sure, i'll chip in some. if we get 20 people, then it's only $5 each.... ;)
i assume vtac has now seen this, but in case he hasn't...has anyone messaged him?
Cool, Placetime. That's 4 of us so far.

I think VB will need to get approval from vtac before making them. We should let him do it imo.

How much more would it cost to add one of these in the Bubbler???

The thing with a perc like that, more holes are not firing, than those that are when you're actually vaporizing with it. All the extra holes would do is improve the airflow when you clear it...but since its a small bubbler that doesn't even really help (like it does on a big tube)

Ok, ok, I'm in too. Count with me. All for the "FC 2012 Bubbler".
IMO, it don't need to be "official", this is open to all glass blowers in the world, isn't it?? Aren't we a www FC forum??
Let's vtac, mods, and us FC members try to create a FC kind of logo :)
IMO this will help avoiding "marriage" with any specific physical or legal person.
We don't want again more "patent pending" issues, sorry to bring it up now, but ... Will it happen if it's a success in $$$$ and name ???

So, I start, very simple...

heheheh...maybe instead of blasting "Fuck Combustion" on the side, it could say "u Fuck Combustion" (i.e., "unofficial" Fuck Combustion")

or maybe step even a tiny bit further away and put "I'm a Combustion Fucker" on the side

or, with vtac on board, stick with the simple "Fuck Combustion."

nice pic. :) maybe you'd be more interested in this thread instead? :ninja:

I think "fuckcombustion.com" done in lettering along the bottom-side edge, would be perfect.

Also, my avatar right in the middle of it, where a normal logo would go. :D

I am more than happy with small and simple showerhead percs in smaller pieces. I think they're exceptionally well suited for smaller pieces, as you get consistent and pretty full percolation from all slits and IMO, a favorite style of perc, both in forum and function. I love the (lack of) drag on most showerheads.

I'd make fun of the idea but I think the avatar looks cool :p

I agree, in this case less is more. That other showerhead is pretty, but I think what I'd like to see is a simple, tough, everyday worker. Something that is made out of good materials, is well made, and is at a lower price point. I'm hoping this can be accomplished with a small shower head. I like almost all of the specs I've seen, and can't wait to see what the Vapor Brothers come up with for us. Frankly the only reason I haven't bought the Mini before is because I wanted a showerhead rather then slitted.

If I can get one that is dedicated to FC somehow I'm even happier!

 great points!

one question---what spec(s) do you not like? what do you think should be different/improved?

Thanks for asking Place. Let me see if I got what we're trying to do here and then I'll give my wish list.

There are plenty of fantastic bubblers to be had out there and generally the starting range for something that's Boro, well designed and made. etc, is in the 200-300 range. Knowing the skill, time and effort that goes into making something like that I completely understand and respect the price. What I think I'm hoping to find as a result of this discussion is a well made bubbler designed specifically for the vapor enthusiast and that starts at a lower price point.

Sadly a lot of the time if there's anything under that price point there starts to be questions. How well is it made? How are the welds? Is it soft or Boro? What's the action like? etc. How many threads start that way? So I also think what I'm trying to get here also is piece of mind. People like to know what they are getting and who they are buying from.

So if I read this right the idea here is to throw out suggestions and see if there is some glass blower out there who'd like to give it a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained. It sounds like Linus at VB may pick up the ball and run with it. Who knows.

I also know that I won't get everything on my list. But I'd buy if it has most of the important stuff. With that in mind here is my wish list

I'm going to refer to GMs picture earlier in the tread for illustration purposes.

Important stuff:
(I've tried to rank these in order of importance)
  • All GonG - in case it needs to be said.
  • Borosilicate Glass - 3mm + thick this is where a piece starts to feel substantial for me. -Does not have to be Top End glass, glass from a reputable producer will do.
  • Shower head diffusion - a showerhead that is short, fat, and low down :D requiring little water.
  • Showerhead that is braced at the bottom
  • Strong mouthpiece connection at the body
  • Dewar joint - My preference is for a 14mm, but I can adapt to a 19mm.
  • Wide circular base
  • Height 7-9 inches tall
  • Made by someone "local" - support this growing business
  • L shape connection where the mouthpiece meets the body. Makes it easy to rest on the back of the thumb.
  • End of mouthpiece that is circular rather then flat or rounded off like a pipe.
  • Smooth backwards sweep of the mouthpiece - That's just aesthetic I know, but I like it.
  • Clear glass with little or no decoration
I think that is close to what I'd like to see. And I know it's a lot. And I'm willing to forgo some things for the more important ones. So here's hoping.

One more thing and I hope this doesn't rise a shitstorm. If we come down to any controversy over the use of the FC name or official vs. unofficial I vote that we do what we need to have the pieces made (hopefully as a ongoing enterprise for the maker). I'd rather have the piece, then any controversy that may arise.

Thanks for asking for my input.

Great stuff NewVape!

I don't have much experience with dewar or with a "regular" female joint (wow this is sounding all wrong.... ) or with any quality glass for that matter, but it seems to me that a removeable downstem would be easier to clean, right? What's least expensive to make (while still being "quality")--removeable stem or not?

I like the concept of removable stem, but then the joint would have to be quite large, maybe at least 29.2mm to accommodate the proposed shower head...
imho fixed down stem better suits this type of bubbler for that reason, the diffuser being wider

SVuser,

Removable vs Non -

Cost wise I have no idea. But I'm sure we can find out.

The main reason for a non removable stem for me is it allows for the blower to brace the showerhead with a small weld to the bottom of the main chamber.

As far as cleaning. I'd say if you're using it for vaping only a good ISO wash will make it sparkly clean.

And a Dewaar (spelled wrong last time) vs. regular? My list is in order of importance. Top items first :) Lower down you go more I'm willing to give up to make the price point.

That is totally awesome. And someone has A LOT of time on their hands. ;) It's totally doable using a saw and a lot of time to fire polish, but right now is a little over my head.

I'd probably be in for one with FC on it (especially if it actually said "Fuck Combustion" :D )

@VB--any story with that new avatar? is that a custom VB box?

OK this is definitely going to take some work and have some cost that I don't have at the moment but I really appreciate being able to gage the interest level. We are talking about what it would take to make a small run. Might mssg you guys individually to get a firm tally of who wants one. Might be in a month or a few. We're putting 100% effort right now into building a new invention for vaporizing...

Btw, the avatar is a vaporizer customized by our favorite illuminator Mear One.
Another picture here and here and here. Thanks for asking :)

That was off of a $600 bubbler. I think that's outta the question in this thread.

I'm in for sure. Can't wait for more details.

@vapor bros. Thanks Linus. It's great that you're interested in possibly doing this. I do think there is a niche here that can be filled. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. O

Yeah.... the "Fuck Combustion" would be nice. Normally I hate logos, but I'd make an exception.

Hell, I'll even pitch in to buy the first one off the line for vtac. If we get 10 people, it'll only cost us $10 each. Who's with me?
:peace:

Thanks, guys! No need to persuade me on this though. :)

Whatever the majority wants for a logo or no logo is cool with me. Personally I like the subtle logos. Maybe a small "FC . VB . 2012" or something like that. Gotta give credit to Vaporbrothers, too.
