jeffp,
Hey this is to a forum mod. You should remove purple days from your full sponsor list.

mod note: You shouldn't address staff in a forum post. We have the report function as well as email.

wow....my PD just failed, and I was within the three year window. this is pretty disappointing.

does anyone out there do amateur pd repairs? i have no idea what's wrong, just suddenly stopped heating up...

First thing to look at is the power cord. I believe Rick over at Zap may have a fix for you if that is what it is.

Try plugging your PD into a car with the car adapter to troubleshoot. If your PD warms in the car then you've isolated the issue to the power adapter (perhaps a broken or frayed chord--most likely near unit itself) and/or outlet (this is unlikely obviously). I would postpone any conclusions that the PD is malfunctioning until you've tried another power-source. :2c:

i hope i can find the car unit. i left the wall unit plugged in and it's still warm, so i don't think it's the box itself. could be the cord i guess...

assuming it is the unit, and suggestions for a replacement log vape? Tom got me all paranoid about using any with low-grade parts...

Plotinus,

here for the chicks
You can also shoot Underdog Dave an email if it is broken and you want it fixed. He is about to leave for a 3 week trip though, so it may take him a while before he can actually help you.

Sucks now that Tom is gone. I would just sell it if I were you. I honestly felt like the PD has given me heart problems as well due to the charred wood. Because leaving it on 24/7 will eventually melt the wood on the inside and who knows all those times I probably inhaled all the charred wood from the heat! (Everytime I take a deep breath I feel a stinging pain in my right lung, and I never had this problem until I started noticing the wood charring...) SO it makes me wonder!!! And we're left with absolutely NO FUCKING ANSWERS. Now that Tom is gone we have no idea what to do when issues or questions come up anymore, which is bullshit if you ask me!!

baurman, if you believe you have heart problems please go see a doctor. However, suggesting that a log vape "has given" you heart problems is a pretty strong statement. Please remember that log vapes have been around quite a while - and, until recently, the designs seemed more similar than not. No, I am not a physician - just mentioning your linking of charred wood and heart problems could go well beyond just PDs, and it hasn't seemed to be an issue for other PD users (or other owners of the "old school" style log vapes) who have posted here. :2c:

I do understand venting that PD has closed up shop. However, given the customer service I always received from Tom and Pammy, I have got to believe there was a pretty significant reason - one that we may never know.

^I agree. Don't know what to make of all the paranoia about charred wood... it's only wood after all, not some nasty poisonous chemical. Humans have been living around open fires for thousands and thousands of years. Smoking a joint or bong would be many times more toxic than any supposed charring in a vaporizer.

Wood Smoke that is a new one. Life is luck you either have it or you don't. Almost everyone that I started enjoying MJ with in 1960 are gone, their luck ran out. I can't explain why I'm here still lucky after all these years but I'm still kickin
My PD has been running 24/7 for over 1000 days. AC cord adapter goes up what I did was cut 12 inches off my car cord and 12 inches off the AC cord and spliced the heavy duty one to the AC. Loose heat element add 1 inch spring clips tightens it up, add as needed.
Purple Days did not close up because Tom got mad, something happened! Someone's luck ran out is the only way you give up something you love.

My experience with my pd has been alright.
As far as a loose heat core, most experience this from either prolonged heat expansion pushing up on the snap rings or from a fall. Mine fell off a very short nightstand to super thick carpet Nd it began soon after that, but it could be coincidence as I had nevever unplugged it prior to noticing the looseness which persisted after plugging back in.

I EASILY fixed mine by using snap ring pliers in the existing snap rings to re-tighten them down. Not a movement since.
I dunno why I never saw this mentioned.
Easy as snap ring pliers....2 seconds.....TIGHT, good as new. Not that it didn't work as new loose.

Both public posts, too many to enumerate,
and behind the scenes events, on this forum,
have recently caused us to re-consider our participation on Fuck Combustion.

Sadly, we have decided to leave FC and never return.

At the same time we have had a chance to re-evaluate our
position as a vaporizer manufacturer.
Many factors went into the decision.
It is in the best interest, of our family, to pursue other avenues.

All orders, repairs and holiday contest prizes
have been shipped as promised.
All accounts are paid in full and closed.

Purple-Days Diffusers LLC is out of business.

At our personal expense Purple-Days.com will remain up,
to provide basic FAQ and troubleshooting, and a link to the
replacement transformer through 2012.

All e-mail will get an automated answer,
we will not be looking at them. We are out of business.
All US Mail and Parcels will be returned to sender by the USPS.
We are out of business.

We will not reconsider. We will never look back.

It is the right choice for us.

Cheers,
Tom and Pammy

I am sorry to arrive too late at this failfest.

As a PD owner this is shocking news for me. I was cleaning my bong and decided to look for shit on PD website. I was greeted with Out OF Business message. I rushed to FC and found this post.

What can I say? I feel that we as a community failed to provide the help Tom needed. Being the complete idiotic jackass that he was/is, it is obvious that vapeing weed could not achieve any positive results. What Tom really needed is to start taking some E and then after he gets into it add on top some LSD and later DMT.
Just to think about it that this jackass could have built a VERY successful business if he only tried to overcome himself and let other people in. But instead the only thing he did was spitting on his customers.
And how it all ended, in a flash of buthurtness. Tom was not able to face the internet, wasnt able to take the heat of the boards. Wining like a sissy that he got buthurt because of behind the scenes events and to punish us all he decided to close the business.

I urge anyone who wants to start a business. A lot of you like me got the kit so you know how to build it.
Contact some manufactures and check out if they can build it for you, you will have no trouble selling it.

BTW, who knows what were those behind/in front the scenes events that took place?

If you read his last post you should also have seen that the thread isn't for Tom/company bashing. If you don't have a question or contribution concerning the vape, don't post.

You should lay off the bong for a while man. What you write is complete nonsense.
You say read his last post you should also have seen that the thread
How can I draw any conclusions about the thread by reading a single post? You see the logical contradiction here? Or maybe you have another special thread for Tom bashing?

People were promised a 3-year warranty and have been left like dust in the wind, if I was a Purple Days customer I'd be justifiably upset as well. All of his customers have been left stranded, he even let everyone know to not even try to email, it'd just be ignored. Now the community has to move on and help each other out, but that doesn't mean PD should get a pass for their actions. He promised customers something he was unwilling to deliver on. To censor discussion of that breach of trust is unsettling.

To censor discussion of that breach of trust is unsettling.
So we should just let the thread go on and on with people popping in to bitch and complain, over and over, saying the same things, page after page. To what end? It's pretty much all been said. If you didn't get your chance to bitch, you'll have to settle for the bitching post you just made.

To find censorship of a discussion that's already been allowed, unsettling, is unsettling to me. It would only be censorship if we hadn't allowed it in the first place. Enough is enough. It's like allowing off topic discussion in a vape thread. We allow it to an extent. It promotes friendly, fun posting and sometimes allows a misunderstanding to be resolved. But if it goes on too long, we put a stop to it, and get the thread back on topic. It's not your call, as to when that should happen. It's ours. The forum isn't a democracy. You don't get a vote, and according to the rules, public discussion of staff decisions isn't allowed.

if I was a Purple Days customer

I've noticed a lot of those who would stay away from this thread otherwise more than willing to chime in now.

Well, my PD is going strong. Here's an old pic (maybe a year or more) I posted in here, going to revisit now.

I've always wanted a Purple-Days vape, just never had the extra cash to spend (although the wait time was what made me decide on another). I've got nothing against PD other than what I mentioned before, and I'm happy to hear that most people are satisfied with the vape itself.

max, I may have stepped out of line, and I apologize for that. I just really feel bad for the PD customers with problems who have nowhere really to turn to.
