It is no secret that I never liked the change from acrylic stems to glass stems.
Some said it was because glass is classier.. but the box itself is covered with an acrylic lid!
I still order and use the Acrylic stems...
Why I prefer the original Acrylic Stems over Magic Flights new Glass stems.
1-The Acrylic Stems stayed cool. In the Arizona sun (107〬) when I do a session, it burns my lips!
2-The Acrylic stems, when dirty got an even amber color inside the tube, which is easily cleaned with qtip and alcohol, as long as you don't soak in alcohol and always rinse with water!
The glass stems do not turn that even amber.. the oils stay more colorless, but they also "glob up" in the tube... sort of speckling the inner tube with tiny beads of oil.. that when built up look foggy and dirty.
3-The acrylic stem always feels smooth to the touch and to the lip.. and visually the place that your lips have been is smooth.
The Glass stems take a "lip print" that is 3 dimensional. It can be visually seen as a "dried spittle.. and can be felt with the fingertips, and certainly with the lips. When I get a patient here a Launch Box of their own I add a free Acrylic stem.. then I teach them the etiquette of not handing another person a cruddy stem! (same goes with the glass mouthpiece of any vape).
4-The glass stem makes a scary "clink" against the teeth if you are hitting the box while being driven!.. the acrylic made a soft "click"
5- They drop, and break. Locally I know of a few dozen MFLB users. half went acrylic after 1st breakage.

Anyway...
I found a new use for the Coco Tips a friend had given me... I use it as a stem for my MFLB when in public, with only a glass stem on hand.
They are by no means "classy" looking, nor would I like to see them sold with the box... but they are disposable, and inexpensive.. and can fit into an SSV tube... an Extreme Q tube... and Iolite tube,
and NO2 tube, and finally ... yes.. with an MFLB. I keep one with, and am never embarrassed to use it if anyone hands me a cruddy stem/mouthpiece!
It can be used angled up... or down, depending on preference-

(yes.. that is a distiller for Phoenix Tears in the background!)

Damn, I'm continually impressed with what we do with our boxes!

@ThirdGunman, I have a baby blue nosed pit that I take on walks everyday because he is real energetic. I love my box because it's low-key, doesn't smell, and I don't have to stop and find wind shelter like I would have to with a pipe. Take a couple of puffs and casually slip it back in my pocket, repeat as needed.

Also, I'm excited to see if the MF team is still beta-releasing the concentrates adapter on the 15th. Fingers crossed that there aren't any delays! :brow:

Hey thanks Vicki! I often dog sit my friend's black lab, love em'. Pretty sure the main girl in that picture is a Yellow Lab/Australian Cattle dog mix, but who knows.

Those mouthpieces are pretty awesome Vitolo. Having a more sanitary/disposable stem option sounds like a killer idea to me. Not to mention that #4 (the teeth clinking) and of course #5 (the ease of dropping and instantly shattering the glass) have kept me from using my backup glass stem that often.

@Quetzalcoatl, I've wanted a blue nosed pit since I was a kid, but my dogs have rarely come to me through my own personal choice, but they are all amazing in their own way. My dogs always seem to be balls of energy though, so I know what you mean about the walks, and they always seem to want to run a little faster and further than I do which is why I often cheat and use the bicycle. :D I definitely think the launch box has found another niche as one of the best dog walking vapes.

Be careful with the Blue Nose. Its actually a defect, my wife and I were watching a documentary that mentioned it. We're the proud owners of an American Staffordshire Terrier (well, majority. He's got some lab in him to). We don't call him a Pit anymore, because of the ignorance people display when you tell them. He's one of the most gentle, smart and other animal friendly dogs, we've had (except he really wants the guinea pigs, he wants the squeakers inside).

And yes... he is constant energy. We got him at about 11 months and he's just over a year now. Even with 2 other dogs, he can't get his energy out.

OK... back on topic. :D

the wood on mine seems to be a lot lighter then some ive seen here. anyone know why?

I have three MFLB's, and the wood is a different shade on all of them. They were all manufactured at different times, and one is a limited edition, exotic wood. The other two are just regular wood, but still one is lighter than the other. Not sure why, honestly.

Did I miss the announcement? Can you point me to that post?
Aw drats, I misread the post. They're going into the next stage hopefully by the 15th and going into beta shortly after.

If my little guy's papers are right, he's at about 8 months right now. This is a pic I just snapped of this cold-blooded baby killer

Just different pieces of wood. Its just like people. Two people, same race... but different appearance.

Also matters which part of the tree it was cut from.

Hi All

Just got my MFLB Monday, not only my first vape, but I've never vaped before either, I put up a review on my favorite site, but I thought I'd copy and paste it here too.

I still can't quite believe that something that gets me this high produces so little odor and smells nothing like weed, I find myself taking hits just 'cause I can :) , then looking around to see if anybody noticed, before I got this the procedure for getting medicated was

Step 1, load pipe and peek out bedroom window to see if coast is clear.
Step 2, leave my pipe in the porch and saunter into back yard to make sure adjoining back yards are clear.
Step 3 go back into the porch and take as big a hit as I can, gotta burn the entire bowl or the porch stinks.
Step 4 go back outside and if the coast is still clear blow out smoke at the ground so there's no smoke cloud, or if the coast isn't clear go back inside and blow smoke into the stove hood fans.

now the procedure is

Step one, get medicated, any time and anywhere I happen to feel like it
cool.gif

I'm impressed with pretty much everything that came in the box, even the box itself is obviously made by stoners for stoners and will likely be my stash box of choice till I get another one of these.

All the reviews I read complained about the lack of a quick charger, this one will charge 2 batteries in 90 minutes and one in 45 minutes.

The launch box definitely has a learning curve, first time I put in a freshly charged battery I singed a trench full of weed and got a lungful of pure nasty :( , had to throw the trench full away, but with a bit of practice I got it figured out.

the first two or three hits off of every trenchfull taste like scissor hash, sticks to the tongue for a few minutes :) and the rest tastes much better than my water pipe did, I found a good home for my water pipe, it was that or put it down, I won't be using it again.

the buzz is very different, it takes longer to hit and it's much clearer and in the head, I'm smoking Haze right now and with the launch box there is zero body stone, with the water pipe there's plenty of body stone.

It does take longer to get medicated, I'd say it takes 3 hits on the Launch Box to equal one medium hit off a joint, tastes so good that's more of a plus than a minus.

one other side effect I've noticed about the Magic Flight Launch Box, it seems to make people who buy it go on and on about how friggen awesome it is
punk.gif

Keeper? HELL YEAH :)

after 5 days of being really baked I've had a few more thoughts on the MFLB:

I think I might have been MUCH less impressed with the MFLB if I hadn't run across you tube vids detailing the Techniques for hitting it,
this is probably the best tutorial
, but some are much funnier :)

as someone who has never vaped before I think the most amazing thing about the MFLB is the freedom it gives me to toke not just in my home, but any where. You know that lady that's always just ahead of you at the express checkout with 4 terrorists, er I mean kids, 23 items, 84 coupons (11 of which are expired) and wanting to write a check for 47 cents? well, shes much less irritating if you just pull your vape out of your pocket and have a hit or 3 :)

I don't know if it's true of all vaporizers, but with the MFLB one gets much more baked than one thinks one is, google for YouTube reviews of the mflb and you'll see what I mean :) I saw one that demonstrates perfectly why the squares think cannabis causes brain damage, wish I could find the link again.

again, I'm not sure if it's true of all vaporizers but I was surprised at how much bite the vapor from my launch box has, I didn't expect to cough or feel any expansion in my lungs, I do both, and I get congested if I take too many hits too quickly, say 10 hits in 5 minutes, a good rule of thumb is that if the box feels warm in my hands it's time to take a break,

I also didn't expect the flavor, I assumed flavor would be the first casualty of vaporization, the reality is quite the opposite, the first couple of hits on a trench are sheer ambrosia and the flavor goes downhill from there, I stop once it starts to taste only as good as a joint but I suppose if one didn't have a good supply of bud one might have to accept the fact that the last few hits on a trench are gonna taste like crap.

it's probably not suitable for someone with inflammation or arthritis in their hands, it takes a fair amount of pressure to force the battery to make contact on the positive terminal, I suppose one could just remove the foam ring that prevents the battery from remaining in contact once released, but unless your a much less forgetful stoner than I that's probably not a good Idea, there is an adjustable power adapter available at magic-flight.com that just requires the push of a button, costs 60 bucks though, I'll be getting one :) , and maybe one of the limited edition launch boxes as well, got a friend who really needs one of these.

One thing I would love to see from magic flight is a pullover piece to make the launch box look like an inhaler for asthma, stealth squared :)

You should have saved your water pipe and used your box with it! Also, save the ABV (already been vaped) stuff, you can make some killer green dragon or edibles with it that give you a terribly powerful body stone if you do too much. Also, I did notice that the o-ring was harder to press when I first got it, but about a week ago I realized that it's really really easy for me to do it now, maybe the wear has started to take its effect on the elasticity of the o-ring making it less difficult to press while still providing the same safety. And this is coming from someone who has joint pain from the shoulders to the nails on both arms, who's had days where I can't even brush my teeth because I can't hold my toothbrush! It also helps to have a bit of herb prepared so you don't have to mess around with grinders ;)

And welcome to the wild world of vaporizers, I've already got my birthday and Christmas gift list full of fancy glass and different vapes and accessories that I'll be eyeing enviously until I can afford them :|

Any idea if this is for hash or just oils?

I would really love an adapter that allowed me to vape hash in my LB!

I got paid to kill people.
Anyone here get the free "Tiny Book of Essential Wisdom" with an order from the MFLB site? Read that when you are stoned...it makes for great amusement haha.

Wow this is exciting! Like Vito, I wonder what consistencies of concentrates they'll handle. Way to go Magic Flight, always coming out with great new ideas. I can't wait to see the first demo!

OH NOOOOOO, devastation, my launch box looks broken. Has anyone else had their box split at the top of the trench where the seam is? I've noticed over the last couple of days my box didn't seem to be hitting properly, then this morning when I inspected it closely under sunlight I could see the seam has split up one side at the top of the trench. I think maybe air is getting into the box and that is why it is not hitting properly.
I'm in Australia, should I contact the company I bought the box off, or send an email direct to MFLB in the USA? the worse thing is I have no other vape, I cant wait weeks for a replacement, I might just have to fork out for a knew one. I'm just scared I'll be tempted to combust.:(

hey skippy you will be covered under warranty if there are breaks in your e box. If you bought the box in Australia.Contact the Aus supplier straight away.
if they wont replace, contact Magic flight. They are good people and will email u back promptly with an answer. I have had several service parcels delivered from magic flight to Australia.turn around time can be up to a month.

My advice...... Id try and sort it out with youre aust retailer first.see if they do replacement under warranty.

work out too how you re gonna vape in the meantime!

If it makes it any easier .I just recieved a second launch box a few weeks ago.i ts cool to have a second one, just for that very reason. You never know when you ll need it! other wise get a vapor genie coil to see you through. You can buy them from australia vaporizers

best of luck Skippy:)

Does MF offer a warranty on "accessories" like the WPA? Might be worth a try to contact them and ask.

Yeah I did contact them, and they said there is a 90 day warranty, which is now expired. I'm not going to buy another one so I will try wood glue or something.

Thanks,u bwade wunner, I need some luck ATM.
I've just sent an email to the company I bought it off here. I hope they can help me out, I dont want to have to wait a month or more for a replacement. I said in the email I'd just buy a knew one off them and asked them if MFLB replace my one can I sell it back to them. I just dont want to wait a month, I've been combustion free since I bought this thing last August and I dont want to be tempted to combust because this is broken.

You know, if you are willing to buy a new one, you should just keep both. After Magic Flight replaces your old unit, you will then always have a back up, just in case. :)

Yea, maybe you're right, I don't want to fork out for another one now but I could afford it ATM so it maybe better to do it now than find something else go wrong in the future when I'm not cashed up enough to buy one straight away.
