so,I just checked the vaporgenie site, and they just have one gauge available now. But for a while there they offered a thin one and a thick one. As soon as the thick one came out, they reduced the price to $20 for the thin one. I'm guessing they were just clearing out their inventory of thin ones, and now offer just the thicker gauge.

I have the thin gauge and imo it marries with a 14mm better then 18mm - but is absolutely fine in a 18mm.

Hello! This is i think my 2nd ever post after taking a few days to read 86pages :whoa:....I'm a VG owner (aluminum pipe style) BUT, I have a question still. I haven't tried to smoke wax/hash out of this thing, and was wondering if anyone has experience with this without ruining anything. Logic tells me that since the heating element is above the bowl, there's no worry about some resinous goo dripping down and ruining it, and I do have the aluminium pipe version which is easily cleanable..... I was thinking of maybe using 2 screens, and putting a small nest of bud underneath to soak up some of the hash.......Sorry for the rambling, but I'm new to the forum and if anyone here could help me, it would greatly appreciated......CHEERS!

No extra screen is necessary - just use a bed of bud or even ABV. The melty melts into the bed and goes for evvvvvvvver. :D

I used to own a VG Classic back in the day, and I loved the hell out of that piece (converted me to vaporization). Sadly that piece was lent to a friend and got dirty beyond repair / use. I am once again looking at some form of VG as I need a consistent vaporizer for a week of camping with no electricity. For those of you more up to date on VG production, I have a few questions. First off, for stealth reasons I have decided a bat will likely be my best option.
  • Glass or Stainless Steel Bat?
  • Is one easier or harder to use?
  • What is the taste difference?
  • Does one get significantly hotter to touch than the other?

You're considering a glass vape for a week long camping trip? You're braver than I am. Even if Murphy doesn't come camping with you, if you go with glass I'd take some papers too....

I'd go with the SS hands down. Aluminum is cheaper, but gets hot fast. You might also consider the coil, cheap, works well and light. You'll need a bit of tube or something to make a complete pipe from, although it's possible to hit it directly.

Haha thanks OF! My friend Murphy is always pretty close-by, so I was also going to have my Thermovape with Omicron carts along for the ride as well (thanks to your helpful answers in another thread).

Is the SS easy to clean? I see the site says the filter isn't removable, does this mean I won't be able to soak the entire device in ISO for cleaning? I see some people complain of heat issues holding the glass bat, should I be worried about this with the SS bat as well?

Putting the ceramic filter on a 18mm to 14mm adapter makes for a nice surface to vape the oil with a jet torch. I think I may prefer this method to my titanium nails.

My LW bub works great with it. Any piece with a long enough downstem should work. This is an 18mm joint, but I've used it with success with 14mm joints as well.

LW? Sorry but I'm new and I couldent find what LW stood for in the glossary. Also , do you recomend using it with water or just by itself?

It's not airtight, but it doesn't need to be, really. It's tight "enough" so that you don't notice any problems.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. It's a Luke Wilson bubbler. He makes really nice stuff here in California.

I recommend water, but it would improve on the VG coil experience even if you hit it dry, as you can see the vapor coming and you don't have to guess when it'll hit.

i orderd a vapor genie a week ago it still has yet to come in the mail the shipping date estimation was tomorrow but i dont think it will be here by then, my qustion is it a long learning curver or is it just like one to two bowls?

Since I am a bit on a budget , do you guys think I should comprise to an acrylic bong or bubbler for my VG Coil or should I just use it as is for now and wait for glass?

Your typical acrylic bong will have a fixed bowl, so it'd be too small to use with the Coil.

Unless something has changed and they're making GonG w/ acrylic, but I've yet to see that.

There are some inexpensive glass pieces on the broke bastards thread in the glass section. Take a look around there and I'm sure you'll find something suitable.

Stu! I put the coil away after a few unsuccessful attempts. But your pic of the coil with the LW has me inspired. I think I will try that with my matrix perc...I'll bet it is the perfect setup to learn how to use it with the visual feedback you mentioned.

Good luck, Sticks :tup: I think I'll de-virginize my ion tonight with the coil too. Sounds like a good plan.

Just hold the flame close enough to get sucked down the coil, but not too close where it blows the flame out. The learning curve is pretty quick keeping those 2 things in mind.

Also make sure you don't "flick" your bic close to the VG so as not to get any flint or shit into the coil.
