I only burned myself once, the glass cools down pretty fast and the gn0me is easy to handle without getting your fingers in the heating area.
That said, It is always better to organize a spot to let it cool before starting to heat it up.

I've had my gn0me for a few months now and feel that I've used it enough to post my impressions. I have the slider (formerly known as the classic) and have been using it for direct draw only. The learning curve seemed a little steeper than my glass vg, even with the torch flame changing color when you're near the right temperature. Although the gn0me is clear, I have a hard time seeing the vapor forming. Could be the result of bad lighting or something, but I've had to go more by feel and timing. That's not a bad thing, but it does take practice to get it right. I've been using the ronson jetlite and usually heat half the rippled section closest to the herb chamber until the flame glows orange, usually 15 seconds or so, then start a slow inhale while keeping the flame on. After that, draw speed and flame application vary based on how hot it seems to be getting. I've never combusted but did scorch a load once or twice, which I think resulted from heating the closest part of the rippled section too much.
Before I got it I wondered if holding the two pieces together might be a little awkward, but it's actually pretty easy. Just pinch with two fingers at the junction and maybe angle it slightly upward. After a hit I let it cool for 10-20 seconds before resting it on the fabric carrying case. Others have reported burning the case a little by doing this, but with a short cooldown period I haven't had a problem. The taste is just as good as everyone says, and you can get nice clouds as well.
While it wouldn't be ideal to have as my only vape, I could definitely get by with just the gn0me if I had to. As it is, I go to the gn0me if I want that great flavor (always have try out a new strain with it), portability (since I don't care about stealth, this is the only portable I need), or if I want to enjoy a slower, more relaxed session. And sometimes you just miss playing with fire. Given that it's also one of the cheaper vapes out there, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Another forum member told me about the free video editing software "Magisto" a couple of hours ago, so I just started fucking with it and made this gn0me video in about 5 minutes to try out the software. It came out better than I had expected.

As a Vapocane user, I have been following this thread with great interest. The Gn0me seems like a much better implemented product, and hopefully one that will last somewhat longer (have bad experience with the Vapocane... sometimes it seems I only need to look at it for it to break). The flavor, however, is unbeatable (using the heat retention method just like with the gnome).
I have sent Calen a mail to both adresses almost two weeks ago, and am still expecting a response. Do you suggest I wait or try to contact him again?

dimStar, i am having the same problem. My gn0me heating area cracked and i want to get a replacement and still haven't got any answer with either emails..

I just pinch off 1 or two pieces from a bud (total volume ~ 1/2 a pea) and load it and forget it. When it's done I take a toothpick to pluck the abv nuggets out and blow through it. A couple questions if you dont mind, all input is welcome btw:
How much herb do you normally use for one bowl? And do you ever stir it at all? Or just load it, vape it till its done and dump it.?
Pro tip: For the best flavor you con possibly imagine, try using some fresh, undried herb. You'll get a blast of flavor that will knock your socks off!
