for the moment, i don't know if If the efficiency will be identical, for the moment we make tests"

i'm fine with the steel....also from the purple days creator i saw only pros with a stainless steel element....i know now ceramic is the trend so Sebastien must follow it to sell more!

I agree with everything marcuss had to say r.e. the xl & regulator discussion here .I leave mine on same temp . I have a fair size tupperware bowl for packing that way you drop - no break , it's worked so far anyway . Plus I have an automatic great place to store vaped herb. Got a fair bit of it since buying the herbo . I still don't know what to do with it . So many suggestions on the other thread. I thought for sure I would have trouble with breakage but so far so good .

Dry session , now there's a thought . Thank you marcuss.

I think it's a shame that the 'metal is bad' myth may end up making the Herbo less efficient. Stainless steel, as well as quality aluminum, as is used in the Volcano, is perfectly safe. There are still people who question the safety of the Volcano due to its use of the aluminum block heater/exchanger.

From the Storz & Bickel site:
"The top temperature reached in the heating block 240C (464F) is by far below the temperature that is needed to emit any substances out of the aluminium alloy AlMgSi, melting point 660C (1220F); boiling point 2519C (4566F) used by us. This is documented by an analysis of the air produced by the Volcano on top temperature made by the University of Leiden, Netherlands."

Steel and aluminum heat exchangers are excellent for retaining heat, enabling a more steady temp during use. The excellent SS exchanger (with fins for more surface area) that Tom came up with for the Purple-Days vape supplies the vape with plenty of back up heat so no matter how hard or how often you hit it, a good vaping temp is still available. Sebastien wisely incorporated stainless steel into his heating element to give it that same heat retention and efficiency.

Although I don't know if I'll ever own a Herboizer, I intend to email Sebastien and urge him not to sacrifice efficiency on the 'altar of ignorance'. I think it's better to educate people and dispel myths than it is to make a vape less than it currently is, in order to satisfy people who are wrong in their thinking.

This same thing has happened in the world of digital cameras. The 'hype' is that more pixels are better, and that's only true to a certain extent. It's more complicated than that and the resulting 'pixel race' has compromised picture quality in low light situations for many cameras.

I think I'll ask Sebastien, if he goes through with the heater change, to save a few of the current heating elements for those of us who appreciate the best efficiency. I know that if I ever do buy a Herbo, I'd be willing to pay extra to get the element he's using now instead of a lesser, all ceramic one. :disgust:

Hey does the whip attachment come with the req unit or does it come with the xl. Can I buy it? Does any one prefer the whip over the glass tube attachment?

Beta vs. VHS. Unfortunately, in the market place the better product does not always win.
