Arizer Solo

I recently got a bug to try running my solo thru some of my glass collection, because I want something portable I can still use with a small bubbler.for my upcoming vacation! I devised a simple set-up that I thought some of you might enjoy. I used a piece of silicone whip, and the Thermovape Glass Adapter. I warmed the tubing to allow it to more easily slip over the mouth piece of a Solo stem and then plugged the other end of the tube with the glass adapter. Then stuck the adapter end into the female joints of some of my best pipes! It worked great, although I still need some improvement on how the glass adapter can fit into the tubing a little tighter. (Think Silicone tape would work good for this too to slightly increase the diameter of the GA and provide a tighter fit into the tube) I tried an O ring, but it was not permanent so for now I am just pinching the hose onto the GA and it is great thru all of my glass pieces! Here are some pics of the set up. I will add to this later with more findings and a vid of some clouds!! :peace:

I can report that the PVHES shorty improves the draw on the Solo noticeably. I like the idea of the shorty as it gives me 4 nice draws and with a quick reload - I'm vaping the fresh stuff. Great idea and fast shipping to the US by Planet Vape. I ordered the Turbo as well and will report back as I have a feeling that's gonna be my "go to" stem as they were considerate enough to include a screen holder in the design and the single bore makes complete sense to ease the draw even more. I also ordered one of Ed's wood stems and I'm anxiously awaiting to give that a tryout as well.

Best!

Just had the first couple sessions with my new Solo. GREAT vape. Really impressed. Feels solid, hits very well, and seems extremely easy to clean and maintain. Finally I can sit outside on my balcony and enjoy some nice vapor hits.

It's funny, I saw the vapor coming through the tube, but it didn't register with me in the same way as it does with my PD because the vapor is so much cooler. Usually I can feel how much vapor I'm getting because of the heat, but with the Solo I don't realize how much I'm taking in. I think I forgot that vapor could be cool - I've been using my PD for a while, and it runs pretty hot.

No restrictive air flow issues at all. Maybe it's because I'm used to my PD, but the air flows on the Solo much more freely than it does, for me, on the PD. All I did was put a screen into the stem, domed outwards from the 4 holes.

It was also great to see the herb browned evenly with no charring. Even when I turned it to 7 to test it, the herb came out a nice and even dark brown.

So far, no complaints at all except for the awkward design of the power cord having to be plugged in on the bottom. I'd love to have a dock for this.

I remember someone asked me about burnt popcorn taste with wood stem and I said I never tasted that...
Well I finally did but it took a while! the solo was running straight for almost 2 sessions with very good stuff...its amazing I put .12 of this stuff that looks less than other strains that I put .10 and it simply works amazingly for almost 2 sessions...plus I left the stem inside the heater for quite long (from mid-end of first session I hardly remove it but I put it out every end of a hit)

Anyway wood stem FTW, I doubt that I can keep the PHVES as long as the wood...its just going to be much hotter to handle.

I've been putting the regular gong stem+tintest's disk, one of the wood stems, and the PVHES (straight shorty) stem on my DG mini-can, and so far I am getting the most effortless milking from the PVHES stem. This thing is pulling huge hits at lower settings (3-4) and I am getting about 7-8 full hits before it starts to slow down. I am very impressed, and hope the new PVHES gong stem is similar in size to the regular one. I really like the lower profile of the gong stem for hooking my Solo up to my water pieces. Feels much more stable, and gets the solo further away from my face.

Now this is not to say the wood stem isn't a heavy contender, but I am finding I prefer to use it directly instead of on my glass. That way I can appreciate the full flavor. I also like to use the wood stem at 3-4 temp.

Yes me too, I started with only via glass but now near the end I go directly...

I was referring to the glass heat up time(the whole stem gets really hot if left inside for too long)...is it easy to do double screening in the PHVES as it is with the wood stem?

PHVES was shipped 2 weeks ago I'm still waiting... ;(

That seems like a long time to wait for the PVHES stem, are you in the US? I would contact PV if you don't see it soon. I have been double screening my shorty PVHES stem, the screen on the end will fall off sometimes when removing the stem, but it seems to be working other wise.

Does anyone know if the car adapter plug for the solo is just for charging, or for running it directly?

I just got it , I was actually was writing a review for it vs the wood in many points but I realized that my wood stem screen is in need for cleaning and therefore the airflow sucked /: so some point are not valid anymore...with the tight mesh you need to clean it once in a while because it affects the airflow much ... when the wood stem screen is clean vs phves clean screen its pretty much the same airflow with maybe a slight favor for the wood.
The taste of the wood is so far the best vapor I ever tasted and I said it before...
I will need to re test head to head both again...
I will tell more later but to answer you question - the solo car charger is only for charging...the solo is charging 12v but operates at 9v

Ok so had a couple friends over the other day and brought out the solo, packed a freshly ground bowl almost full just below the notches, have a nice pile of kief and then mashed the stem down on the pile so figure I had a solid 1/8" of kief on top of the herb, I bet between the three of us we passed it around 7-8 times. We were all pulling solid hits, nice clouds, coughing of course, had the heat setting on 6. We are all smokers so I wanted them to get the full advantage of the vapor. We all got ruin't and had a great time with it. I swear that is my best experience with the solo. 21-24 hearty hits with my wooden stem. The ABV all looked really well vaped and browned. My friends wife was so high she made it a mile or two down the road and was out cold!

Really enjoying my tie with the SOLO!

Excellent story Ed ... I'm really excited to get my stems in the mail! (Hopefully before the end of the week as I'll be gone on vacation for 10 days leaving next Sat.)

I hope you do bro!

Thanks Ed. (Technology failed us slightly as I would have paid the extra to have you express ship them, however, our e-mails didn't get along for a few days!)

Either way, I need to learn more patience anyways so this is probably good for me! :)

I'm absolutely loving my experience with the Solo and have started to use it over the PD as my primary vape. It's ready to go in a couple minutes, no maintenance issues at all, and the hits are amazing. It never fails to get the herb evenly browned. And I can walk around while hitting it (a huge advantage for someone like me who has trouble sitting still).

I've also used it in a small group (3 people) and it performed like a champ.

Thinking about ordering one of those PVHES stems to make the solo even better, but I'm not even sure if I need one because I'm so happy with the way it hits already.

I have had a half dozen friends that I recommended a Solo to call me today.
They are a bit upset.
It seems that they bought new Solo units model MD2 and NO stems fit in them. has anyone else had this issue?

THe new stems don't seem to fit at first, I almost got a bit upset as well. The stems need to be worked in a bit and this will pass till they have the freedom to spin but are way less likely to fall out of the unit.
I went from almost pissed to loving the fit.

@Gandalf
Again I find myself seconding Stu on these boards, the PVHES Turbo and Shorty, as well as Ed's delicious wood stems, make a serious difference, very worth the price. I've forgotten my original stems and have said earlier on this thread, PV's PVHES Turbo stem should have been the stem included with the Solo, it is a much better glass stem for the unit, and gives it brand new life.
And again if not for Vito's vids and recommends, I'd have never have known. Thanks again bro!

Alright guys, you've convinced me. I'm going to order the PVHES stems as soon as they're back in stock.

I actually just introduced the Solo and the PD to a guy in his 60s who has never used a vaporizer before. He had a difficult time getting the draw right for the PD, but was blowing clouds with the Solo with no learning curve at all. He loved it.

@Vito I have an MD2 and I definitely needed to force it in, but it was only the first time, and now they fit perfectly.

I currently have the PVHES straight shorty and bent Turbo and they most definitely make this great vaporizer even better!

I see what you mean now. I do find the draw more restrictive, however.
I will play for a while and see what happens!
