I haven't tried the low setting yet. How did that work for you? Did you pack the bowl tightly and did you get a good amount of vapor?

The low setting worked very well. I didn't pack the load super tight, but I still got nice clouds and great taste!

Well, I just went ahead and bought it from VapeWorld with that discount code. I took free shipping, so I don't know how long it will take to get to RI - I am assuming they are in Cali?

points to the Pax having a hard draw and requiring a cigar like pull. That would give me a headache. Also I feel like you have be super quick with conduction based vapes as to not waste vapour?

I know it sounds like a downside but the thing with the Pax is it's not really convection. It's a new kind of vaporizer, a super-effecient but purely conduction vaporizer. Excess airflow is just not needed.

You can just pack it and pack it and it will reward you with thick voluptuous vapor and fantastic initial taste. You draw slow on the Pax because that's what gives you more intense flavor and thicker vapor.

It actually holds much more than I had first estimated, but this is pretty much the max (the heater door bulges out a millimeter or so)
(Also a little free advertising for a good doc' :) )

Draw is still just fine, it draws like a perfectly rolled joint or blunt. Too much flow means your lungs get too much hot dry air imo...

what is the least amount of material you can load and get a decent return?

this unit looks incredible, but i dont want to have to load .3-.5 g each time. what about .1g?

Slightly medicated has done more partial bowl testing than me but I'm going to go ahead and guess loading 0.3 and hitting it on medium three different times would be more satisfying than loading 0.1 and having to turn it up to high each time...

I bit the bullet, and damn does it taste good

I'm rather impressed by how evenly cooked each load has been. No black specs or signs of combustion -- which is one of my biggest priorities in vapes.

The vapor is thicker and more flavorful than that which is made with my Purple Days.

If you are on the fence -- jump off it onto our side. The Pax is impressive

You're packing it in there tightly right?

I have an idea for how to do 0.1g... when I come down a bit I'll let the mortals know if it works ;) I'm still reeling from that 0.68 bowl...

yes, I have been packing it tightly but nowhere near a .68 bowl. likely closer to .25 and I am very happy with the results. cheers!

can i stick my male joint in there?

cool i gave these a guys a call, almost time to renew for me :)

boobs! compare the solo to the pax for me...what do you think?

hmmm.. the pax is pretty much a upgraded solo, same vapor production and taste but in a smaller form without extra stem and fatter bowl.

Thanks boobs and turk.

Is it easy hit? I'm not interested in the cigar type hit that SliM suggests. If I can just suck on it with a normal draw then I'm in. do you hit it differently than your solos?

Guys it's not difficult to hit, it's just a slow draw. As long as you don't inhale as max speed it draws fine even with 0.68g packed...

Here's the abv from that:

Also, as promised, here's my technique for small loads. You'll see you really get your finger in there so make sure your hands as clean :science:

The first few hits you'll swear you were hitting a full bowl! I think it's cashed on medium after after 5-6 hits but it's always producing and never combusting so if you're short on supply you can probably keep on going and/or vape your abv...

Here's the abv from 0.1g:

In reality it's all even brown like the edges but the camera seems to add green to the middle for some reason...

you can take long slow rips too but gave it a 15 -30 sec rest in between hit to let it build thicker vapor.

Thanks guys.

Joe...great pics! I like your posting style.

Boobs...where would you put it on the draw restriction scale with a PD, Solo, HI and MFLB (this one has restriction due to required slow draw).

Wax in Pax was a bit much for me on medium, wax seems to help conduction and I got some darker abv than expected, should have started on low... but my god

So, would you say the tight packing is necessary for proper vaporization, or just to hold the herb in place so it doesn't slide down onto the sides of the oven?

If you packed just one or two hits worth (not enough to get a tight pack), would it vaporize - even though the herb would probably all slide into a little pile, and not cover the bottom of the oven?

I'm looking for a good, portable, one-hit type vape. Thermovape looks good-but such a crap battery life?

I'm hoping the unit doesn't need to be packed too hard at all times IE those sad times where we only have a small amount but still need to vaporize. Joekickass's tip on packing down into the chamber seems to be a good trade off those times. I still haven't gotten it yet but tracking info received from USPS is a start.. Holding off on vaping up my stash before the pax comes. If you are looking for a quick one hit/multiple hit portable vape the thermovape t1 really isn't terrible with a set of batteries, quite good with flavorful dense hits with the right technique. Even the pax requires technique.

Both really, the heater seems to brown deeper down and leave the oven cover a bit green. I would probably pack 0.1g as a minimum and just turn it on and hit it as necessary.
