That just happened...
I use my cloud in a toolshed and at night in the dark. Last night I picked it up and realized something about it didn't feel right. I turned on my flashlight and there was the hugest queen bee I've ever seen in between my hand and the cloud. I panicked and dropped it from about 3-4'. It landed square on it's face. The bee was so shocking it took a moment for me to comprehend what I'd just done. But I picked it up and it was fine. 
I put a jar over the bee and left it till this morning. It's now been released.

So, am I correct in understanding that your unit withstood being dropped 3-4 feet? or you dropped a bumble bee?
I see a couple possibilities lol;
You dropped the cloud, and bee, and the cloud landed on the bee's face, but the cloud is okay.
You dropped the cloud, and bee, and the cloud landed on the bee's face, but the bee is okay.
You dropped only the bee, not the cloud, and the bee landed on it's face, but is okay.
Sorry for the confusion...just seems if someone dropped a cloud from 3-4 feet, more people would be surprised that it withstood the fall, and/or happy to hear it.

as for your question, no. According to other users, along with SM55/VXL, the cloud will not cause your flowers/herbs to combust under normal operating conditions. There are ways, however to create abnormal operating conditions, which could lead to combustion of your herbs. One way would be to "throttle" the airflow, by covering the bottom of the unit, where the air intake it. I believe, if the temp was maxed, and you pulled slow enough, while covering the air intake partially/mostly, you could get high enough temps to combust.

Yes, a few users have, all with great success! To quote one such user,
Depending on the type of hash you have, different methods are preferable. I know some members use the method of taking some cotton (preferably organic) and putting their liquid/oily hash on that, with another piece of cotton over it, then stuffing this in the ELB. Others prefer to make a sandwich of herb/hash, with the herb on the bottom, hash in the middle, herb on top. You could also use ABV.

I would suggest you search or read through this thread a bit...a lot of your potential questions, have been answered already, and probably more than once. I don't mind helping people find info, but others get annoyed with repeat questions, page after page.
My cloud actually survived being dropped from over 3'. It luckily landed on the face and not the fragile top portion. I've had several sessions since and all is indeed well.
That's wonderful news! I feel more confident in the structural integrity of the VXC now knowing that.

I don't think that OBG is saying that they have abandoned the order in which they are shipping (based on pre order) so much as he is saying, that knowing your pre-order date will no longer provide as accurate of a timeline...
In the beginning, it was easier to guess, 'I pre ordered in december of 2010, so I should get my email in about x and x of weeks,' etc...But, where we are into the 2011 pre orders, and VXL have released the proverbial hounds, it will be harder to say a certain pre order date should get an invite around such and such a time.

I've had great success with fatty bho dabs I sandwich between cotton balls. I turn the cloud up to max, and get amazing flavor as satisfying, super effective hits. In fact, between my cloud and my Thermovape Revolution, my glass and Ti nails and skillets have been packed up and put on a shelf for a rainy day. I've also had great success with kief, both sandwiched in between cotton balls and also in a bud sandwich. Gives the rip an extra nice kick, like a cloud rip needed it

I sandwich a small pancake of bubble in between two layers of abv. I set the dial at 9 and take many hits. I call it the "forever bowl" because it lasts forever.

I do the same with kief, it can get a little popcorny, but I seperate my low temp abv from my high temp abv, so the bud I use still has a little green to it and doesn't taste too off, and hasn't been pushed past noon on the dial. If I use the darrrk brown high temp abv, tastes realllllly popcorny, but still not unplesant.
I've puffed many a late night bowl of low temp abv with the cloud set to max, so I'm subjecting way drier than average bud to the highest temp the cloud will do(without throttling), and I've yet to combust, or even get a black speck in my abv.
