Putting whip down on table between hits without spilling material....

Anyone come up with a solution for resting the whip/wand down between hits, rather than having to hold it, without spilling out the material? Should be your worst problem in life, but still it would be nice if there was some kind of hook type apparatus that would hold it in place - the hands free concept only seems to apply to the "business end" of the whip....

My whips a handsfree one so I just leave it sitting on the heating rod. I love the way vapor steams off it when I remove after its been sitting ... cooking for a while

i just lay the mouthpiece end of the whip down first, then place the glass wand on top of it, making sure to not place the hottest part of the glass on the tubing.

usually tho, ill find myself getting stoned and zone out while holding the whip.

you and me both on all counts -
some sort of ring that you can attach to the side of your "work table" to keep the wand in a vertical position while you're contemplating the bow tie theory of the universe would be nice, though....

With the vanilla SSV whip, I do the same as tokinGLX-- seems to work fine.

For me, the issue is putting the whip down when it's connected to my ice chamber. The bong is small with not much weight so it'll fall over if not placed carefully. Hasn't fallen yet, but always need to be extra careful. But, I mean, that's like complaining about fresh ice chilled vapor.

My vaping position is a comfortable one. After a hit I'll have one arm (with one end of the whip) on one armrest of my chair and the other arm (and the other end) resting on the other side. Sometimes I've found myself sitting like that for...well, quite a while. :ko:

Better late than never!
I use the soft padded case that my Silver Surfer came in. I am in the habit of leaving the wand there not only with herb, in between pulls, but when empty and waiting for me to return. This bag sits within arms reach of my SSV.

If you dont have your SSV bag, use any similar bag, or a basket lined with a towel.
(even when sitting and holding whip between draws, I naturally roll the tube as you see it here, and hold wand facing up, but ready to sit in that bag)

Did you get the handsfree adapter with your SSV? I used to wedge it in between the frame and top of my desk and hang the wand in there between uses. But since I've started using a bong with the SSV I just sort of lay/hang it in the upward curve of the part of the tube that goes in the downstem of the bong. The glass wand kind of sticks to the tubing which allows placing it at quit an angle. Kind of hard to explain though, perhaps a picture would be better.. :/

I didn't get the hands free adapter... I am a "wand holdin' kinda guy". I do see just what you mean though, and the imagery of the placement of the wand in the "crux" of where bong and stem meet was as descriptive as a picture!

I don't place the wand on the bong itself. I'm worried that if I'll make a habit of that I'll break either the wand or bong eventually when I'm rushed or just being clumsy. I lay the bowl part of the wand on the tubing itself about 8 inches or so from where the tube comes out of the downstem, it's just hold in place by gravity and some friction between the glass wand and the rubbery tube. I'll try to make a photo if I'm not home to late today.

i have it attached to my bong always so i wrap it a little different ly than i do in this pic.

I will describe how i do it. I wrap the tubing around hte bong 2x nice and tightly. then I tuck the end of the whip under the tube going into the stem. i can even pick the bong up by the neck and the whip stays secure!

very handy.

also i heard of using the ride the wave adapter and jamming it in somewhere safe so that you can hang the whip off that works really well too.

i just coil it and tuck the ends to keep it from springing loose, then put it around a jar (or the SSV itself). Don't have many spills. Maybe you are packing too much at once?

I generally vape the whole whip at one time and dump it though, load a fresh one and repeat. In other words, try not to "store" it with anything in it.

Do you lightly pack your bud into your whip? If you do that, it won't come out being held in the horizontal postion. :2c:

I "air pack" it. I stir, take one fast draw (to pull material to screen) I remove from heat, still inhaling to "cool the mix". the herb is packed, and it will retain that shape, as it was lightly compressed while hot by your "draw'. ( or did you mean lightly pack with tool?)

I use the blunt end of a chopstick to pack it and I don't have a problem with herb falling out when I lay it down. I don't know where I got the notion, but I thought it was recommended to tamp it down after you draw it into the whip. I think for air flow purposes.

Ahh. I follow what you're saying.
I only pack it for the actual purpose of leaving it sit unfinished.
I stir between each hit with an upward stir, to loosen the stuff.
I follow your thinking, but I like to let the hot air flow around and between all the herb, as it sits loosely. It packs itself, and then after each pull, I stir and loosen it up again.
The beauty of the forum... we compare notes. Each persons techniques is different, but we each "get the job done"!

lol are you kidding? you just lean the whip again something, or lay the wand on top of the curled whip in circle... gravity is easy to overcome.

My non hands free SSV came with the hemp bag but it's too fulsome visually so I can't relate to having it in front of me as in between hits storage. The other simple solution works well for me as described above - simply resting the bowl on top of the mouthpiece end in a naturally occurring circular fashion.

what about that cluffy(I think thats was his name). He had a clip that attached to the unit itself(granted he had a da buddha) where you could attach the wand to when you were not using it?
