Well, the pad has to be able to withstand being pushed up and down, that's why I thought tabs, Of course nothing about my "drawing" is to scale, and spacing would have to be carefully considered. I'm still convinced tabs with low enough profile to just slip under the "slot" in the sleeve and still have enough room inside for the batteries to fit would be possible, I just don't have the patience to draw it all up to speck at the moment. Since we are talking hypothetical... if the "ring grip" idea can be made in a way that will take the pressure of all the movement and not just fall off, that is also another way to try to go, too. This is the way to make ideas reality...
Aye, got it. Sounds solid. Combine the hole(s) or slots with a good magnet and should not need clips at all. The magnet would not have to mould exactly to the curves with use of the guides. This would be preferred as to not transfer the heat so much to your thumb. Just a couple very small guide holes would do. Let's keep this going as I'm sure we have TV's ears on.

Thanks pipes I have been to busy with all my vapes, glass, and finals to religiously follow this thread like I should. Now I am all caught up :D.

What about a thick rubber band with some sort of adhesive? Might help with the traction

ah, you had me for a second, I thought at first glance that was TV posting a video of a grip already prototyped, see, I'm already getting visions hahaha or way too medicated. :freak:

magnets and other extras would be cool from a functional standpoint, but price point and easy, fast, low cost production keeps bringing me back to a simple design, and just using a small amount of derlin or something similar. I don't want to pay $80 or something crazy to pad my thumb ;)

I like the rubber idea, thought about some kind of thin wall, heat proof silicone tube that can just slide over the sleeve or something but it would have to be thin enough to let the sleeve move properly... the adhesive would make me nervous, possibly adding the smell of chemicals and adding heat to that might not work so well. But again, we are getting into more complicated and more work for the production guys. A single, molded piece would be easy to reproduce, and cutting the slits, well, that seems like it could be worked in easily too, a punch maybe, or some wierd drill press attachment? I just keep thinking about having to do all this over and over, and it makes me want to keep it as simple as possible, if we were to have the idea considered (or I could be way off base)

Agree with you 100%. They need to get away with just an add on without having to include a modified (updated) sleeve making something obsolete. I know I hate it when I have a V1 and a better V2 comes out in any product. But thus is life.
I think the absolute most anyone could expect from a user would perhaps be one single specified hole with a wide berth of placement orientation. Thus eliminating measurements for the most part. Then the optional thumb rest can make use of this hole. We should strive to keep this as a parameter for this endeavour. Once a usable base unit is established I think the actual thumb rest can be made out of all kinds of optional clip on pieces something like a belt buckle. This is all just my opinion and if anyone feels different please speak up.
Think many are going to prosper over this one.

they could do a sleeve trade in, where you have them send you one, with the holes, then a return envelope, and you can send your sleeve back, for them to clean, punch, and reuse... or something to that effect

Damn, looks like I'm a little late. I've been thinking about getting a portable concentrate vape for a little while now. If I had known about the 25% off I would have made an order over the weekend, however my late ass looks like it will be going without until I can find a good deal on a new unit.

How often will thermovape discount their products?

ive got some adhesive backed textured rubber, but its thick and could not go around the battery sleeve all the way. been thinking about sticking a thumb pad sized piece on there and give it a shot. also ive been looking some high temp heat shrink tubing of which is really thin, but im not sure how much it would help with the heat.

im sure TV has something cooking.

What about a silicon tube of proper size to completely replace the batter housing sleeve. If TV gets her and can produce some sort of textured rubber grip that would be great lol.

2clicker, I do not have a adhesive back textured rubber like you do but have you tried securing the rubber vertically by using thin metal whites wires similar to those that Pipes uses in his video.

It might be a great idea in theory but I have become accustomed to the current grip tho if one was offer I would buy it instantly. It was at first akward but then I found a way but still uncomfortable during longer seshing. I think this would benefit all the users of the TV by making it more accessible to medical patients and a wider demographic of consumers.

Which is better for on the go, window or dart? I mainly use high grade bho wax and shatter. When I medicate I ususally like to take 1 big dab or a couple small ones with my healthstone or ti nail. Usually I will use .1 to .15 in a session, roughly)

I also want to be able to use the omni carts as well being that they can hold up to a gram of oil, that would be nice. So if I order the kit that I mentioned, what else would I need to make the omni carts work. When I say omni carts I am talking about the empty carts that I can put my own concentrates in. Last question for now, and trust me I have been reading the shit out of these threads trying not to bug anyone, but I could use the help before I order. Which omni cart works best for the 3.7v?

I know I said last question, BUT what is the difference between the 510 cart and the omni cart? And where do you guys order your empty carts from?

6V heats up faster, but uses 2 stacked cells which some see as a negative. 3.7V will allow the batteries to last longer, but takes longer to heat up (5-10 secs more)... oh and your only using 1 battery. both the 6V and 3.7V work almost identically aside from the heat up time, and battery life. i chose to go 3.7V all around so i dont have to mess with having tons of different batteries and multiple chargers. that and the slightly longer battery life. if i were you i would choose either voltage and stick to it. its personal preference at this point, but both work very well.

most users find the Dart to be easier to load, use, and take care of in general. some talk about the window letting in too much air and getting gunked up with oil from repeated opening and closing.

as for the Omi carts... with 3.7V i would go with the 1.5ohm Omi carts. the 1.5ohm will get hotter faster than the 2.4ohm carts will, but wont be as efficient. by that i mean your going to get bigger rips with the 1.5ohm carts. and in order to use them with your TV setup youll need a 510 (male) to m601 (female) thread adapter. of which has been linked to many times in this thread.

a 510 cart is threaded "510"... the Omi carts are threaded "m601". you can get the Omi carts directly from delta9 or you can order them individually from planet vape.

i havent tried the rubber at all yet. i dont think using a wire to secure it is necessary considering it is adhesive backed. its good adhesive. it wont peel unless you physically try to peel it off.

i still am not a big fan of the "grip" of the battery sleeve. after holding it for a minute at a time its starts to slip down and the next thing i know my Dart/Evo are cooling down while i thought i was still in the "on" position.

If thermovape tells me it is safe and will remain out of the airpath, I could always try plastidipping the switch on my T1 since it is easily removable. Something tells me that plastidip may not handle the heat well, but besides that I'm not sure if there is enough clearance between the switch and the body. It would probably scrape it off :/

Actually now that I think about it I could plastidip the middle of the switch itself and create just one area of plastidip to push up on it without touching the switch.


Tim is this safe from an air path sense? I'll do my own research (or try it out) and see if the plastidip can take the heat. I just wanna make sure I'm not going to be sucking down that shit trying to save some fingers in the process!

I've had the rev since nearly the beginning and recently have been using the DART both HV and LV. I use what I think are high grade waxes although I buy them rather than make them so how great their grade is probably debatable. But I don't use QWISO or bubble hash or full melt. Just wax.

I just have a few questions for the sage minds in here:

1. The performance of the HV Dart seems to be dropping off. Just doesn't seem to get as hot as it used to. I was thinking that the unit needed to be cleaned and/or the batteries replaced.

Can someone remind me how it's suggested to clean and dry and get the DART ready to go again?

2. I'm pretty sure the battery performance declines over time. I'm using the same 6 3V Tenergy batteries for 9 months or so now. Should I try new ones?

I arrived at the HV dart needing cleaning and possibly new batteries because the LV I have used less often and it seems to be performing better these days.

What power supply do most people prefer for the LV dart? I only have a Persei, Omicron V2, and a DA that I'm sure will break the next time I use it. Even tho I thought the 3.7V Persei and Omicron V2 should perform similarly, I find the Persei in the 3.7V config works way better than the Omi V2.

Is there a better option for the LV that you guys prefer? Source?

When this thing works well, it is incredible. I started with the Omicron and loved it, but then I discovered using the actual TI nail, and that destroyed my tolerance and now it's just such a pain to constantly fuss with keeping the Omi carts working smoothly. If I'm gonna have to mess with the device every few hits any way, I'll take the monsters you get from the Rev.

I'd start with soaking the two metal parts in ISO for say 5 minutes then boiling them in a couple inches of water for 20 minutes. Shake them off then air dry or bake them at 200 degrees F (no more). It takes mine maybe 15 minutes to dry again. Enough time to enjoy a cup of tea.

It might be worth a try with a new pair of batteries, but they generally fail with shorter service lives but still make full power (charge more often).

V2 has a design fault that causes it's output to be substandard at higher powers. The HVD upgrade is supposed to fix this, but it hasn't been seen yet. I like the (17670 based) supply sold by TV, it works very well with the TV vape unit (go figure...). I measured the outputs of V1, V2 and the Ultra into the load, the powers delivered were 6.8 Watts, 6.0 Watts and 8.2 Watts respectively. The Omicron batteries were fresh charged, the TV was about 1/3 used at 4.0 Volts. Serious advantage to TV as you can see.

To put that in perspective, V2 delivers 4.7 Watts to the 2.4 Ohm cart in my test, so you gain 1.3 Watts going to the 'high power' cart. But putting that same high power cart onto the TV supply gives you almost twice that, 2.2 Watts more. Percentage wise it's not as much (28% for going to 1.5s, 37% additional increase for shifting to the Ultra supply). FWIW 2.4 Ohm Omicron carts put out 5.7 Watts on the Ultra supply, nearly as much as high output carts on the V2.
