The reason I asked about the batteries is because it is always something that eventually has to be replaced. I like to plan out my purchases before I make them, I keep feeling unsatisfied when it comes to the battery question, and that is why I do not make the final decision to purchase.

I have no problem with a company that uses returns and battery service as their main method of operation, as long as they also allow the option for you to order the battery from them [and providing information on the battery so that in the case the manufacturer goes out of business, the customer can look up and order their own batteries].

Some people may be the type that would break them if they tried to replace them, but I am forever a tinkerer. Been opening things and fixing them since I was a kid. I don't throw things away if they are still usable and fixable.

I LOVE the stealth in these new portables and so am looking forward to finding one that suits me.

We are in the same boat; what is going to come down to for me is the batteries. I am looking to get a smaller, stealthier portable than my solo and I've narrowed it down to the Inhalater and this guy. I know the IH will have user replaceable batteries, so even though I really like the look and pocketablity of this one I'm just waiting for an answer on the batteries and those alone.

As my iolite is noisy and has only one heat setting, my MFLB is a great stand-by but too fiddly, and my solid Arizer Solo is only semi-portable, I've shortlisted Pax, Vaporfection miVape, Puffit and Da Vinci.

Well the mivape has probobly not even made it to production yet - I consider it vaporware(heh) till we get more info, and I'd require more than the puffit can put out but other than that those are three solid models and I'm sure they would not disappoint. Have you excluded the inhalator for any particular reason though? It looks to me at least to be the most attractive option.

Don't you forget the Thermovape here? :)

Thermovape reviews @ australianvaporizers.com.au, are less than enthusiastic. And there are too many bits and pieces to take apart and reassemble. So thanks, but I'll stick with the 4 on my shortlist,(especially the Ploom Pax, that's small, sleek and stylish, and seems to have much else to recommend it.)

Yes, I just viewed the Inhalator. Looks interesting. As I'm driving down to Sydney tomorrow, I'll investigate when I'm back home.

No... to much of a battery hog in my opinion. Though I love the ability to sterilize the unit.

Love my T1.. Just something cool about it to me(Probably just me)... I like how its all modular and interchangeable with other TV products.. Just feels like a modern piece of art in my hands to me... Battery's have not been an issue with me so far and I also got the Pipes AC power hook up...

I had to read this twice because it confused the hell out of me until I realized it has nothing to do with the Pax. I thought I was in the wrong thread.

Perfectly aware of the previous conversation, and also the concept of hijacking a thread. Look up "sarcasm".

so just got off the chat on plooms website, the rep told me that the pax was made in south china near hong kong, the factory is not owned by ploom and the modelOne and pax are not made at the same factory. when i pre ordered from vapeworld they told me returns would be handled through ploom, when i asked the ploom rep today they said any returns would be through the distributor, they would only handle warrenty repairs

can anyone from vapeworld shine some light on the return policy

To those who have a Pax, how do you think it would work with VERY small amounts. It's been said the bowl will hold .26g, and also works well with half that amount. How do you suppose it would work with just a tiny pinch, like a log vape stem's worth...like .04g (or even less)?

I'm a very light user and wouldn't be interested in the "multisession" bowl concept of sipping on a full bowl over the course of the whole day. I find that when vaping that way, the cannaboid profile is different for each "session". First session-too light, 2nd session just right...third-too heavy.

Would the Pax work as a one-hit vape?

thx

SliM (SM is stonemonkey lol), I finally got the time to catch up on this thread and wanted to give you huge props for all the time, effort, information, and videos you have provided for us! You have no idea how much it helps this community!

Even though I think this vape isn't for me (way too much conduction for my liking, smell, etc) I am still excited to see a decent new portable on the market and had to give you the respect you deserve. Word!

What exactly is wrong with conduction as long as the abv is uniform and there is no combustion? What would've been different if it was convention based?

The herbs heats up constantly and unlike the solo when you can just pull of the stem and the herb would not heat up...correct me if I'm wrong V4L?

Flowers wouldn't get spent just sitting there, better taste, more even/better abv, no/less stirring, no/less smell. Lotsa reasons PortVape! It just isn't for me that's all, not slamming all conduction vapes or anything, but I get enough of conduction outta my solo as it is, luckily it's against glass and not herbs sitting in an oven. I'm anal with cleaning too and like to keep things like new every couple days or so and this just seems (to me) to be a bit of a pain to clean compared to the solo.

Thanks vape4life I am glad it is helpful for the community. I still need to do my final official review and a cleaning video. I just had to get my camera cleaned and got busy and such.

I know what you mean about the conduction thing. I have a very deep bias against conduction. I am used to the BC vaporizer and all those old school conduction vaporizers. My first thought when I got it and realized it was almost all conduction was... Oh no, I do not think I will like this. (I was wrong)

For a conduction vaporizer it does a really great job. The oven is designed in such a way that the surface area of the flowers is distributed as much as possible over the oven walls. The sleep mode activated quickly when you put the unit down. That does aid in reducing the amount of wasted vapor. If you give the unit a stir every few hits the ABV comes out more even then any other conduction vaporizer I have seen. Personally, I don't stir it because I am lazy and just want to medicate and move on. I am also usually in the car and stirring while moving in a car is not a good idea.... one pot hole and my flowers go flying all over.

In terms of cleaning. It is easier to clean the PAX than the DaVinci. Slightly more difficult than the Solo. The hardest part is getting the screen out. You just have to push a pipe cleaner through the other end of the vapor tube and push the screen out from that side. Then you just rub everything down with ISO.

Personally, I find myself carrying the PAX and the DaVinci with me wherever I go. I use the PAX to medicate to a comfortable level. Then I use the DaVinci to supplement that and continue/prolong my current level of medicated.
