the unofficial FC bubbler thread

What about the dude who blew the bubblers that Bob Loblaw has in the Classified section? Those seem pretty high quality for the price. Maybe he'd be interested in making FC bubblers?

I think this thread really got off on the wrong foot just because somebody posted pictures of a LW15 and a Mobi, giving some indication of what they'd *like* to see in the FC bubbler. Somehow this got taken as "IT NEEDS TO BE EXACTLY LIKE THE MOBIUS MATRIX BUT I EXPECT TO PAY NO MORE THAN $100 FOR IT."

I don't think anyone really said that, right? I think it was more to incite a discussion along the lines of "I like this part of the Mobi and this part of the LW15, I also don't mind the way Black Leaf does this part because it lowers the price, etc."

It would be ignorant to think that some blower, no matter how unknown, is going to make EXACT REPLICAS of Mobis or LW15s and sell them for $100. However, it's not ignorant to imagine that an unknown blower would be interested in the opportunity to make something that has certain qualities of these bubblers for a low price - maybe not $100, but maybe more like $125 - $150. Honestly, there are SO FEW genuinely high quality pieces available for under $150 that the market is wide open for someone to make one. The idea of a team of blowers working on something like this makes a lot of sense. They might not make a huge profit per bubbler, but they'd sell a LOT of them and get some nice exposure in the process. Hell, they could offer the first 100 units at a "low introductory price" and then jack it up once they make a name for themselves, if that's their desire.

Tea Party: It's clear as day to see that you look down on other people because of their ability to afford things vs. your own. It makes me feel sorry for you and sick to my stomach all at the same time. Fucking gross.

100% agree, sorry I said knock-offs before. We'll be taking the best features of any bubbler, right??? Right on my way too :) what I want, yes.
Have a design common and open to any blower, FC bubbler :)
With that we avoid someone overpricing it!!!
Be welcomed to down price it, lol
And try to blow it locally, cutting BS and mailing.
One world design...
Open world to glass blowers...
Thanks.

Howbout this?? 14mm dewar. fixed mouthpiece, fixed downstem. 5 slots. Currently it is $90 from here. Adding a proper showerhead would increase the cost by hmmm.. not sure yet.

We could change the etching on the front to say FUCK...

I broke down ALL the characteristics we thought make a vapor bubbler work well in the thread over here.

I'm sorry, the 18mm dewar seal has an uncanny resemblance to an open butthole. I HAD to change it to 14mm to break that connection. You're welcome.

This is our newest model, optimized for simplicity & perfect function. You like??

18mm= Goatse huh? yuck.

I really like the simple design of this piece and it certainly seems what this thread is about.

Can you get any more pics of the mouthpiece tube, Linus V? It looks like a slightly funny shape to me on the pic on vaporwarehouse. Kind of S shaped? But it might just be the angle of the pic, and maybe there's a bit of variation in that shape between each one?

Not knocking it at all, it's a great deal, but seeing as this is a thread talking about what we'd most like to see, I would have a slightly chunkier, wider bore mouthpiece tube, and shaped more like a curved J rather than an S. Perhaps a flared mouthpiece too (lips inside), although I expect that's a feature that takes a bit more labour. These things are very much personal preference though, and I'm not so fussed myself about a showerhead perc, but if it had that kind of mouthpiece/tube I think I'd buy two in a heartbeat. If it said FC on the front of it I'd buy three!!!

edit: and do you have any vids of it making pretty bubbles, Linus V? :)

I had thought about "FC" being put on a bubbler, but I hadn't actually thought before about the full "Fuck Combustion" on a bubbler. That would be really awesome.

IMO, even if they don't do it, I'll sandblast any logo and make a Fuck Combustion logo nice and tiny.
For me FC logo means more than any Möbius or SGW or Toro or whatever.
It's a revolution in the María Juana world.
I used to smoke for 20 years of my life what is called "monkey shit", pressed, ammoniac smelling, totally full of seeds, but so cheap, I used to have 2 kilos in my fridge, 1kg for around $100, that makes 2.2lb for $100. I was waking-baking Smoking Hemp papers king size before breakfast .
Was I smoking hemp for 20 years??? Damnnnnn :) lol
Then I moved to the US, NW area is paradise for MJ :)
Then googling strains I found a link to FC and voilà, here I am, in this awesome forum.
So, FC is my credo now.
Have someone already made FC t-shirts?? :) lol
Yes, definitely FC logo, revolution yeaaaaaa

It really looks awesome. I'm not a blower, but, would adding grids to those slits after being made, increase the cost of the piece?????
IMO, looking at those perfect slits, with just 1 full welded strip of boro running vertically on the side of the bottom of the downstem would double the bubble production, increasing diffusion dramatically, IMO.
From 5 slits to 10 in the same area, sweet :)

I think this is great that Vaporbrothers has put so much thought into this and that they're interested in chatting with people on FC about bubblers (FC is by far the biggest forum for vaporizers on the net, right?). There aren't a whole lot of bubblers out there that are designed specifically for use with vaporizers. There are the bubblers from Vapor Brothers, a few from SSV, the Zapbubler, Verdamper, Aquavape, and maybe a handful of others. It's a tiny fraction of the water pipes that are being made.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this, but it seems like the vast majority of the time when people talk about "high quality" glass, they're referring to pieces that were designed for use with combustion and/or dabbing (which I consider to be different from connecting to a vaporizer, at least in this context). The Wilsons, Mobius, Darby, etc make great stuff--designed for combustion or dabbing, not for connecting to a vaporizer. I think this is understandable, considering many more people combust than use vaporizers.

But, I hope that more glassblowers start to take notice of the growing number of vaporists out there and design bubblers that are specifically for connecting to vaporizers. I'm thinking that something for all levels of water pipes could be designed/tested with vaporizers in mind--from the simpler less expensive quality stuff (like the Vaporbrothers bubbler discussed above) all the way to crazy multi-thousand $ super-heady art pieces. I know there aren't huge differences in what's needed for vaporizers vs combusting or dabbing, but I think that design might be somewhat different if the primary use in mind is connecting to a vaporizer (for one thing, the bubblers automatically wouldn't come with bowls or nails or anything like that--they'd come with a tube adapter or possibly nothing but a femaie joint).

And, nothing I can think of would more clearly suggest that a bubbler is designed for vaporizing than if you blasted "Fuck Combustion" on the front of it.

i saw this for $150 at my lhs a few weeks ago.
What's that weird black sectioning off part midway on the mouthpiece? Normally the sheldon bubblers have the removeable mouthpiece, and that almost looks removeable...but certainly not a ground glass connection :hmm:

Certainly a precision tree for 150

SD_haze,

can i stick my male joint in there?
added someone vid above. i did a double take when i heard the price on it but at the time i had a similar piece so i didn't pick it up.

I had to look that word up. Gross. Glad they made a word for it.

Here's what I mean, but you can't really see what I mean. It's a proportions thing. You just have to be there in person. This is a Mini on top with a 14mm dewar and a prototype Maxi on the bottom with an 18mm dewar.

tumblr_m7a5reU3UN1rzuyr2o1_500.jpg

Here's more pictures of the mouthpiece on the current Mini. We might go toward making it more J like. The glassblower likes the S shape. People seem to like the flat mouthpiece more than anything.

As for videos of the pretty bubbles- I took a look on youtube and ended up wasting 30 minutes watching people take rad hits while I sit here caffeined up and way behind on email. No views of the mini though. The bubbles of the Mini aren't super fine like with a true showerhead but they're not too guggly either. We keep the splash down so you don't drink water when you inhale fast. The slits being wide open on our Mini are so that the airflow isn't restricted at all. To me, you shouldn't feel resistance in the bubbler. I see that people like many small bubbles though. We'll think about it. :)

I was also unaware of the meaning of Goatse, until I googled... :o
you people should also add to your posts-- "if you haven't seen it, don't go looking for it." it's one of those internet thingies that you don't want to see, and it's one of those things that you'll want to "un-see" if you've seen it, but then you can't un-see it. you've been warned. :puke:

Very good point.

I should also add the fact that thus far I have managed to avoid the sight of it. The internet has burned me a few times- there's lots I want to "un-see" and I'm very wary now!

I was clever- when I first heard of it I was suspicious and so I did a google "safe search- strict" to see what I could learn. I learned more than enough. ;)

So, anyone for cookies n jam?

"safe search- strict" can still be disturbing!
