Ed's TnT Wooden Vapor Tubes & Vapor Stems

Hi Ed!

4 days ago I received my black solo along with your Granadillo stem from PuffItUp and I absolutely love both of them. The finish on the Granadillo is beautiful and I love the fact that I can use it in my water pipe.:D There's just something about having a hand crafted unique wooden stem that makes this more special than a glass stem for me. Also your stems make the solo much more portable for me since I don't have to worry about breaking any glass.

When the solo is hot though its not possible for me to pull the stem out of the solo without separating the SS and the wood. It's not a major issue though because once it cools down the SS and the wood hold firmly together. Regardless I love your work and I plan on adding to my collection soon. :)

try a small screw on clamp for automotive vacuum lines. Mine only comes off when I screw off the clamp to clean.

I am trying to figure out the best way to clean my stem. Can I pop out that screen and easily get it back in? It looks hard to reinsert. Also can I use a cotton swab dabbed with iso on the inside part of the wood stem?

Finally should I be using linseed oil or anything else on the wood to keep it nice?

I apologize if this has been answered but the is returning too many results to find the info from my phone. Is there a FAQ I just can't find?

Sorry for the delay in response, have been in a spotty area for internet and not able to be on but a minute at a time here or there.

Keegan, glad you got the piece and do like it but hate to hear you are having the separation issues. You can try to wrap a small narrow piece of paper over the wooden shaft that slides into the SS and then jam it in the metal, this should work as a shim and hold when in use. If this does not work for you email me directly at ed@edstnt.com and we will go from there. I stand behind all my work and warranty all pieces.

I appreciate the input Kush!

JL you can pop out the screen and clip with a ram rod that was with any purchase from me. If you dont have one you could use a pencil or something to push them out. You can then dip a swab in ISO and then squeeze out the most of it then push through a few times, let site and dry then install the screen and clip. You may not need the clip but I suggest using it so you wont loose the screen.

I hope these tips work and wish you all well.

Thanks Kush :). I will check that out.
note that if you screw down to hard on these they could press impact marks into your beautiful wood. I used a paper shim (baking paper) but eventually would get hot and lubed and slide out. I found the auto micro hose clamp works best when you use some paper wrapped around the stem that lays under that clamp, will provide a raised edge flush against the stainless steel, let it grip quite well, and not damage the wood. It won't be coming off unless you need to clean by first unscrewing that clamp. IF you use enough paper (or baking parchment paper) you can cover the metal entirely that sticks out of the solo so you never get burnt. Cheers, and keep up the beautiful wood turning stems Ed!
Question Ed, have you ever taken apart your solo and noticed the outside cover is just a metal cover that slides on, with 4 screws on the bottom? I was thinking with the right lathe, it wouldn't be impossible to turn your own solo encasing, with even a thicker wooden base, with enough room to run the power adapter extension straight up. Just day dreaming mate!

Soo I haven't had a chance to pick up the clamp yet but I did try the paper shim and it seems to be holding nicely even after running the solo on 7 :)

Wow Kush that is a great idea! Wouldnt that be bad ass to seee a wooden Solo case? I think so but not sure how easy that would be!

Glad the paper has worked for you Keegan, I hope you have had some time to enjoy it.

Just so everyone knows Solo Stems will be back in stock tomorrow but in short supply, will only be granadillo until they run out and in a couple - three weeks all should be good and all four species should be back in stock and all should be good with no more down times. Pls if you want some you better get em now!

I took my screen and C clamp out to change the screen, and now I can't figure out how to get the C clamp back into the bowl on my solo stem... any help?

place screen in stem first, then slide half of the clamp (the small notch on the end) in touching the top of the screen, I like to take the other side of the clamp and just place it enough on the other side that the wood can grab it, Then I use the wooden dowel to push it down hard, requires some force. I don't think the clamps flex very much. It's all about position. Good luck. A clean screen is a happy screen

I had to use small needle-nose pliers to get that sucker back in. I'm thinking an even smaller pair would make it easier, like the kind used for jewelry.

Good morning, glad you got it back in and all is well Jam. Thanks for you all input Nic & Kush, I really appreciate that! The clip is really tight and can be tough to get in. I put the screen in, the mash the clip as much as possible then slide it down in, the ram rod can used to push the clip in place so your good. The clip may not be used also, I feel the screens fit really tight also and may hold in place but the clip ensures its not going anywhere.

Good news all, have a short supply of Granadillo Solo stems back in stock this morning, the price has gone up $2 for each species due to the new design and added material as well as work and travel to make them even stronger. The new design has the SS pin installed as stated earlier just through one side and does not harm airflow. Have had several inquiries for these over the last couple of weeks, have 18 in stock and should have all four species back in stock within 2-3 weeks. My time is coming up with my metal guy and will have a bunch of work done.

Here is some new pics of my latest dugouts -

Even have some new metal pipes I wanted to show off and see what you all think. These have been made with a 45-70 cartridge and a 30-06 cartridge, the 30-06 has been cutoff at the neck and the brass is pushed into the 45-70, the neck of the 30-06 is used as the bowl and has been pushed into the casing of the 30-06, the primer has been taken out of the 30-06 for the draw hole. This thing really hits, I know you all are not big fans of combustion but thought you may like the innovation put into these.

Your dugouts look awesome, Ed! However, the new tubes you sent us are equally beautiful. The Hawaiian Milo is really different than any of the others - almost 2-toned. Very cool. We really love the Amboyna one...our older one is about solid reddish - this new one is mostly tan with some red colored spots. Much fun to just kind of fall into the grain after a while! :ko:

The CRZ stems have a removable insert which is 9/64", these slide into a brass tip that is 5/16" hope this helps.

That vape is one of the first CRZ with bark on it that Rick made, came out just before the "Out on a limb" units. The bubbler is the shit! Sure wish I could find some one that is looking to get rid of their zap bubbler! I have no glass attachments at all and really had a good time trying it! The vapor is much cooler and very enjoyable.

yeah, I am hooked on water cooling my vapor. I have an AquaVape (5") that is similar to the one in your photo, lots of different ones out there to choose from.
