Sounds like you hit the nail on the head m8 the raid contraction caused by the cold water will defiantly not be good to stress the glass with rapid temp changes even if has boron added to the silica it still will move and if there is not enough room for it to do so as it is a super viscous liquid (glass) then moves quite allots and if it does not have the room to do so and it has sufficient forces involved the liquid will part or 'crack'.

Cleaned my wand last night. Then I took a couple seconds to clean my pick, and the wand fell off the counter to a 3 foot drop and broke... :uhoh:

Just bought a fatty wand because I usually used about 3 bowls on the standard wand per session. Hopefully it saves me some time. I also bought a hands free attachment, which I think I'll use occasionally depending on the situation. $45 out of my pocket because I wasn't careful enough (I was pretty careful) while cleaning... and because I'm impulsive enough to buy accessories I don't need . Beware!

I tell you what it will do as well almost zero out accidental combustion! Well it did for me and it alows the heat helix shape to actually have enough clear path to form then it almost suspends the herb in the airflow, run it hot bro! 3-4 pm

is there a simple way to change the heater covers? i like switching from the standard to the gg heater cover, and i always have a problem with trying to get that little tiny shim back in. i was thinking about seeing if 7th floor would blow me a piece that fit into the gg wand with the standard hole on the end. so i could just use the gg heater cover, and put this little adapter in to switch between the 2 wands.
Flickr - Where exactly does that little shim go? I took my heater cover off a few days ago and when I put it back on I had no clue where to put the shim so i guessed...

I have only had the unit for about a week now and words can't describe how incredibly happy I am with it. One thing I have noticed is my AVB isnt very dark even after I have taken 10-15 hits with the knob up pretty high. My AVB from my Iolite is a dark brown (almost looks like tobacco) but the AVB from my surfer is only light brown, almost even tan w/ hints of green still. Has anyone noticed this same issue?

the little shim gets stuck behind the big knotched shim. its a little tricky to hold the shim in place while trying to stab the bigger shim over the top. not something easily done with big hands. although i have found to put the large shim on first and push the smaller one in under it.

Thanks for your help Frickr. I'm an idiot, I just read the FAQS on 7th Floor's site and they mention something about a bent piece, which is the small shim, which is what I thought was bent because of me, and I bent it back. Like a moron. Its been working fine but I think I will try and fix it tonight, if I can't hopefully 7th Floor will lend me a hand...

Maybe you're drawing too hard. Long slow draws are what you need to really toast your herb. The air is being heated by the element as it passes through, and drawing too hard won't give the air enough time to heat up properly.

I notice alot of people are posting pictures of there wands as well so heres what ive got at the moment :)

Fatty Wand with almost all THC packed, Yummy. I prefer to hit this wand at high temps around 3-4 o'clock

Standard Wand and whip, I start hitting at 2 o'clock gradually bringing it down b3tween 12:30-1:00

Spherical Ground Glass with Unobtainium Water Filter. Still on the learning curve with this one but seems to hit nice and smooth at higher temps between 3-5 o clock

Spherical Heater Cover

Beautiful vape. The PD and him will get along just fine. Great combo.

Have you compared the spherical to the standard and if so, can you post up the pro's and con's.?

Here's something I thought mite interest some people and hopefully get some feedback on what people think.

The standard heater cover fits right into the Spherical Ground Glass wand nice and tight. I havent found a good temperature for it yet but Im guessing since the wand has a fairly large opening and seals right over the standard cover that if I pack a fairly large bowl liike the "Fatty Wand" and hit at a medium consistent speed around 2-3 o'clock that it should make some nice vape clouds lol atleast I hope. If you have any suggestions that would be great.

First off thanks lol, Honestly I jus got it a few days ago and am still in the learning curve myself. I havent had time to extensively perfect the spherical ground glass kit yet. But I have tried it out and it seems to give off very nice rips around higher temps between 2-3 however with that said I wouldnt be surprised if it could hit jus as well at lower temps. Hopefully others who also have the spherical kit can give feedback as well. For now I cant really say I found any cons with any of the Wands I own haha.

Dang, outta customs and they still don't ship it. I have never had this problem before in my life with Canada's customs, must have been the sellers fault, they must look bad or something. Maybe obvious packaging or they actually wrote Vapeworld on it or something stupid. Making it go through an x-ray and drug particulate testing and whatnot. Won't be buying from Vapeworld ever again...

Mark,

Lo

Combustion free since '09
Canada custom's is hit or miss as I ship packages there myself regularly. Also have ordered from Vapeworld on more than one occasion. The packages are not marked vapeworld and they are familiar with shipping to Canada. I hope yours arrives soon but it might not be Vapeworld's fault IMHO. Good luck!

Wow that sucks maan. Im actually from Winnipeg, Manitoba and Ive ordered tons of shiet from 7th Floor for both my SSV and DBV and i means tons lol. It usually only takes about 1 and a half weeks for me to get my stuff from them. I get mine shipped out to a friend who owns a local headshop. So what are you expecting anyway?! SSV with some custom pieces haha?

I jus got an aroma top for my SSV the other day. I didnt really need it, but I thought id try it out anyway I mite enjoy the nice smell in my room. lol turns out that It made my vaporizing experience a lot better. And its not because of the purpose its suppose to serve haha. Rather than diffusing oils to make my room smell better I use the top just to keep the temperature inside the SSV nice and warm soo when it goes up the carb whole on the heater cover it heats up my greens in my wand faster thus giving off a thicker hit compared to vaporizing without the aromatop. :D

For my SSV, combustion starts to occur closer to 3-4 o'clock taking medium consistent hoots. So normally I set mine to 1 o'clock with or without the top. However with the aromatop on at 1 o'clock the hits feel like I have it cranked up to 3 o'clock and almost combusting my weed lol. Yet when I check my wand out after 3-4 thick rips, it has just barely begun to turn light brown at the top. Soo basically I'm in love with the aromatop right now lol but not for what it's suppose to be used for lol .

Have you tried using any oils yet? I am planning on buying the GG kit from 7th Floor this weekend and I was on the fence about getting the aroma top. Do you just drop some oils onto it and thats it? I read something about adding wax and that confused me...

really? It doesn't seem like it would make that much difference in the temperature inside the wand... maybe make the outside of the SSV hotter...

Sidebar: Are the SSV heater covers compatible with the DBV and vice versa?

Sorry if you misunderstood what I had posted. It doesnt affect the temp in the wand and it also doesnt make the SSV unit hotter. It's all glass and does get hot but should not be used at high temps past 2 o'clock according to whomever I had spoken with over the phone at 7th Floor the other day due to risk of it cracking.. The aromatop seals over the top of the SSV completely exposing only where you attach the wand to the heatercover. So what I was trying to say was that because of the nice seal overtop of the SSV the air inside of the unit that your gonna be pulling up the carb hole on your heater cover when you draw is already gonna be nice and warm. As oppose to without the aromatop where your pulling in cold air and using the ceramic element to heat it up as it goes into your wand. I hope that kinda clears it up I tried to explain as best I can if its still confusing I can draw up an easy diagram on paint lol.

And for your other question. No they are not compatible with each other. Both SSV and DBV have thier own style tops but both work the same way on both units.

No I have not tried any Oils yet but I have tried the wax melts and they do work quite well actually. Definitly masks the smell but then again vape doesnt stank too badly anyway. But yea it does its job really well not to mention making hits a lil more potent lol. With the melts you jus let it sit and do just that haha let it melt. I believe what your talking about is a method where you add 2 drops of oil as the wax balls are starting to melt.

I would suggest getting the Standard kit and getting the GG heatercover or vice versa but in my opinion the hits are great with just the standard alone haha. I just recently picked up the Spherical Ground Glass heatercover and im slowly starting to find its sweet spot. But its your choice lol just my :2c:
