ordering mine asap! i want to thank you all for making this such an informative site. after lurking for quite some time now, my interest in the ploom finally got me motivated to join.

how would you guys rate the odor of the vape clouds? only vape ive had was the mflb, which was portable and low odor, but it didnt do much for me. would i be fine with a lit candle or open window? had to recently move back with the parents for a brief time and need to keep odor to a minimum.
cant wait to get my pax ploom!

I can't speak specifically for the Pax, but I've been taking mad bongrips with my LB and a box fan pointed into my room with no problems. However... not sure if my parents don't know or don't care since I make a habit of not leaving my stuff out. Lemon candles do well in my experience, momma loved mine so much I bought her one :) as assumed, the hot setting will most likely reek up the area. The less visible exhaled vapor, the better!

How is the airflow with .41 grams? I find over .3 the airflow is too restricted. If you can fit .41 grams in there and still get okay airflow that is crazy... I can't think of another portable that fits that much.

Oh the air flow is severely restricted, but puffing like a cigar method doesn't seem to require a lot of air flow vs. straight steady inhale. I think I prefer packing it tighter, it replicates the draw of a real cigar more closely which I like as well. I agree, its awesome that you can fit that much into it and it still hits like a champ... took it out disc golfing last night with some buddies. three heads got pretty medicated from a 20 min sesh on one oven load. just loving this thing more and more. going to pick up a second for home use so I don't have down time. I haven't touched any of my other vapes since I got this one

I always suggest having a bowl of popcorn, or a snack that smells similar (corn nuts) open in a bowl. to me vapor smells like popcorn

i decided i'll save the red setting for anyone thats skeptical if its producing a strong hit. on medium the AVB is already darker than what i get from the Extreme Q at ~200C and i generally prefer a tastier flavor to seeing huge clouds. seeing as how medium gets you pretty vaked I've just taken to not bothering with the temp button.

as far as pressing the temp button.. I like that its inside since you can't hit it by accident and like i said- i haven't been changing it at all after playing a bit. it could be centered on the other side, but something tells me thats where batteries are (hopefully far from the oven as possible).

on that topic - i've decided to only charge my pax once it has cooled (purely my own paranoia atm). while the temp of the unit doesn't burn me, it does concern me a little esp since some batteries can get warm on their own while charging (i've seen cellphones that will shut themselves down when overheating). i'd be curious to ask ploom if there is any battery temp monitoring.

lithium batteries do not require cool down to recharge. heat from lithium batts are created by positive ions being transferred to empty cells that "change" the polarity of the ion to negative via the lost electrons used by whatever device the batt is powering.

Many in the industry feel it is more beneficial to charge a lithium battery as soon as it is depleted. Lab tests show that a battery charged immediately after heavy use actually cools down faster than a battery left in ambient temps. The reason being, those volatile ions that were forced to become negative are now allowed to become positive again and thus reduces the cause of battery heat (volatile negative ions) is taken away and thus the battery cools down faster.

With the ago old notion of keeping batteries cool, the above simply continues this logic in an attempt to prolong battery cell life.

I work on this stuff in a university research grant (lab assistant). I might not be the head honcho there but I learn a hell of a lot about batteries.

Was just in a chat with VapeWolrd trying to decide which portable vape to go with and they pretty much sold me on the Pax. I might wait until the blue unit is available, they said just the black one would be available first, then the blue/purple around the 15th.

Look like my mind is made up, I decided to go with a vape for flowers (instead of concentrates) and the Pax (althought $50 out of my price range) is probably the best bet for me. Looks pretty simple to keep clean and the warranty puts my mind to ease.

Does anyone know where Ploom is located? Just curious for any warranty issues I may have down the road.

I was wondering what you guys would rate the smell of the unit when it is not in use? after some good usage what can one expect the smell to be like?
Cant wait to get mine :)

I just chatted with Ploom, they said depending on the malfunction of the Pax, they will just replace the whole unit with a new one for warranty issues. They come with a 10 year warranty!! I am totally sold, lets just hope they hold up to their work if/when a problem arises with the Pax.

Now I need to decide on a color, Cobalt (blue) or Onyx (black)...

I just spoke with VapeWorld, and they're expecting to resume shipping today. If so, I may get my Pax tomorrow. I hope, I hope.

Same here, ordered mine in onyx about an hour ago. Their customer service was excellent considering this is the first vape I'm buying. So stoked to open that box up..

I've been keeping an eye on this thread for two months now, was waiting for the user reviews, that's what's important!

Welp, you guys definitely convinced me. I just placed my Pre-Order for the Onyx PAX. You guys are a bad influence!

I've only been looking at this thread since yesterday and they convinced me! Had to make a FC account to be a part of this helpful community.

I know it's "taboo" to stray off topic, but this really is one of the best forums ever. I had a problem with my ThermoVape, while at a concert, and posted about it. Within minutes, someone had responded, and we had figured out my problem. FC rules :D

So, from what you guys are hearing, these are shipping out again tomorrow for everyone that pre-ordered an Onyx one?

Wow you had a problem during a concert..that must have been a bummer. People like to help out here it seems like.

If the above post is correct and they resume shipping today,
"if your order is placed before 2:30pm EST your order will go out the same day."

So we can expect to see them pretty soon I suppose.

Yeah =( This last Saturday actually. Ordered a ThermoVape on Amazon (my second one), and turns out one of the coils wasn't working. I didn't get the problem fixed, but I figured it out haha. Good thing I had my UnderDog in the car.

And thanks for your information. Maybe I'll get lucky and get it next week :D

Just called and placed my order with VW. They will ship out today BUT they dont deliver on Saturdays, so they will deliver Monday. BUT you can pay a $17 fee for Saturday delivery, that is what I just did. I hate waiting, so mine WILL be here tomorrow, cant wait! If your impatient like me, just give them a call with your order number and tell them you want to pay for the saturday delivery, and they will send you a PayPal invoice.

Just got mine this morning! Waiting for it to finish charging before I can try it. The packaging and contents definitely impressed me though, creative user manual design.

Hi im a long time fc lurker and this thread made me post for the first time too. Is the pax that good for big hits compared to the solo? Because with amazon prices I could get the solo+mflb for the same price as the pax. Which is more worth it in your opinion?

Does anybody get lights other than the normal purple, green and blue during normal operation?

I was having a problem where I'd get the color of the temp setting I was on during operation for no particular reason and it would show for a random amount of time 2-20 seconds. Nothing in the manual says it should do that. Only the three colors mentioned above are indicators.

The last few days its seems to be behaving itself.

weird you just mentioned that, just a minute ago i was using my pax and i shook it to check the battery life, the green light flashed once like it was telling me the battery status then it changed to orange like i had taken out the mouth piece. simply poking the mouthpiece downward fixed the issue, and it hasn't happened again since (i've tried a few times to make it happen again).

Interesting, because I thought it was somehow connected to the mouthpiece as well.

I clicked the mouthpiece up and down a few times, and its been fine since then.
