Well, I finally tried out my Cloud tonight and I have a question. Is it normal, at the ten o,clock heater setting, for the unit to take more than ten minutes to go green? It seemed to work fine other than the long warmup. Also, mine either doesn't tick or I'm deaf. Either is likely.

Who's whining? Just stating my opinions/questions/concerns as a potential customer, and SM55 answered them quite well. I have other opinions of whether certain things will come to fruition, and rightfully so based on the history of the last 2 years.

SM55, I do appreciate the time to answer and address these questions. I was under the assumption that you were releasing more than one HT imminently, I was wrong. IMO it just seems like VXL has gone from "hype" to "corporate". Just my opinion. And I didn't know the botanicals were so involved, perhaps you shouldn't advertise things that don't exist yet.

Do you even buy any products or do you just ask a thousand questions about them and continue to be skeptical. If 238 posts doesn't tell you what a great product this is then nothing will, perhaps when you finally are able to try one you'll see what you've been missing. But I guess til then you can keep asking questions til your blue in the face.

I'm going to cloud it up til I'm blue in the face lol.

Peace

WTF? I've used a Cloud probably more than you have lol You're harping on me for asking questions? Wow, isn't that what this forum is about?

....yeah well I deal with the public all the time...people are irrational, impatient, demanding, and that's their good points...and the internet HASN"T helped...

Perhaps customer service isn't your forte? With a society that has had customer service go the way of the do-do, and things costing what they do, what do you expect?

mine takes about 15-20 mins. to go full green at 10 o'clock setting. mine ticks pretty loud, so I don't know what to tell you on the ticking,

Jam, you may have the older firmware with the led issue. My friend's Cloud goes from red to green within 10 minutes regardless of the temperature. In fact I believe 10:00 occurs within 8 minutes on it. I have 2 other buddies who bought earlier clouds and the also reach noon within 10 minutes.

IIRC...

Older firmware didn't have an LED issue. It was a later tweak in the dial/temp setting by SM that resulted in different LED behavior.

My Cloud will go back green in a short amount of time with any temp changes and instantly with small changes, my brothers Cloud (newer) takes 15 minutes or so with temp changes or any movement of the dial. My Cloud turns green in 10 minutes from power up, my brothers about 20 if the knob isn't touched.

SM said not to sweat the LED behavior and if its been on for at least 10 minutes at your desired setting you're good to go with enough heat to produce vapor.

My unit has this problem. Since it was identified as an issue fairly quickly, I believe it was quickly fixed, so there probably aren't that many units out there percentage wise that share this characteristic.

I can send my unit in for refurbishing whenever I want. I have decided that I can't bear the thought of being without my cloud for very long so I'm going to wait until I go on vacation in October to get the fix.

It works fine as it is, but ultimately I'd like to get the LED issue resolved to have a perfect-working cloud.

yeah, it will sometimes flicker from red/green when I pick up the Cloud, or if I move the dial. I don't worry because it's working fine. I am used to the way the Solo would heat, blinking light, solid at temp, and then the light would blink while hitting it. Makes sense if you are hitting it, the air is cooling the tube and the heater would activate. Not sure why it blinks when the Cloud is being moved around, but it doesn't bother me.

Amid The Vapors...
I own a Volcano also MGG. It used to be my everything. Now, I just use it to re-toast my Cloud ABV a couple times a week. Still has a use, but that's essentially it for me.

My wife still likes the simplicity of the Volcano bag, FWIW.

don74y3: Just be patient, they are waiting for new hydratubes. They should get vertigos and showerdomes very soon. Evolver HT's are more common, they're not in stock longer than average now, so new ones should be there soon too. You can alwys hit the "notify me" button on any package you want and it will email you when it gets in stock.

done that at least twice for each one as advised from support!! when they had a few in stock i didnt get email>>> so not sure if it works or?? It was just an expression being known..... I can do nothing but be patient!! Yet no harm letting the ones involved know im lurking!!! So off with the bases then!!! just the bottom!!

It's very new system, we expect it to have glitches. Recently they were forced to change the site to the today's appearance and function and they were forced to do it fast. It was way more glitchy at the beginning than now and it's still not perfect. If that happened to you you should email VX and tell them about the notify button not working as it should. I think it's not necessary to depend on the email, when they get packages they are not sold out immediately, it takes days, so checking once everyday is more than enough to get lucky. It's only few days they are out of HT's and it's now longer than usual, I'm sure they will get a lot of them very soon. I have to be more patient. Excited for 2 years and still waiting months for an international version which also seems to come soon.

I don't own a Volcano; I use an Extreme-Q for bags. But AFAIK the vapor produced is essentially the same. Comparing a bag machine vs a passive draw is somewhat apples-oranges because obviously each has an entirely different delivery system. So you may prefer the bag for social passing around or solo leisurely sipping, although that can be done too with the Cloud or another passive unit, it's just less convenient. Vapor wise though, IME a good passive draw - especially the Cloud - will provide fresher better tasting less harsh more dense vapor.

My wife, not a regular vaporist, has preferred the bag for it's ease-of-use and because she isn't comfortable taking the typical draws off whip machines. For her vapor has always been harsh, especially with the bag. With the Cloud her experience is entirely different. Even though hitting the Cloud is more involved than hitting a bag, the better quality and comfort in the vapor has won her over.

Both excellent products, but design wise they're apples and oranges. Most experienced vaporists consider bag fillers to be a delivery system used to get the job done, while a good direct draw vape (this one being excellent) is usually what most end up with in order to savor the vapor experience. The hits are easily varied if you like, one from another, by changing the temp, and as OBG noted above, fresher than hitting vapor sitting in a bag.

 It's a really smooth hitter that has converted quite a few users who previously didn't care for the inconsistent and/or heavy hits from a direct draw model.

I'm quite thankful for VXL's presence here, and I disagree about the resources. When a question is asked three plus times and never answered, you may wonder if these botanicals that are advertised are just a cover to help their sales/operation. There is no reason not to answer certain questions when SM55 and Troi are reading this thread practically every day. We are a MASSIVE source of their sales presently, and I just think that the occasional updates would only help future customers, myself being one of them. What happened to the hounds being released and their new manufacturing/fufillment process?

Weren't the new HT's supposed to be released by now?
Keep it up and you'll find yourself on the wrong side of the rules. We don't tolerate this type of passive-agressive posting on contributing manufacturers for long. I suggest you review the 'be nice' rule dealing with companies.

As SM55 explained on the page before this, they are busy manufacturing and fufilling orders (even though they have no stock?). Troi will post when they have new stock, which is supposed to be "late august" so i'm guessing any day now. I thought there were going to be a few more new HT's, but the hype was just for that one inline HT. They are also supposed to be selling HT's separately soon, and maybe Cloud's too (not sure). I do know from email communication that the pricing will favour buying a cloud and HT together BIG TIME.

Can any new Cloud owners confirm that the firmware LED issue has been resolved?

Jam, the Cloud LED should not go to red when you take a hit. The perpuheat system provides a stable temp regardless of how hard you pull. As for picking the unit up and it flickering, I have no idea...something sounds quite sensitive in there.

Jam, the Cloud LED should not go to red when you take a hit . . . As for picking the unit up and it flickering, I have no idea...something sounds quite sensitive in there.

These are characteristics of the over-sensitive firmware. Mine does this sometimes, too. The red might flicker momentarily, or stays on for a little bit before returning to green. Doesn't affect performance in any way.

II've had my cloud around a month now(since the website opened). The light acts as I would expect it to. @1030, it takes about 12 mins to warm up, then the light stays green for the most part. It will go red occasionally when picked up(I assume airflow over a sensor is causing this)no big deal, and kinda expected. On occasion when I put a cold elb in there, it will flicker, once again, kind of expected. And yes the occasional HARD pull will make it flicker...despite what Jurassic said, I expected that.
Guys, if its not changing colors occasionally(and ticking) then I feel the "range of temp" at any fixed setting is going to be bigger, if that makes sense... Really the "over sensitive" ones(mines not) are most likely to be better at holding a specific temp with less of a range around it. When I heard they were over sensitive, I wanted one just as much. In the end, thanks VXH for fixing the "issue" so quick. Now my main constructive criticism would be that my unit(jul20th or so) seems to be a hotter one. I don't see myself ever using it above 1, actually I have never gone above noon. Noon gives me ABV as black as I would ever want it to be, and I like high temps. Ideally, I would like my noon setting to be my 230/300 setting, with the opportunity to go full black above that for the really crazy vaporists.
With all that being said, this thing still amazes me day after day. You can take an elb down in 2Big pulls, or milk over 6-8. Anyone who tries it is amazed, combusters, vaporists, it doesn't matter. One guy sounded like my grandma trying to convince herself not to purchase something..."im afraid ill pass out with my face on the ground joint" that was after"man, I felt that one in my hands", I told him you could pass out on your heating iron too....
This is probably wrong, but the cloud has probably made it on my very short list:family, tools, then cloud...if I lost anyone I'd cry first, then continue to piss pound anyone who had something to do with it.
Good work VXH, very happy customer here.
Jurassic, you seem to know more about the cloud than anyone. I think you should get one....
