What does it cost to run a PD 24/7 ???

PD wattage calculator. :science:
http://www.csgnetwork.com/ohmslaw2.html
Use the first calculator panel on this page to give you wattage.
Plug in 12 Volts and 20 Ohms resistance and get 7.2 Watts.
The PD draws 7.2 Watts

Electricity prices by state.
http://www.electricchoice.com/electricity-prices-by-state.php
Use this website to find your State's average electricity rate.
US national average is $0.1153 your rates may be higher or lower.

Plug in the PD Wattage and your electric rate here.
http://www.electricity-usage.com/Electricity-Usage-Calculator.aspx
7.2 Watts at $0.1153 (US National average) for 24 hours a day =
Per Hour = $0.00083
Per Day = $0.019924 Under two pennies a day! :2c:
Per Week = $0.139
Per Month = $0.56
Per Year = $7.25 :buzz:

Hope that helps.

ps. Happy Halloween !

The pd is so good. I know it's been said before but WOW

Sorry I didn't get a chance last night for the final pic :/ . It was tons of fun Tom, thanks for another great contest. Good luck everyone!

Wow, 7.25 a year on average. That's impressive. Who can complain about warm up time if you can have it ready 24/7 after the first time for under 8 bucks a year? Crazy people haha  .

I leave mine on 24/7. No problems thus far. I don't know what I'd do without the ol' PD. Great contest. Good job everyone! Wish I would have been more motivated. Lazy stoner. Ha.

Over a year now and still enjoying the PD. A few months ago I decided to invest in a pipe, so here is my setup now

piece.jpg

The piece itself is 28" 7mm with 2 4-arm reinforced tree percs and ice catcher. It's practically air by the time it gets to your lungs...

I hope to find a tube I can insert from the PD to the downstem, since I get lazy holding the damn thing up all the time. I see some of you have tubes, where could I find one?

That's a cool, piece, rsjrv99, but I think it's a little on the big side for a PD. IMO the PD works best with something under 12".

lol A LITTLE on the big side. that thing is a monster to me. i think i cringed when i saw the picture :ko:

having a huge piece like that or adding whip tubing takes away from the taste fyi. the shorter path makes for better flavor

To each his own IMO, if that piece gets the job done then that's what matters. There's no objective size range that is best; if taking a hit becomes more laborious than enjoyable, that's the reference point to take note of IMO.

rsjrv99: take a trip over to the dedicated glass forum on this site to get some ideas (watch out!)...there's even a dedicated thread on glass that pairs well with log-style vapes.

Not sure if this is the right place to mention this but........

I was told by someone during a conversation that vaping through water will strip it of its potency. Anyone else heard this? The logic is that vapor is water and will condense in the water. Just curious.

Madcap79,
Madcap, there's been alot of discussion scattered around about this topic. I think some people have said that the vapor form of the chemicals we're after are alot less likely to be absorbed into the water than tar-laden smoke. Some potency is lost, but it's supposed to be very small, less so than smoking out of water in terms of proportions - or so some people have said.

I vape out of single perced glass typically, and most of my vaping period is done out of water, especially if I'm at home. I really love vaping out of high end glass and do like multiple percs. You do notice a slight lessening in flavor with each level of percolation but the added smoothness and the pure fun of using glass counters it. I find that the PD can fill most any tube to satisfaction (especially at 13V), but the tight draw means you absolutely have to pull the stem to clear any larger piece.

As it relates to water vaping, I'm currently drooling over videos of the VXC tubes being roped, all of which have two levels of diffusion - something I'm really delighted about. You can always fill up just one or enjoy both. It's really amazing that VXC can offer such high end, American glass along with what in some ways will be the current mother of all water vapes; even at the nondiscounted price it's a steal if you really look at it.

Correct me if I am wrong but all the hydratubes have one level of diffusion, I think you are mistaking the splash guard as another diffuser.

Anyways I thought this picture looked cool. On the road. :)

Sorry for continuing to go off topic. I think mentions of the Cloud will sooner be butting into every vape-specific thread imaginable.. Haha. Anyway I guess you're right. I guess the splashguard is basically another showerdome that you don't fill with water. Some videos of the tubes like this
http://www.youtube.com/user/stonemonkey55#p/u/7/5PmDT9hgCiY make it seem like there's enough space that you could maybe still use it as a second diffuser and not cover your lips with water as long as you cleared it gently. Maybe?

Thanks everyone for the info on filtration. Now I might be leaning towards getting a water pipe. Sheldon Black looks sharp, eh?
