Discontinued MagickWand Vaporizer

finchrock24

Proud MMJ Patient
Success.

I have found a suitable work around at my local smoke shop. I have already tested it and it works amazingly well. Pretty much as good as stock. The only downside is that it is a little bulkier then the first one. This will fit in a down stem designed for a 18mm bowl and will perfectly fit the Magik Wand. I just used it and it is literally as good as new. Just have to find the correct screen and I found a combo that worked. If you are unable to attain the bowl piece I could probably pick up a few and send them out. The piece cost my $30 and it would probably about $5 shipping. A screen would probably be about $2 extra (must buy pack).

It works, I gotta. Good luck guys.

I have the owner on my FB friends.... oddly enough the only videos that were ever flagged and removed from my YouTube page were for the MagickWand reviews I did (they considered them "dangerous")

I honestly liked the MagickWand... but i'd have to agree - too much of a fire hazard..

as far as contacting him - try Facebook? He seems to log in every day... and as far as the vape, I don't think he's been focused on it too much - he's been talking about other ventures

He is who on Facebook?

Chris Taylor

or

Focused or not, maybe you can remind your friend he sort of bragged about his lifetime support for his products on his web page. Which would indicate some sort of future focus.

Such as:

"We Honor the Lifetime Warranty! We are now the second manufacturer to offer Lifetime warranty for Vapes."
&
"PS. Thanks to our product partner, VaporStore.com we can give you the high quality parts that make a lifetime warranty not needed but hey, we'll give it to you anyways! Lifetime warranty for everyone!!! Yay! :p"

So chasing him down on FB *might* help but the fact he pulled everything down associated with what he sold leaves me with that fly-by-night company feeling.

It does suck.

That's life though. I know he had talked about moving and starting a family perhaps his new location isn't conducive to his product.

Its tough starting a business. They can't all succeed in our economic climate.

Luckily we have a few users here with wands that can help each other. I still need to post my aftrrmarket bowl setup. Maybe tonight.

I'm looking at doing a trade to get one of these, but we'll be shipping our vaporizers to each other across the border. I was looking on info for getting the MW completely clean and if its possible so it can be shipped from US to Canada.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The only real issue is the bowl/wpa. You can easily soak it in ISO and/or boil it so it should come out perfectly clean. The heating element shouldn't really need to be cleaned, depending on usage. I shipped one spotless a long time ago. I guess it's possible with heavy use to get some escapee vapors that collect on the inside of the MW itself, but a picture should be your best guide IMO. Since it's mostly just glass, it should clean up no nicely.

Well it worked out well. We both cleaned our vapes came to an agreement and made the trade. Looking forward to my new toy (a little bit of cost shipping but helps mitigate my VAS!)

Enjoy, JCat.

Out of curiosity, what did you trade for it?

A glass Sherlock VG with the hard case and a glass vapo-bowl (both in like new condition-barely used). Learned I'm not a huge fan of the lighter based vapes. I liked the Sherlock VG but found I pretty much never used it.

I've really been liking my EQ with elb packs through a bubbler lately but would like something that would bypass the whip and be more direct. Hoping the MW will fit the bill and tide me over until I can get a Cloud

can you provide me with advice, how to clean the heater? Looks like mine was irresponsibly left on a place where wax was. The hot heating element soaked a bit of wax, leaving bad smell. How can I clean the heating element? is it safe to clean it with water of course turned off? Or it's better to do it with ISO?

I'd love to help, but sadly this seems to be above my pay grade. Can you post a pic? I can't imagine how wax could make its way to the heating element.

The hot end of the heater was touching the wax, the temperature was still too high and the liquid wax probably came behind the screen protecting the ceramic heater.
Can I wash the heater while being off the power?

I actually took my heating element out (removed the heat shrink and disconnected the wires) to get the glass wand that holds the heater completely clean (also replaced the screen and cleaned off the heater while at it)

I'm pretty sure cleaning the heater with a cue-tip with 99% ISO will be ok ... I just wiped off my heater as it was the glass that was really dirty.

... do this at your own risk of course as the Magic Wand doesn't have a warranty anymore to my knowledge.

Edit: I actually wish my Magick Wand had a little more heating power ... and maybe a better heating control with a thermostat built in to keep the temperature up ... anyone know where I can get things like a ceramic heating rod, etc.? --I was thinking one could actually build a fairly sophisticated one with an Arduino ... the sky's the limit as to the add-ons one could have (wireless control over your WiFi network ... control with your iPhone ...)

Nice ideas Jcat, actually, I have been thinking of removing the heating element as well, but I find it difficult because I have to cut off the 2 wires connecting the heating element, otherwise I cannot get it out. The knot that fixes the cord entering the wand holds it position and I cannot untangle it.
Can you post a foolproof guide (maybe with pictures) how to remove the heating element from the wand please?

I wish I could give you a "foolproof" method, but it's somewhat risky (I was worried about damaging the connecting wires to the element but it worked out fine .. they're pretty solid)

I used a little metal "pick" to pull the knot slightly apart and then cut the wires (they are just wrapped together under the heat shrink anyways) so I lost a couple inches of wire. After that I just pulled the wires up through the top, then pushed the element out. Cleaned everything, then re-assembled.

One could probably replace with the VHW element that's $30 (also has a built-in thermostat from the looks of it since it has 4 wires coming out) ... anyone have specs on this element?

Thanx JCat, this is cool guide how to remove the heating element from Magick Wand. I will try that later, but now I found out different horror. After longer session (1.5 hours+) the Magick Wand does not heat even though the green light is still on. I dont know the exact point or cause when the magic wand stops, but I can clearly have decent puffs after immediate heat up(10-15 mins), but after longer time the heater stops working no matter how high I set the knob. I can touch the heater with no problem, it just stopped working.
I bought new 300w voltage converter to use with Magic Wand, but I dont exclude it from this problem. Does anybody leave the Magic Wand turned on for longer sessions?
I noticed that when my Magic Wand is dead like this, the green light on the controller lights even on the very low settings. Which is strange! because everytime, the green light starts to light from the position 12 - 1 o' clock.
Does anybody use the Magic Wand via voltage converter (in EU?)?
Do also US vapers notice the green light is shining even on the lowest setting?

Anyway this is great vaporizer, and I will be really happy if I can manage this problem.
The light is still on that means transformer works. Maybe just transformer is letting less amount of watts after longer time of use or there is some problem with the knob controller. Or the wires are broken somewhere from the controller to the heating element.
anyone has some insight into this? All kind of help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Ok I've found out that the problem is in the cable somewhere near the entrance to the heating element. Hint: the heater receives the power only when the green light is OFF in the range of the first half of know settings (until 12'oclock) when the green light is ON in this range, that means the heater does not receive the power from the controller. When I set the Magic wand in the first quarter, green light is on (it should be off). But when I position the cord near heating element the light suddenly stops / starts in the place where there is a connection..so I tried to position the cable carefuly and let it heat. and it works flawlessly
I will try to replace the wire somehow, I have to consult some electrician.

Anyway this is great vaporizer,

When they worked, it was a great heat source for using with the GVG, I thought. But, two I owned died and his Lifetime Warranty boasts followed by his disappearance kind of left a bad taste with me. They both acted the same way as you mentioned with the light, I cut the wires and measured 0 resistance on each heater. Trash.

Main downside of this vape is the cord. One definitely needs to replace the cord if he plans to use it often.

Still no info on VHW heater in Magic Wand?
Btw before Hippi 'disappeared', he mentioned about new 55w heating element he planned to implement. Did anybody get lucky enough to get that piece?

I have just relinquished this proud piece of my collection to another member here at FC.
I live in an MMJ community, but this particular piece, and it's history would not be as totally appreciated as by an FC member.
Here is an old video from long ago, that I just reedited and added to as a farewell to my MW

Hi all,
During cleaning, I broke my 19mm bowl :( The walls near the screen are quite thin. Does somebody have an extra 19mm bowl for sale?

thanx

I wish we could help but none of the parts on this seem to be anything that we offered him. At the time we helped Taylor out he was making another vaporizer all together and this was in the future. He ended up owing us a lot of money for glass that we sold him. This was before he started this vaporizer in this forum. Any of the glass parts that he did order are available on our site but for the VaporTower or VaporBox. But, again nothing on any of the pics resembles anything we offer.. Again sorry we could not help.
