One thing to consider is this: I PAID into the SSI system. That is called a "social contract" and it is one I was forced to enter into with the government. Now that I am disabled, and collecting, I feel I am getting what was agreed to, and thank goodness. If you would have asked me to prepare for an illness I never would have dreamed I would get I wouldn't have done it. In fact I passed on disability insurance at work.

The question is who are the other 47%? I am sure it isnt the immigrants since they are ilegal, so there are 47% LEGAL US citizens who do not pay taxes...

EDIT: Too slow, Iwien answered for me. ;)

They shouldn't be granted citizenship in the first place. I'm more curious how they got to a university? They are taking away opportunities from American families IMHO. If you want to come to the us,,do it legally. Not be rewarded for sneaking in and causing my tax dollars to support their future endeavors.

I work for my family to give them better opportunities.. Instead we are railroaded by illegal aliens getting free handouts to free higher education that working Americans should qualify for. This also goes for trying to start your own business. Government programs give more opportunities to non citizens than citizens. There's something seriously wrong here.

Obama is just trying to make it worse. Republicans don't want the dream act... Liberals do... Texas and Arizona are model states, who don't fuck around with immigration issues.. ca should take note and perhaps, they will figure out their budget crisis starts with all the freebies they give out to these aliens in the first place.

I have no sympathy for people trying to screw over the system and opportunities meant for OUR children. It's not my problem they are born where they are. That's like me complaining I wasn't born a millionaire.

Shouldn't you avid pursuers of illegal alien persecution focus on the topic of abusing government handouts in general rather than limiting it to foreigners? There are a lot of home-grown lazy people who somehow work the system and sit around collecting welfare rather than work, and you folks are getting exited over a minority percentage of the "inadequately" distributed welfare compensation that is going to underprivileged, self-bettering people who, for the most part, are trying to find a place where they can work to earn a decent living for their families. Oh no! The US of A might actually get to see some CHARACTER for a change.

The "issue" of illegal immigration is simply another xenophobic act of nationalism crafted to brainwash people into accepting our grand leaders' (of which Obama is a puppet, not a master) agenda. It is not rational behavior to vehemently oppose helping people in need. Yes, even the ones on the other side of that line over there, brown ones, and ESPECIALLY dirty ones. Remember: people always come first, no matter what. Believing otherwise is what got us into this situation in the first place (well.. overpopulation, too). :peace:

P.S. The counterpart to a Republican is a Democrat. While Democrats are generally liberal, not all liberals are Democrats.

Everey republican I know of donates quite a bit to charity and donates quite a bit of time ( when some of these people make $100-$1000 an hour it is a big deal).

I have friends who are younger than 25 who pay $300k+ in income taxes every year ( this doesn't even count all the taxs on gasoline, alcohol, property, electricity, sales, ect). That buys a lot of lazy people healthcare.

If it weren't for the 1%'s who pay huge taxes this country would fall apart tomorrow.

LOL! That is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. The "1%" use every tax loophole they can to "avoid" taxes. Even by using foreign banks. Examples that come to mind are Romney and Apple, just to name two of the many that do it.

So if the gov can't even control tax dodging, they certainly can't control illegal aliens. They have known for years the problems and continue to do nothing about it. Arizona is simply enforcing immigration laws the gov has failed to enforce.

One thing you better believe is that the US government can control anything it wants to, short of the weather... (i swear i think i read that they're working on that, too, in Alaska or something...)

....,sadly the difference between repub and dem has disappeared...I agree with much you said...except that...plus...I always...always felt it was a cheap shot to kick people who are down....but than again...I'm the atheist...

what i said is the textbook difference. but yeah in practice they're identical nowadays. we're kicking ourselves more than them by throwing them in our nice, comfy, expensive amerikan jails.

When I was 14, and got my first job, I had to get a SSI card and a work permit. Had nothing before that, except a military ID. My daughter got her's (SSI card) at birth, like you said.

...oh I have my own sources....plus numbers are only one variable of the study....there are other components other than the final numbers which define the validity of those numbers...ever take statistics...I have...you can develop a "casual relationship vis-a-vis numbers"...between the flatulence in india and my uncle ralph's cancer....and personally even if the great "taxpayers assoc" said "turk is a briilliant"....I would have to question it....they have proven to be liars/charlatans...

turk, if you look, like I did, the numbers are the same with the IRS. As much as I don't like the IRS, I don't think they are fudging numbers, or in a conspiracy with the National Taxpayers Union to fudge numbers.

Come on Turk lets see your numbers dude . . . oh thats right they are a secret . . . if you are gonna call my source liars then usually the idea is to post your source, so I can see it, then we can decide together who is telling the truth. I am waiting for your numbers Turk and I understand statistics just fine btw. This one is a bit too easy to be fudged with those tactics . . .
