Oh god. I want it! :p

I've been wanting to do something with mine involving a specific mathematical phenomenon, but with a woodburner..

I hope you remember to post pics when you get it all finished, I'd like to see how it turns out. :)

Mine is technically still a work-in-progress, lol. I need to get my hands on a wood burning kit to make sure it stays looking nice. However, I've used it daily for weeks since that picture was taken, and it still looks awesome.

Anyone else with the PA having problems with the little button? I have to click it in a very specific way for it to work, otherwise it flickers between on and off, so it may randomly cut off my hits halfway through or at the beginning and the only way I know is because I don't see any vapor in my glass :(

I tried adjusting the front, back, and black plastic handle part to no real effect. Dang it.

When i first got my beta PA the button part would loosen up and make the unit
weak but not cut off. I had to tighten the button assembly to get full power.
To tight and the button would stay on, to loose and weak power. It took
awhile to find the proper tension. I made a tool out of a paper clip to fit
into the holes.

I already did that. Tightened them up a bit, loosened them a bit, tried to find a happy medium but no dice.

Shit! Well I guess its back to MF for a replacement. I know how annoying
sending it back is, but it is better than fucking it up real good and then
shipping it.... maybe not
I hope you have your batts charged and ready to go.

Hey does the transformer light stay on steady?
Maybe a short in a cable?

The button wiggles. That's it. Sometimes if I press it in a certain direction it makes "contact" and powers the box, but if I move it over a little bit, sometimes it just cuts out. I have a few Powerex and a stock battery... but... they just aren't the same...

Yes, I have been waiting for someone to mention this. Its been somewhat of an issue for me, but I have grown to deal with it and grew accustom of how to position it, I imagined it to happen to a lot more people than just I so I didn't bother asking for a replacement. But knowing that it isn't meant to do that makes me want it fixed.
The angle of the button seems to matter, from what I have experienced when the button is leaned towards the cord it stays on more consistently. Not to say that it doesn't turn on when fixed at a different position.
(But that is my PA, it may vary)

I have also been having touble with my PA. Sometimes I push the button and it gets stuck in, and the contents of the trench get burned. I have thought about contacting MF but have just been still using it.

Also since using the PA I have been having contact problems with the battery and PA. Sometimes I have to wiggle either of them to make contact. Pretty annoying.

My box does it too.the power is intermittent.there is possibly a build up of dust on the switch contacts. My battery part is rusting too where the button surround screws in.Im happy working with it and for the rust issue I will clean up using some light machine oil (3in1) and a cotton bud.

while I think of it, has anyone had a non working launch box that looks perfect in every way, new batteries regularly cleaned screen etc.but doesn't work at all.
My box is over a year old.It looks clean no tears in the screen black spots etc.but it just wont heat up like my new one which is now 2 months old.The heat produced has slowly died over the course of the year.I completely put me off my launch box, that is until i got a new one as a gift which works perfect.

I would love to keep it, ( I've modified the lid) ) but I have to hold a fresh battery in there for 15 seconds and some and very little vapor appears if any.there is heat generated but very slowly.

I'm I trying to understand what the problem might be.It may be an issue with lack of current travelling through the screen due to residue thats hard to see but has prenetrated the screen. any ideas?

Still use my MF everyday and it is the perfect on the go companion.

Does anyone know what would happen to a battery if I left it in the charger for too long? After vaping last night I plugged two in but forgot to unplug them and left them in all night. I didn't realize this until leaving for work so now I probably won't be able to get to them til later this afternoon. I know they won't be able to hold a charge well after this but my main concern is safety. Will I get home and find the batteries leaking battery acid, exploded, or something. I obviously dont want any damage to the house. It would be nice to know if I can put my worries to rest or not...

Edit: by the way, to add more detail, I left two batteries in the charger that were both completely spent.

HighlyEducatedScholar,
... I always leave my batteries in the charger, are we not supposed to?

The only time I had an issue with battery safety was when I accidentally put a battery in upside down. Leak city.

There's a lot of information about the chargers here: Chargers. That video describes only one of several different chargers Magic-Flight has used, but the general principles apply to all of them. The meaning of the lights varies.

Your batteries are safe. A day or so won't do any noticeable damage.

Thanks paka. I've never left my batteries in longer than the necessary charge time before. I figured I was just overreacting but at the same time didn't want to come back to a large smoldering pile of wood from what used to be my house haha.

Nah, to do that you'd have to put them in upside down. Nobody we know would do that, though. ;)

So I fiddled with my PA last night, unscrewed the metal plate in the back, saw some rusty stuff that bwade mentioned, but it was on the threads. I'll post pics a bit later as I cannot find my USB cable :(

I think it's not completing the circuit or something. There's so few actual parts to the LB that it's way easier to pinpoint problems. I'm coming up on 10 months now with using my box every single day and it still gives me a surprisingly even vape.

I'm curious about these reports of rust on/in the PA. How do you guys think that is happening? I can't think of anything I do that would cause rusting.

Can't tell if it's rust or something else...

What part of the PA is that?
That's the plate that would hold the click button to turn it on and give power. I can't tell if it's rust or if it's just RS (random stuff).

Edit: scraped some off with a razor, examined on finger under LED... doesn't feel or look like rust... some sort of glue maybe? Maybe a little grease to make it easier to screw in that dried out?
