vaporizer mouthpiece/diffuser's w/collection tray for wand oil

would you like a mouthpiece to easily dab out of?

Hey ladies and gents, I wanted to put this idea out there for you to discuss amongst yourselves(I'm ferclempt :) ).
So after using a solo/Evo for the last few months, I've noticed quite a bit of wand residue build up that is actually pretty clean. So I dabbed right out of it and it actually tasted alright, sweet, nutty, and potent enough to be worth while.
So my idea is to have a mouthpiece with a built in dish/trough/resivour(?spelling) that residue would drip into off the side walls, and then its there to scoop right out onto a nail or into some butter for cooking.
It's a fairly simple idea that could be accessorized into current vapes and future ones because its only the mouthpiece that gets altered. I did make a relatively complex(but cluttered) drawing of what I have in mind. Sent it to a manufacturer that has future vapes coming out, while he was open to idea's, I think my drawing confused the situation, because it more looked like my head exploded on paper than a cohesive engineer's drawing. It would definitely have to be a 2 piece design, so it can be opened and access the resivour. Some baffles to misdirect the air to condensate more residue on the inner walls, might help. I really notice a lot of build up when I'm vapor bonging, so the upside down thing might be a factor of how much residue can be gathered.
So that's it, not much to it, a mouthpiece that collects oil for you to dab out of. There's my idea, let me know what y'all think.
If its a hit, and gets picked up, ill take a unit or 2. If you guys hate it... I didn't think of it, must have been that guy.

It sounds cool, but I can forsee a few issues:
  1. Most buildup occurs at the business end of the vape, not the mouthpiece, just look at a well used solo stem.
  2. Oil seems to stick to glass, and not really follow gravity (again, look at a used solo stem), so I can't see it readily collecting in a reservoir unless the airflow through that reservoir encourages buildup.
It would be immensely cool if it did work though

This is something I was just talking about with my girlfriend, I think with enough R&D you could make a vaporizer specific design. Might be something for me to work on when I get set up flameworking.

I think for small cartridge style vapes wouldn't be to hard to do. But it would take some R/D, new moldings/scientific glass, and plenty of moola.
I think the solo would be a tough but fun one to conceptualize. It would need to be 2 pieced, held together by an oring.
One of the pieces would need the collecting tray, I envision it similar to a castle's moat. Part of the glass could be shaped a certain way to help it drip into the tray. It's pretty out there, I know. I'm starting to get some type of concept for the solo as I type this. I'll slowly put some thought into it and if I have a solid design, ill see if some blower/PV wants to attempt it.
It will will definitely take some interest around here for any manufacturer to pick it up.
FM, I really believe gravity pulls the build up down on a solo stem, but mainly during use(while warm). I only use mine upside down weather its for water, or just using the bent stem. My bent stem has more build up towards the mouthpiece than the bowl due to gravity. I have tested using it right side up and it flows back down, very slowly.
It's not going to be very simple, so I don't have my hopes up, but I feel its worth a shot.

Nice, wish there were still pics. It doesn't seem like he has full access to scoop everything, but most, and then reclaim the rest...I think. Exact same concept executed differently.

So, the whole concept is to add a dry tool or extra dry chamber?????? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Can you be more specific about your design, I can't really get it in a Solo stem... I own a Solo...
So it's going to be, my guess, where the most oil buildup happens, right after the loading chamber????

And what is the mystery of the design???
Can you post some drawing???
If you are giving it first to PV, or any blower, why not to fellow FC members as well at the same time... If it's that good your design, would you trust PV or the blower to not take your design and leave you bare hands ????? Sometimes is better to let know everybody that you had that idea beforehand ;)
Be careful with those Patent Pending sleezy/sneeky ones :) lol
It already happened with the PVHES , do you think PV thought about them by itself ?????, I'm pretty sure they checked this thread/forum pretty close those guys, and they are really on top of each FREE mod we fellow innocent FCers made and then capitalize on us. That's why I'm starting to use local blowers as well for those little cheapo mods on stems and GonGs, or DIY easier :) (not for water pipes, too much $$$)
BTW, Patents Pendings sucks, at some point we'll see in a not so distant future when pot is legalized, Monsanto taking advantage and Patent THC and all strains and seeds, and start creating all transgenic mutagenic cancerigenic new plants :) such BS Patent Pendings, then we'll not have access to natural plants and we'll be paying taxes to Monsanto Patents.
I really liked Hippie Dickies approach to it, open concept of his Toaster and if another person is better making his own model than himself, so be it :)
Maybe someone has a nice input to it, and make it a better model for everybody to enjoy :)
IMO if you are planning on selling them, It's going to be interesting, I don't know if people are going to want an extra piece of glass that "maybe" will work and it actually would give so so results in a month maybe, and maybe a little little drop of build up at a time.
IMO QWISO will be much more efficient and cleaner... At some point you'll need to clean your glass, after certain time, being THC resins and oils, natural form substances( aka nature) , IMO they start to turn into an aftertaste during your vaping session, could be good or bad depending on the user...
Good luck with your experiment, BTW the link you posted, all photos are forbidden :( videos work either way. Thanks for the mods, and keep the testing my friend.

p.s: I do not want to discourage or pee on your project, Is just a little bit unclear how it will work for my Solo...
And I really like your experimenting... Keep doing it... If you need any input, just ask FCers :)

I have great luck collecting honey from my Iolite after I modified it to accept a glass mouthpiece. I tapped the threads in the Iolite bowl (on left) to accept a 1/4" threaded stainless steel tube. The stainless steel tube allows much better air flow than the stock Iolite stem and it connects to the glass tube with a piece of high temp medical grade silicone.
I draw hot air through the glass tube to warm it up then use a bamboo skewer tool to extract the soft honey.

I use a vapor bros.

I've found that the stock placement of the screen in the VB whip is too close to the heater for me, so I learned to bend stainless steel screens in an umbrella shape so that they can slide down past the screen placement point. This allows a higher setting to be used; the longer distance allows the hotter air stream to expand and cool, covering a larger surface area with the appropriate temperature air.

I use three screens, with the following configuration:

_____=________________________
...........)888).....)
_____ ________________________
........= 1 ....2... 3

( the = signs are the standard screen placement point, 888 is herb and ) is a screen. treat ...... as spaces, they are there to keep the formatting from collapsing the white space )

Screen 1 keeps herb from falling out when moving the whip or hitting it vertically, screen 2 keeps the herb from falling down the whip, and screen 3 keeps the majority of crumbs from falling down into the rest of the whip (even when herb is stirred and dusts up).

Dust accumulates between screens 2 and 3 and is cleaned periodically.

Wand hash accumulates beyond screen 3.

When hitting the VB vertically, the wand hash is heated, melts, and drips down to accumulate on screen 3. This results in a 'baseline' hash hit from the screen alone- a bowl is done not when there is no vapor but when only the hash is hitting. (reflux extraction)

Periodically, all screens are removed and cleaned. Cleaning screen 3 consists of moving it to the very front of the whip and hitting at high heat. It sure gets the resin off ;)
