The MFLB's packaging is elegant and expensive compared to the Cloud's.
Packaging and accessories cost money. I'd rather have the option to say yea or nay on accessories, and get my money's worth on the product. Packaging is usually thrown away, eventually.
I was stating that if someone wanted to do-better with this design, it would only take a few million. You seemed disapointed in my assumptions. My assumption is that if 5 guys can produce 1m for capitol, a rich individual or large company could easily contribute 10-fold that.
This has already been addressed in the thread. They had one or more chances to hook up with some big money. But big money usually wants a say in the profits area, and that usually means compromising the product in one or more areas. VapeXhale said thanks but no thanks. They want control and that means  for us buyers, believe it or not.

The majority of the people who have that sort of capital don't want to invest it in developing a niche product from the ground up.

My hydra tube stands up fine and stable on it's own.

I think robot from vxc said problem with component maybe 400 of them, cost over 4 figures? so is this the heater? Then maybe heater costs about $68 dollars, just wondering hi thc saw your post about packing, I guess a case is best, or just wrap back up in bubble wrap into original box or roll up in a towel & put in any box or bag?

Wow, a million bucks, huh? I don't know about that...

You don't even have the slightest clue.

I feel for you, this is one shitty situation that i don't think the vxh crew has thought through. Is it true that there is an high malfunction rate for the international users? I dont recall having seen any of these users speak up on the forums. I believe if a failure occurs from someone using an unregulated inverter then its the users fault. if someone spent $400+ on a product they would have to be an idiot to use a crappy inverter.

Its unfair to the international users who were close to getting their clouds. If i was in Tylers shoes I'd feel mistreated.

I am an international user, my cloud died 10 minutes later of the first time I plugged it in nothing burned, the unit just died.

My inverter is regulated and stands 500 watts, I used to plug in a Vrip an Extreme and other kind of US electronics for a long time with no problem at all, I checked the inverter with a tester as I did with the cloud, the inverter is just fine and the cloud is dead.

I didn't hear about any other international users that had a damaged unit, but some of them said that the cloud works fine for them with an inverter, so IMHO the problem its obviously not the inverter but the cloud, since several US units failed as well.

I'm still waiting for VXL to answer my last emails, and to give me a solution to my problem, I expect nothing less than a unit that had been checked out for them, and works flawlessly, and of course the shipping back to Spain paid by them since I already paid once the shipping, also paid the shipping to send the unit back and will have to pay the customs fees once the cloud arrives, I'll feel insulted if I'll have to pay the shipping to Spain.

As you would imagine right now I am far from happy with VXL, I was once an unconditional supporter that waited two years to have this vaporizer and followed this and the other thread almost daily, I actually sold all my Vape collections to buy this thing, I really hope they make it up to me so I can become a fan again and most important enjoy the product I paid for.

You are right Tea , I don't have a clue about marketing and producing a vaporizer. So what? I was just wondering about the figure that's all. This really should not degenerate into a fan-boy vs. anyone who questions the Cloud. No?

mod note: You don't want the discussion to "degenerate" but you've done that yourself with the term "fan-boy". Not a good post.

The marketing isn't the expensive part. Starting somethiing from the ground up like the VXC team has is not cheap what so ever.

@ganja-farmer - we hear you loud and clear, I'll be testing your unit personally before sending back out. One thing that we found is that some of the international units are exhibiting different types of issues than we've seen from the US models which is why we are trying to better understand what is happening with these units. If they were the exact same problems, then we could cross the inverter off the list but since it isn't, the most obvious variable is the inverter and we are investigating that currently.

Just a clarification - we have spent 6 figures in R&D, not 7.

"I'm a bit on the side of WatTyler. This is rediculous. This company has made more mistakes and screw ups that I've ever head of out of a start-up", said THCMuscle.

Have you ever worked at or with a start-up? If so, I'd like to hear of one with fewer issues or who handled it better than these guys did. I have worked with and for start-ups on numerous occasions, in software, food service, and the non-profit legal services sector.

And in fact I have never seen a new company be so public in reporting their product development and the problems encountered. Nor have I worked with one that had anywhere near as few "mistakes and screw ups" VapeXhale has had. Please keep in mind that with other companies, even other vape companies, you're not normally being TOLD what the problems are.

Perfect example with another vape - the miVape has been pushed back and pushed back and pushed back. But since VapeZilla doesn't blog their development and production, nobody in the community knows WHAT kind of problems they're having and how many, if any, are their fault. As the most recent post from Robot makes abundantly clear, the problem here is with the quality of some of the components from a vendor. I don't see how that counts as VapeXhale screwing up- I've lost count of the number of times I've been sent faulty hardware or software by established, respected vendors. It's simply part of business.

Again, I am speaking as someone who sent back an improperly running Cloud, had a whole gedillah with getting the return actually delivered to VapeXhale's mailroom, resulting in nearly two weeks between my paying and getting a working unit in my hands. While waiting for my replacement I was annoyed by the situation (though not by VapeXhale, who were very helpful) but since receiving it I have been overjoyed. Even with all of that, I would not hesitate to do it again to have this vaporizer now.

As an early adopter, not just of vapes but of all kinds of tech, I have dealt with many start-ups in addition to those I worked at. I can tell you from personal experience there are far, far worse ways to handle these issues. I was a Kindle early adopter, and it took more time and hassle to get a working Kindle 1 than to get my Cloud, and Amazon customer support wasn't fit to polish VapeXhale support's shoes - Amazon tried every excuse they could think of to not replace the unit, though they finally did. And that thing was NOT ready to ship - they ended up having to replace it 5 times before the next Kindle's came out. And that was with off-the-shelf tech, very little invented at Amazon.

I really appreciate the answer stonmonkey55, I didn't know that the international units are having different problems, I'll wait until you find out what happened, and you are sure you are sending me a unit that will have no problems.

I want to apologize if I am being a dick about my problem (I know I am) but I hope you understand my frustration as well as the other customers having problems, anyway I'm so glad to know that you will personally test my unit.

Anyone in the UK care to point me in the direction of a good inverter? Not exactly sure what I should be looking for. I'll check it later, but I'm just using one that I already had, I don't know if its regulated (Only cost about £30, although I've had no problems with it). I've had a look online but not really found much, all the ones on maplin.co.uk say "Regulated output - no". Don't know if that's what I should be looking at... I haven't been able to find many other places that sell them.

I'm a bit on the side of WatTyler. This is rediculous. This company has made more mistakes and screw ups that I've ever head of out of a start-up, and people continue to congradulate them on a superb job and re-enstate their paitence over waiting for a new unit.

So not only have I waited almost 2 years, I've paid twice (refunded once), heard a million excuses for delays, had the nice Cloud box removed from the package, as well as the HT stand.(Decreasing the value of the Cloud, making $350 even higher.) Meanwhile my 1year warranty is being eaten away while VXC fixes yet another of MANY MANY MANY problems.

Frankly, I believe VXC is going to eventually drop the ball and another company will produce this concept of a vape properly. A company with decent capital could copy this design (and easily ad improvments, remember, this unit has been aging ever since they stopped making revisions. Obvious improvments need to be made and they are known to many. This device could be improved upon and released before VXC even gets their sh*t together.) VXC has obviously been hurt by these problems (they've made substantial buget cuts), it may only be a matter of time till someone thinks they can do better.

You obviously lack any knowledge of starting a company with a product that was designed on paper from the ground up. These guys then have to work with overseas engineers to get the product designed. Then comes the alpha and beta units for testing....

You should spend less time token out and more time reading and you will find in the real world, every design has bugs.. How many revisions of the microprocessor thats in your cell or computer had before going full ramped up silicone?

I have trouble believing more then 1 million dollars has been devoted to this venture.

So when I first got my cloud the first thing that really struck me was how cool the easy load bowls are. What a perfect way to house the material. And each one made so perfectly. I've been puzzling in my mind what they might be.

So I was thinking about it again this morning and decided to try my google-fu.

And now I know all about inline strainer baskets. :)
http://www.pacific-industrial-filtration.com/strainer-baskets.html

So do I, I wouldn't be surprised if they have over two million dollars invested... (eye roll)

2 electrical engineers, a few mechanical engineers, some cad guys, outsourcing the glass manufacturing , yeah, I would say they have a shitload of money invested in this and more than one million.. It will take them thousands of units sold to recoup the r&d and materials investment on this venture just to show a profit. The good thing is for them, when they do their taxes, they can write off the loss for five years. I'm sure they will have this issue sorted out within 90 days.

When you guys goto school, do you actually listen to what the professor is even saying?

That just happened...
Condescend much? lol

If you would bother to read a little closer you would see SM corrected the 7 figure amount spent on r&d to 6 figures.

 This is just too funny. FYI, Wat Tyler led the Tea Party of his time.
bahahaha, I was wondering what the fuck you were talking about Pakalolo, till I scrolled up and noticed jahi's post. I've got Tea Party on ignore, and even when someone quotes him it doesn't show- which puts the accompanying comments out of context. But there's a button at the bottom that says 'show ignored content', and hey presto, it all makes sense.

Not quite sure that I'd agree that my rebellion was quite like the Tea Party of it's time, though I can see the similarity with regards to tax perhaps. Very different times though.

And Tea Party, you need a hug. So much negativity. It's not good for your spirit and it won't make you a "wild success" (lol, who talks like that? been listening to too many motivational self help videos?)

Just past the 2 month mark with my unit. & No. 18 is still running strong, I just ran it at max for 16 hours straight for the 4th consecutive weekend.

I do need to get some new ELB's I have one thats pretty worn to the point were it is not snug in the joint at all but to be fair it did get a lot of use.:ko:

I too personally want to buy some ELB's for my personal use, if possible. It seems they would work perfectly with my underdog.

Can you purchase these off the site or are they not for sale? I looked all over your site and couldn't find anything.

Too hot=combustion?

Dude I've had an ssv since 05, the differences between it and the cloud go way beyond style.
+1. i just got my underdogs and 1st impression is that it's night n day between a dog vs ssv/dbv, at least in hitting technique. for those who wants a 'decent' vape while waiting for the vxc, them dogs are hard hitting sumbitches

as an international customer, i dont feel mistreated at all and i still appreciate the openess that the vxc team has shown. maybe i kinda expected any startup to concentrate on their 'core' market first before they expand and spend unneccesssary dollars on costly overseas repair/shipping/refunds that could heavily tax their (limited) finances. fix the issues first and then sell the product i say. of course my opinion is biased as i have a good 'back up' vape, "bow wow wow!" :D

I realize the current inventory of the Clouds is being held up while more rigorous quality assurance measures are taken; however, I have been wondering if there is any update on the SGW replacement hydratubes?
Also, would it be possible for the VXL Team to give us updates as they fulfill certain 'year' preorders? (As in, when the final 2010 person has been taken care of, an announcement could be made signifying this?)
I believe this would help clear up some of the confusion concerning the inaccurate discussion last week of guesstimating where VXL is, in fulfilling the preorders- I'm assuming there's still a size-able number of us 2010 (Feb) SGW preorders that haven't received invitation yet. (even though they've been successful in shipping out packages of Vertigo/Inhouse MUCH further down the preorder chain)
Exciting to see things continue to progress in a positive manner- situations arise, but the steps taken will benefit everybody in the end. :)
