This country would be far better off of those who don't contribute to society didn't vote.

So TP, where does it end? ok, so since I'm disabled I can't vote. And, as others have postulated on this forum, if I consume say high fructose corn syrup, or cigarettes (don't do either), then my healthcare should not be subsidized by healthy people who know better. No doubt there is a problem meeting needs with limited resources, but disenfranchising the elderly and disabled is not a solution. Where does this kind of thinking end? Oh yeah, here:

George Bernard Shaw, Fabian Socialist:

"You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence? If you cant justify your existence, if youre not pulling your weight in the social boat, if youre not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it cant be of very much use to yourself."

"I appeal to the chemists to discover a humane gas that will kill instantly and painlessly. Deadly by all means, but humane, not cruel."

It is a problem, lwien. It's a problem for Republicans who feel that too many black people are voting.

So they devised a solution. Restrict access.

It's pretty simple really.

In Ohio, they actually tried limiting voting hours in Democratic leaning counties, but extend it in Republican leaning counties. They're scum.

Yeah, I know the REAL reason, but this made-up reason made to disguise the real reason is just so transparently bogus, that it's almost embarrasing.

Stewart said it best. Talk about creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Photo ID's to prevent voter fraud. Next up? Leashes for Unicorns.

seems to me the only purpose of TP activity is to destroy society. so if my wanting a strong society is class warfare, then i'm guilty as charged.

and i'm interested to see if the TP people who say "keep your government hands off my Medicare" are going to vote for Ryan, who wants to end Medicare as we know it. The inherent contradictions are simply delicious.

my real problem is that i use fact based analysis, being a product of a liberal east coast university. That is, i'm not afraid of reality, but i do fear the TP - i have a problem with irrationality.

^^ Talk about creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. The amount of voter fraud that has occured in this country is infinitesimal. It is such a non issue that to use it as an issue is ludicrous.

Here's a funny take on it……….just for laughs. Watch the vid: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/09/jon-stewart-fox-news-voter-fraud-video_n_1759628.html

Voter fraud is rampant in the US. in an ellection where the winner won by a margin of 341 votes 1900 felons voted...

al franken was loosing his ellection and somehow found 80k ballots all in his favor.

don't lie we know you democrats like to vote 20 times per person ( documented on you tube) vote for the dead

Everyone has the RIGHT to vote, plain and simple. Republicans are already trying to suppress votes in key states. I bet you support that too.

Not trying to suppress anything just keep one vote per legal citizen.

funny vickie you talk about me supposedly wanting to restrict right of other when you vocally call to restricts the rights of gun owners and those who don't want government running their health care

Funny because most of the tea party supports black candidates....swing and a miss

So TP, where does it end?

Right back at you where does it end?

social security
social security disability income
section 8
food stamps
public subsidized npr
public subsidized planned parent hood
free cell phones
free meals at school
school for illegal aliens
utility assistance
pell grants

where the fuck does it end? only 53% of Americans pay federal income tax. where does it end when those who are on the dole out number those who actually work and pay taxes?

cute deflection

Republicans are trying to get laws to keep voting legal an honest passed.

I myself, personally would like to see only those who; Pay federal income tax ( and actually pay and not get more back than they paid in), property tax, capital gains, or those who have served in the armed forces of the united states be allowed to vote on issues that fiscally impact others.

If you want a say in thing you need to have skin in the game.

oh, okay Tea Party, i think i finally get what you're trying to say ... it's turtles all the way down.

No, what you tried to do was deflection, trying to change the subject. I am trying to stay on subject, and the subject at the moment is voting rights.

Republicans are trying to get laws to keep voting legal an honest passed.

If Republicans are trying to be honest, I have a question for you. Why limit the voting times in Democratic leaning counties, and extend the hours in Republican leaning counties, like Ohio tried to do? How is that fair and honest?

Again, everyone has the right to vote, and no one has the right to say anyone can't have that right, not even you.

I'm not a "republican"

also why do libs try to limit the voting of military member actively serving the country.

Again, everyone has the right to vote, and no one has the right to say anyone can't have that right, not even you.

just like you have ZERO right to tell me what I can and can not own to defend my family.

No one did that. That was a proven Republican lie. http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2...-lawsuit-to-restrict-military-voting-in-ohio/

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/08/16/husted-orders-uniform-voting-hours.html

"His decision came in response to a growing controversy over disparities in early in-person voting hours across Ohio. In most urban counties, which have the state’s most-Democratic electorates, the voting was being confined to normal business hours. But in several more-Republican counties, hours were being extended into the evenings and Saturdays."

Your reply, although completely self serving, does nothing to mitigate what you said about disenfranchising people whom you think don't contribute to society. So, who gets to decide if what I did is, or was, a contribution to society? You? A government panel? Who gets to decide? And how much was my contribution worth? Chemo if I need it but maybe not that liver? Who gets to decide?

And I never said the government should be in the income redistribution business. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The social contract that many people find themselves collecting on was not entered into, or payed into, by choice. You might think about that TP.

I wouldn't do it. Why give up something you love for a job?

First I would have to look into why I would want that job. Is it just for the money? because if it is, I would rather do something else that I actually enjoy ;)

Giving into a drug test would be like me accepting to myself that ganja is a "drug" and it isn't a wholesome amazing plant that we are meant to use, and also,, doing SOME (key word some) jobs lifted is nice anyways

Still waiting for you to answer my question of why certain semi automatic rifles should be banned other because you don't know any thing about guns and they scare you.

Or why the fuck I should pay for your health care...

When you answer my previous questions which you continuously deflect away from then i will answer yours.

I asked you first, and the subject is VOTING RIGHTS! You were the one trying to change the subject, not me! (same time I caught you in a lie) Scroll up and look, but you already know this because you always avoid my direct questions to you. That's why I hate discussing anything with you, because you do this.

There is only one reason the Republicans tried to limit voting times in Democratic leaning counties, and extend it in Republican leaning counties in Ohio.....VOTER SUPPRESSION. And, you know it! That's why you keep avoiding my question over and over and keep trying to change the subject. If it's not voter suppression, then you tell me what it is.

NO actually I asked you first

I asked you on july 29th to describe an assult weapon and why it should be banned, this is all you could come up with

Once again, the subject we were all discussing in this thread was voting rights. However, you keep wanting to change the subject back to a topic that the mods here have already said that they really don't feel would serve any purpose to continue. I refuse to allow you to keep baiting me into a guns argument because of that very reason. So, STOP!

Now, back to voting rights. There is only one reason to limit voting hours for Democrats, voter suppression. You actually approve of it, that's why you keep avoiding the subject, right?
