^^ Try pushing it in 'half' way, it will click and lock its self in the 'off' position

My pax box was not shrink wrapped either, I dont even know if there was packing material inside the white box, I was so happy it arrived I ripped the bag open then the box and couldn't wait to get the Pax on the charger. :D

I took it apart today to clean and also thought the same thing about the screens, I thought mine was wrong, and it should have holes in it.

After the cleaning, I packed a fresh bowl, filled it to the top but did NOT push it down, just made sure it was level with the top of the metal bowl and set the lid on. I turned it on medium and my buddy and I sat in my car with the sun blazing in our face so we could see ANY vapor that will come out. I started off by hitting it like a cigar, pulling the vapor in my mouth and then inhaling, holding for a few seconds and upon exhale there was a good bit of vapor present. I wouldn't describe it as a cloud, but there is visible vapor. It is still hard to hit, almost like a milkshake. After about 6-8 cigar like drags, I flipped it over, stirred it around and hit it another 4-6 times, stirred again then put it on high and hit it a final 6 times. Every hit is 'milkshake-like' but I find that method of 'hitting' works the best, and there is a decent bit of vapor present. I will also say we were heavily medicated.

My conclusion is even though it is hard to hit, and I dont get much vapor, the 'cigar-like' draw is my preferred method of hitting the Pax. To each his own.

Nope. I have had it since last Monday and this is the first time it has done this. It won't click into off it just pops back up.

I found my PAX in out clicker was getting sticky and then I thoroughly cleaned it. Pay special attention to the mouthpiece and to the stainless steel stem which is part of the clicking mechanism. It gets very sticky. Use alcohol and soap and water to make sure it has no sticky residue whatsoever. Once I did that it behaved as if new. Try that.

This is an awesome and helpful forum. I've been looking at getting my first vaporizer for a while and was looking at getting either a Extreme Q or a Puffit. I pretty much bought the Extreme Q until something really pissed me off at checkout time that made me reconsider while I was chewing them out in an email. When I started looking further into the the Puffit, I stumbled on this site and started seeing all the mixed reviews and the bugs that still need to be worked out. While reading the Puffit thread, I learned about the Pax and I'm psyched! So psyched that I placed my order for the pre-sale (Canadian) at 5am this morning through PlanetVape. Hopefully it'll be here Wednesday because I don't think I can wait any longer. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning to arrive!

If you slowly push down till you hear the first click and stop it will then pop back up?

Yes, it would still pop back up. Since then I rubbed it between my fingers a bit and then tried and it stayed locked down. So maybe time to clean it? Couldn't hurt. So that's the plan.

edit: Took the mouthpiece off, tried to lock it back again and wont stay down again, so we will see after it is clean

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
The HI you mean? Been on the list since March 2012.. I think I am about a month away from being my turn..

No meant inhalater since you try a lot of vapes. Isn't thta HI that really expensive one oh my.

I will do extensive testing on this when my new unit arrives as off-gassing has been the main fault of all my portable vapes(solo, no2, davinci).
other others. I use MMJ for my asthma, allergies and pain, I admit that I may be overly sensitive to this but that's just me.
<snip>
Well I just figured I'd try to get some info from people with new units who cared about this issue if it is present. Please disregard any post about off-gassing if you are not concerned about it, they are not meant for you.
Can you do us all a favor, since you've posted this a half dozen times? When you get the results of your "survey", edit your messages to indicate that there is NO offgassing of plastic. (Or the opposite, if your survey indicated otherwise).

The HI is a log vape, not expensive at all relative to other log vapes. Check out the thread. TV is a great forum contributor.

The Hi is under $150

No I have just about maxed out my toy spending for this year.. LOL

The HI will be my last vaporizer for this year.. With the line up I will have, I feel pretty set for a while.. The only other item I might get this year is the Thermovape Concentrate add on for my T1.. I mean I currently have no access to concentrate and dont really know how or have the means to make it, but want to get it just in case I ever do..

Big, can you test the unit on medium only first. Run it 5-10 minutes a few times empty, check with an led flashlight in a dark room. If medium is good, that's all I need and would be fine.

I'm sure some others may have a similar concern about this while I understand it may not bother others.

I use MMJ for my asthma, allergies and pain, I admit that I may be overly sensitive to this but that's just me.

Have you done any testing? Did you put anything in it before? I hope your right tho sticks, I regret not running the unit more before filling it. I was sure I didn't see anything when i did my empty burn-in's. It may be the gold film from avb still on the oven after cleaning burning off, I am praying this is it! I love the PAX and feel I'm being blasphemous, but I just need to know for sure.

Drastic.. Did the Solo really have this issue? I been all over the Solo thread and never saw talk of the Solo having off gassing issues. If you know the page can you reply back with a link please..

Well I have finally gotten to test the Pax. Amazing.
first off, if you are on the line of getting this unit due to a high price range throw a couple extra bucks in and you will not regret it. Getting the package and opening it up the exact second I got it kind of shows the anticipation I had. To hold this unit in your hands feels really awesome. I couldn't wait to charge er' up.

I started off using the low setting just to get a feel for it. I wasn't feeling anything to much so I turned it up to orange/medium. This produce much more visible vapor and quite tasty at that.

Basically I packed the oven as tight as I could and tried the cigar method (thanks to SliM) and it worked like a charm.

One tightly packed bowl was enough to get me and my girlfriend wayyy medicated for about 4 hours and there was still some flower that wasn't totally vaped! Needless to say, this is definitely the best portable I have ever used. I even went to bed bath and beyond and got a small felt pouch used to store your smartphones. The Pax fits perfectly and gives me peace of mind when it's in a pocket or in a bag instead of being out in the open.

Sorry this post was kind of long, I am just coming down as I type this and I was very excited to post my experience. Hopefully someone will be convinced into buying this unit after reading this. You won't regret it!

Happy vaping! :)

Yup its time to clean, make sure the little ring around the shaft of the mouthpiece is clean and can move freely. I'm pretty sure there is some magnetic sensors in the unit that vape goo will interfere with in the long run.

Also I found that to keep the device clean and operational for a good few years its going to be very important not to get any goo inside the device around the little pipe that goes into the mouthpiece, so make sure the tip and inside of the mouthpiece shaft is always clean. Think that's why Ploom wants you to clean it pretty regularly.

My wording may have been confusing to some, "this issue" was referring to the general issue of plastics off-gassing when heated, not stating that the PAX has an issue, that has yet to be determined.(good idea editing ur post btw)

Drastic.. Did the Solo really have this issue? I been all over the Solo thread and never saw talk of the Solo having off gassing issues. If you know the page can you reply back with a link please..

I maybe shouldn't of included the solo. I got one when it first came out and the robot fart smell freaked me out so i returned it. I hadn't found out about FC yet and was quitting combustion at the time so didn't think plastic vapor was a good alternative so I stuck to the volcano, just personal preference. But from what I have heard now it is not an issue with the solo. I was on my shortlist but then the pax came around.

Drastic,
I've been playing with this thing since the July 30th. All I can say is wow! The Pax has relegated all my other vapes to the dusty shelf. This vape is amazing. It produces excellent vapor with good flavor for the first half of the session. The second half tastes like your standard burnt popcorn taste, but still is producing pretty decent clouds. Maybe it's the medicine I'm using, but this thing gets me medicated fast! My only complaint is that it can get a little warm in the hand towards the end, especially near the oven, and I have had the mouthpiece get a bit too hot for comfort as well.

The design on this thing is solid. My buddy and I decided this must have been a hobby product for some Apple engineers. It feels and is packaged like it was approved by the late Steve Jobs himself (and he was a confirmed toker). It is simple to operate and rather foolproof. My only gripe with the design is cleaning the unit, but it's a minor complaint. All in all I highly recommend this to anyone for portable use, and at home as well. You may find this replacing all your vapes. The first two hits of the session from this thing are pure vapor heaven. Thick, tasty clouds. Yum!

I know its early on...(only 1 week of use)...but I think I'm now going to be vaping 100% of the time. No more combustion for me.

After watching iloveboobies pull clouds through that Mobius I ran home and spent a good hour trying to get my Toro clean enough to vape from. It was a failure. But now I'm obsessed. Must try this...Will either hit up my LHS or grab something from aqualab (unless you guys have an alternative online shop).

To confirm.... 5/8th inch vinyl tubing worked the best when making an adapter for water filtration?
