Da Buddha

How often do you guys replace your screens? I vape about a gram a day and find it needs changing every other day, but it could partially be from this strain. I only say that because I've cut down and use a lot less, but find myself replacing it more blah blah blah.

Also I'm using an SSV with the standard wand instead of the GonG, but I still figured I would post here. More traffic.

i use my DBV almost everyday and i only change my screen maybe every 6 to 10 weeks. i don't change it often at all. i use it till it's hard to pull through. i sometimes sort of "clean" my screen by turning buddha all the way up to full power then putting an empty wand in place and pull on it. it vapes some of the stuff on the screen and my screen is easier to pull through and i get medicated with nothing in the bowl to boot!!!

Thank you for that, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I'm stirring to hard? I use it until it really becomes a pain to pull through. I like what you do with your screens though, not a bad idea. I wish I would have saved all my screens since I've bought my SSV, because about a week ago I got the idea to make QWISO hash with them.

i change my screens almost every day... maybe every two or three...
i keep a little baby jar with ISO in it that I soak my screens in while they are not in use, i give the jar and occasional shake to try and knock of particles etc.

Yea they widened the hole on the inside and from the looks of it that probably saved them money because it needs less glass lol.

Hi! Longtime lurker feeling the need to finally post something!

So I've been smoking for about 16 years and quit cigarettes 2 years ago. Still smoke my daily hash joints and weed in my pipe if I really wanna get stoned. For a while now I've wanted to quit smoking and combusting entirely, so bout 2 years ago I bought a VaporGenie. It was ok and fun for a while, but too much hassle.
So this week I finally ordered a real vape, Da Buddha, my new friend. I'm just coming down from the peak now and I am blown away. I never expected this vape to work this good! I live close to Amsterdam, so the quality of the bud around here is pretty good. I got myself a nice haze today after 12 hours of work and since my Da Buddha arrived before i went to work, I was excited to get home. Somewhat unfortunate, I promised my girl to go to this big jazz festival in town, so I had to delay my date with Da Buddha.
Finally when I got home I immediately unboxed my new vape and read the manual. So the vape is heating up and the hose is soking in hot water and I'm grinding my haze. After 20 minutes or so I installed on the couch and loaded up Da Buddha! Filled it to about 1/3 and set it at 10 o'clock. I think I got about 5 very nice hits and I spaced away for almost an hour before I could get myself to write this. Incredible, only 5 hits @ 10 o'clock and this effect! I love my new vape! I must say that I had 2 beers and I don't really drink so that added a bit of effect as well, but still, this is awesome!
Thanks to 7th floor for creating this epic vape and thanks to everyone on the forum for all your info, it really educated me on vaporizing and helped me to decide which vaporizer to get.

Welcome to the gang lame - you definitely picked a great vape for a starter piece. I love my dbv and continue to use it 2 or 3 times a week. I started at 10 o'clock too, now I'm a noon kinda guy. Lol, feel free to drop me pm if you ever need help with your Buddha. Great first post... Peace

I've had mine for a couple weeks now and I've gotten used to packing less and lowering my heat. Its all personal preference, I just found I prefer to take a smoother approach to vaping.

I was looking at the DBV bong adapter that 7th floor sells but that looks like the adapter attaches at the wand end. I assumes the adapter woudl be in place of the default mouthpiece which would go right into the bong so you coudl clear it.

Am I right about this?

Back from a long hiatus! Forgot my old pw...and account name...lol

Anyway, I've been a longtime Da Buddha fan and you are correct. You attach the adapter to where the mouthpiece goes and the ground glass attachment goes into the slide of the downstem. However, you don't need to buy one. I just stuff the whip into the downstem, it works perfectly on 14 and you have to push it deeper into the downstem with an 18

I just hold my whip up to where the stem would be on the bong. The seal isn't 100% or anything but it does what it's supposed to do. Sometimes I prefer the straight up DBV but others I like a little humidification if I feel like I'm a bit dry.

Also: I got a little bit of material inside the heating element somehow. I can't see much in there but I can smell it burning. How do I get stuff out of there? I have a little handvac that might work but is it gonna mess anything up in there? I tried gently turning it upside down and back but I really don't want to be tapping it and shaking it upside down because that is almost always a bad idea with any electronic device that isn't designed for that kind of movement.

Sorry if I sound stupid I don't wanna break the damn thing I just wanna clean it.

(The angle is slight, but is opposite of the ssv upward angle) Is this normal, or is my hc on wrong?

I also tried getting the hc off to clean the burnt herb off, but the metal clip that holds it wont budge.

Gently pull and twist off the heating cover and when reinstalling it pull on the brace (metal clip) in order to make more room and gently twist on the heating cover. Note: the metal clip is very tight.

My DBV wand to heating cover is exactly horizantal or very close to it.

Thanks, got the heater cover off, but noticed on some youtube videos as well that my wand (and some others) are angled slightly upward. Not a big deal, I just figured the hc might be on wrong.

While I'm here, I'll post some of my initial impressions after using my new DBV for the past week.
First of all, this is my first vape, so it has been an entirely new experience to both vapes and vaping.

I'll start with some positives:. a) The unit itself came very well packaged, the bag and included accessories are all high quality.

b) I usually fill the wand with enough to cover the screen, but have tried more and less, but from what I read, 1/8 of the chamber is standard fill. I couldn't imagine getting more hits from less product (ie. more, "efficient" vapes) Cranked it on (really like the solid feel of the knob) and after it heated up had no problems immediately getting clouds.

c) really like the look of the unit itself, the silver anodized aluminum looks great anywhere.

Some concerns/questions/not necessarily cons:
a) While it can be hands free, this is not exactly worry free. The wand is fairly easy to yank from the heating chamber. I have read of people twisting the wand to lock it in place better? Not to mention the silicone tubing catches on just about anything nearby, especially leather couches and furniture.
b) The silicone tubing does not want to stay in the handle of the wand either.
c) I read of people getting solid hits at 10 'o clock. I usually do not seem to get any noticeable vapor until at least 12 or 1 on the dial. Maybe I'm ignoring the non-visible vapor.
d) Do you guys just leave the wand in the hc after a session or leave it by the unit? I don't like the look of a wand and tubing on a table so I usually set it somewhere else.

Overall I am very pleased with this unit. Aside from the angle of the ssv wand preventing spills, I haven't thought once that I should have gone with that unit.

The only thing left wanting for me, personally, is something easier to move from room to room and possibly lacking the hassle of a wand (LSV?). The addition of a portable or maybe a log to the DBV could cover any situation.

Regardless of price, this is a great vape. The majority of my problems likely stem from just not knowing what I wanted from a vape.

I'm new as well, and also went with the DBV. So welcome to the club from newb to newb. I hope you love it as much as do :-)

Just as a piece of advice, it does take some time to figure out your "Sweet spot" between heat and draw time. If you crank up the heat, you gotta draw faster to control the temperature. If you ain't getting vapes, you haven't set it high enough. Just edge it up slightly until you do. DONT burn your materials though because the sucks and makes everything stink. I started out at around 75% heat but now I'm down to just a touch above 50% or "12 o clock". Try drawing very slowly. It takes a little patience but you'll figure it out pretty quick.

As far as how I handle the wand (LOL) I'm certainly not a "master" at it... (ok enough of that)

Seriously tho, I used to just turn the DBV up to about 75%, put the wand in, twist it, and vape from it for about 5-7 hits then I'd dump my materials. And you can too if you want. Then I started turning the heat down and stirring here and there. Then I listened to Vitolo, who discussed of basically never taking his hands off the device. He keeps one hand on the wand and one hand on the mouthpiece, then takes it out and stirs after every hit. IMO, this is THE WAY to go and get the most out of your materials. You'll get more hits and they'll be more potent.

Ultimately though, you will figure it out. You gotta find your own likes and dislikes and how you approach this device. It's rather simple to use, you simply need to figure out where your preferences are and you'll be fine.

I was mistaken; I checked last night and my wand is at angle similar to yours (about 5 degrees or so).

I received my DBV a bit over 3 months ago, so I am also a newb. I can tell you that I loved my DBV from the beginning; however, I am still refining my technique (I only do about 3-7 hits a day). When I started I took slow long drags, but now it seems I can get better hits taking harder shorter drags with the temperature increased compared to the slow long drag technique. Also, I now vape smaller bowls that are loosely packed; I suck into the whip while inserting it into the hc in order to keep the product evenly spread over the screen; and I stir between every hit. The DBV is easy to use, but it appears to take some time to master. I can honestly say that I love my DBV more now than I did when I received it.

I LOVE that bubbler. That's pretty much exactly what I want for my Vape setup, although I'd also like a non-removable mouth piece. How much did you drop on that glass and from where, if you don't mind me asking?

I got it from the DNA Genetics shop in Amsterdam. It was on special for 122 euros, with the standard (non diffused) downstem and bowl. I got the diffuser as an extra, for 22 euros.

All this watching and reading about vapor bongs made me eager to create my own setup so when I read bleak's post about DNA Genetics, I thought I'd have a look, I already wanted to go to Amsterdam to buy some Greenhouse bud, so I thought I'd drop by. Unfortunately the bongs @ DNA where beautiful, but a bit above my budget. I walked around a bit, looking for bongs and came to this tourist/souvenir shop that had awesome bongs. Told the guy I wasn't gonna pay tourist prices so he made me a nice deal; €75/$95 for this one;

OT; after 1,5 week with DBV I'm still learning to find my sweet spot, it seems to differ a bit. I have even combusted @ 12 o'clock, maybe I'm pulling to slow? It does seem to matter if you twist the wand during inhaling, if I don't I can easily combust, but very local, it's only in the middle, so twisting seems to help. I guess my lung capacity is not that big, as I cannot prevent combustion @ 2 or 3 o'clock, you have to pull hard and long I guess?

If I'm not mistaken, there are some variances as to dial position and temperature between units.

Mine's lowest setting is 9, and I generally vape between 12 and 3. I make adjustments as I'm vaping, although I've come to realize one is probably better off just picking a dial position and adjusting draw speed.

Controlling 1 variable is much easier than controlling 2.


BTW:

Has anybody else modified their DBV to angle the GonG connection downward? I just added a cardboard wedge to the base and it's stable at about a -15 degree angle.

Yes that's the tricky part with the dbv, but controlling 1 variable is indeed easier. Unfortunately the draw with the vapor bong is different again. I seem to be able to go higher, up to 2 o'clock with the vapor bong setup.
Oh and my wand seems to get stuck easily when I go above 12 o'clock, had to put it in the fridge yesterday to unstuck it
Any way to prevent this?

Handling the wand (giggity) is pretty simple. Don't push it in to tight and make sure it's never wet. I don't have to play with it (giggity) too much with the Buddha as I only get about one or two stirs before spending a typical load (giggity). The Buddha is my oldest vape but always remains my go to desktop. I start my bowl around 12 o'clock and finish off with a heavy blast at about 3 o'clock. The DBV never fails me.
