Well in my eyes thats two different key words:

Portable: Something you can carry around in your pocket or small bag and can be used without an electrical outlet.

Stealthy: Relatively small that can be used in public without anyone noticing.

The Solo is a combination of both, but leans MUCH more towards portable than stealth. Its stealth if you put it in a drink cup or tuck it in your sleeve, but isn't as stealth as many of the newer vapes.

Portable? Yes its very portable. Walk around your house, yard, garage, put it in your pocket/backpack to use in the car, etc.

But if someone sees it up close, they might understand what it is, so not exactly 100% stealthy.

BTW, MrNorml you hit it while riding a bike? Without going into the possibility of a DWI or the extra concentration you need while riding on a bike, why not just pull over and take a break/toke.

Unless of course you're talking offroad/trail riding. Doing that on the street is just too dangerous IMO (coming from a fellow rider)

Just to add ,
Stealthy can be for big things also , eg . US Stealth Bomber .
I just think stealth for us means to be able to hide it or use it secretly .
So I get what you mean mr.

For me ,
Because we live in a world of curiosity seekers .
Whatever you put in your mouth and start sucking/inhaling on , and then
exhale a cloud vapor ( small or big ) . People will instinctively wonder ...what's going on ?

So I have never used it in a Mall , movie theater , Macdonald's ...etc .
I prefer to medicate in peace and Not be disturbed by questioners .
The Stealthiness was never a factor for me in choosing the Solo .
But the small design size and feel of the Solo helped greatly in my selection of the Solo .
That part is true .

As for portability , 100 % yes .

I ended up ordering a second M107 from Amazon, for $136 shipped 2 day(prime account) as my back up. The prices keep dropping, esp. for the "older" models. I am so pleased with my M107 that when I saw it listed as such on Amazon, I couldn't help but put one in my cart. I know these have the possibility of replacing batteries if they go bad, but I would be pretty upset if I lost, broke or otherwise suddenly did not have use of my Solo when out and about.

As far as stealthiness, I wouldn't go puffing on it in a place I felt worried about being approached, but when I do use it in plain sight, I feel it looks a lot less like smoking something, more like taking a sip on a straw, juice box or something. I just feel less nervous about it, unlike my e cig style portables that still look like you are smoking something. I am sure we all have our own ideas of what is comfortable when it comes to vaping in public.

Hey congrats jam ,
That is a nice deal .
Plus free shipping ?
Which color ? Black or Silver ?
And obviously , the warranty will be valid ?
I've never done biz. with amazon ...yet .:)

And my Silver M107 is already considered an older version .:\

well, I didn't mean they were ancient, just past being the current model. that's what the " was for ;) I bought my first solo from amazon, and have had no problems with it, paid closer to $170 which was still a screaming deal at the time when they were over $200 elsewhere. As far as I understand it, Arizer does honor the warranty from Amazon sellers, as long as you can produce some kind of sales slip. I am not very concerned with warranty work. If it craps out in the first 30-45 days, I think I can do a return through Amazon. Oh yes, got another silver model. I got my first one some time around Feb. I believe. It will be interesting to put them side by side, and see if there is any performance difference. I mostly use mine plugged in w/ the AC adapter, to save battery life. Just a heads up, I found an AC adapter for under $30 shipped on ebay, a while back.

Question.... If you were shopping with portability as the main factor and only planning to buy one of the upgraded stems would you get;

the GONG because it is small and possibly less fragile (is it thicker?)
or... one of Ed's because it won't ever break (but is bigger as a trade off)?

Those who have the current GONG stem, would you throw a MFLB battery cap on it and toss it in your pocket with no worries, or does it still feel like a really fragile piece? Anyone direct draw of that GONG? How is it?....I would plan to use it that way on the go. TIA
Having now broken 3 glass ones, I'd go with unbreakable...

Blaaaaah
I wouldn't necessarily throw it in my pocket and forget it but I do carry it my eye glass casefrom time to time. If you take any advice from me take this - do not get the stem with a carb on it - that little son bitch gets hot as hell and can become quite bothersome on your last few tokes.

Yes, the carb is useless and very annoying. I ended up tossing my carbed GonG stem, no more finger burns and I actually get to enjoy bong rips with my solo now haha

Just received my PA this morning. Hoping to do a vapor-bong session after about an hour and then cut the grass.

Sadly my charger has been giving me issues. I have to move the wire coming off the wall outlet plug, sometimes wiggle it, and keep it one certain way for it to charge the Solo. I've kept it in pretty decent shape too since I got it in April, good thing I can get a generic replacement pretty cheap but it still works for now.

With the PA though its even a smaller issue. Hoping to give this thing a shot and seeing how badass everyone keeps saying it is. No better way to test it other than vapor-bonging, hoping I can walk straight enough to cut the grass

If you're joking than ha ha, if not then I highly suggest you don't operate machinery like that or you may end up with a mangled foot, or worse ;)

The PA is a must have IMO if you intend to preserve your battery and use the Solo near an outlet. Do keep in mind though that a small trickle charge of the battery is still used with the PA.

just got my 2nd m107 from Amazon today, charged it up, gave it a quick warm up to 7, no smells, all seems to be running as it should. The stem was tough to get in, but once I got it in there, and gave it a few wiggles, it seems to be loosening up enough that I won't have to struggle. I'm going to use it for a few days to be sure it's running properly, since Amazon has an easy return policy if anything goes wrong. It will be nice having 2 solos charged and ready when I go out away from home for any length of time.

**first sesh with solo #2 going just as expected. :ko:

Now if PV could make the "Poseidon Trident" Gong adapter so you can make a double-Solo cloud sandwich video for us... :)

My severely mangled(modded) solo is holding up beautifully, but it just needs a battery pack(AW IMR?please) from Centizen(no rush, I'm patient).

Hi there! I read an interesting review for the solo that said:

"It is a cleaver design, and well engineered except for 2 major details. 1st the heating element is made of stainless steel and is surrounded by a heat absorbing piece of plastic (if they would have used ceramic instead of plastic it might have been worth keeping), so no matter how long you heat the thing you will always get a plasticy metal taste."

Here's a link to the full review http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B005CXAJHY/f=1/ref=aw_cr_f_hpc?qid=1345914131&sr=8-1

I'm currently on the waiting list for the HI and wanted a really nice portable in the mean time. For those of you who actually have experience with the solo, would you say there's any truth to the review above regarding the plastic metal taste?

I would say an absolute no on that.
and as for all those bad reviews,.....
Those that chose to shop at Amazon, rather through an Authorized Dealer, must accept what the transaction reveals.
There may be no warranty, or there may be a unit that is not right for some reason.
I save by shopping at Amazon for some things, but a Solo would not be one of them....
While I know of folks that bought on Amazon and are happy, I also know a couple that are not at all happy.
I have owned each model of Solo now.
I have ordered a half dozen M104s(very popular)
I ordered a half dozen M1D2s
I ordered 6 different model 107s for local patients(from OFFICIAL authorized resellers), and I charged and tested each with the patients present. No heat absorbing plastic, no taste, no smell... no fact behind the man's comment about "plasticy metal" taste, at least not in my experience.

I did the manufacturer recommended max heat cycles to burn off residue from manufacturing, and I have not experienced any funny taste whatsoever. I routinely take it to seven as well as low temp sessions on a three or four. Taste has never been an issue.

My experience has been different, but eventually it becomes taste neutral. Every single one of mine had a strong metallic taste of the SS, but not plastic. I could smell and taste it, but i'm hyper sensitive to these things. Eventually with usage, it goes away and is a non-issue. Just make sure to do many burn off cycles.

PACQUIAO!!!
I purchased my m105 used from someone that had purchased from Amazon. I was going to do a return because it initially had the electronic smell. Arizer gave me zero issues as long as I had the original receipt. The receipt is in someone else's name but it didn't matter. Arizer will still honor the warranty. I never sent it because the smell eventually went away after a few months. Don't be afraid to shop at Amazon.

I have M107s (bought from Amazon) both are working well, no funny tastes. I like it so much I got 2!! and in case you are confused about all the different numbers, there is a label on the bottom with a number for each model.

Hello all,

Today I have officially joined the Solo club, just got mine in the mail and it's charging up as I type haha. I have been reading this forum for a while and I feel pretty well educated on the Solo, but when I got mine I was thrown for a loop. I know the different models for Solo (M104.M105,M106,M107,M1D, and whatever other versions), but my serial number goes M1A. Did I miss something in the forums, or is this a new version or just the same M1D with a different serial number. I'm sure there probably isn't any performance difference, I'm just curious if any others also have this M1A model. I can't wait to pack this with herb and see what all the hype is about!

Arizer has stated in the past that this piece of "plastic" is actually high temp mica.
