Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

Knickertoker that's a really nice Sovereignty piece and it appears from the screen shot of your next video you've got a whole BUNCH of nice pieces in the collection heh? I've seen those Aoyue hand held heat tools before and always wondered how well it would work for vaporizing---looks like it works really well just running a bit hot for my tastes.
Hey Shadow, would you mind explaining why the Aoyue hand-held devices run too hot for your liking? As I understand, it has an operating range of 100-480 C, so it has an operating temperature that starts well below the optimal vaping range. It also utilizes a turbine motor to maintain uniform hot air. Sounds kinda sweet for ~$75.

Knicker, what would you say is the verdict on that device, considering its low price point and seemingly good specs? The only thing I dislike is the metal heating core. Can you speak to the taste? What's the verdict on it using a metal core?

He didn't say that all those devices run too hot, just that it was running a bit hot for his tastes in the vid (guessing he was judging by the thick white vapor). With their operating range, of course they could be dialed-in to preference. I've no first hand experience with those but they look like effective little heat guns. All the caveats/concerns of heat-guns would still apply: air-path through/in-contact with heating element(s), EMFs, etc., etc.,.

Nebu got it...it was just the video example looked pretty whited out which isn't what even the thickest "blue" vapor will ever look like even with the most perfect lighting (the trick in videos if you want it to be both clean and look good!!!) dialed in. For the cost it looks like a great product that would be competitive with the Makita HG1100 made by Steinel for instance IF the airpath and heater core are of exceptable materials and don't adversly affect the the taste or worst which is why I was asking about it---it sure has a cool form to it. Knicker you still there?

Damn it's hard to concentrate on thoughtful replies with that blondies' ass in my face White Russian LOL! Bad news good news and bad news (potential anyway) I just got off the phone with the shop --- all back orders except for those containing 14.4mm GonG or 12mm slider bowls will be shipping TODAY according to the shop. We finally got the next run of VHW glass covers into the kiln this a.m. (early) to be completed today in time for shipping, but ran out of some sizes of bowls and broke a tool that had to be replaced before we could get more bowls into production---the tool was replaced Wed, but the bowls didn't fit into the production schedule until today so it looks like early next week. Tues/Wed is the normal day for International shipments, but if they've got what they need for your order White Russian I'll see if I can get it picked up by a bro driving by the shop this a.m. and we'll get it out this weekend---otherwise I will be there Tues and will make sure it goes out same day. Anyone waiting patiently (or impatiently---believe me I understand and don't hate on anyone for being pissed) please hit us up with a shirt size so we can at least throw a Vrip T in there as some swag for the lag! it's been a challenging last couple of months for us trying to keep up with surging summer demand (usually a slower time for us) with our production manager out for over a month and one of our Maestros not being consistent as usual and a couple of broken tools at the worst time possible. When it rains it pours...good news is with new tools in hand and our production manager healthy and on it again we should be able to get ahead of the game a bit and have some inventory for fast turn arounds starting next week.

I swear that wasn't what I was thinking!

Glass wasn't ready to go for your order WR in time for my bro to swoop it yesterday but should be all good for Tues. We did get a bunch of back orders out yesterday though so thanks for the patience everyone....the goods are on the way and we're shipping regularly again!

Nice one good to hear you're dialed back in SacToker! Slightly Medicated I just took some weights for you to answer your question (and a couple of actual follow through Vrips for accuracy of course). To be clear all of our lower bowls are tooled to the same approximate size in terms of volume the only difference is the downstem size as all of our bowls accept the same upper intakes --- (in theory anyways as sometimes fitting is required on retro-fits that where tooled far apart due to tool wear and tubing deviation). There are screen variations so I tried them all: If you run the screen in the upper position flat above the o-ring groove you are packing about .15 to .2 g assuming well ground high oil content well cured herbs and a medium pack density --- if you pack it a bit denser you can easily get .25 in there. With the screen in the lower position below the o-ring groove and pushed back up flat or convex a tad you're packing .2 to .3 assuming medium pack density and same high oil content well cured herb --- if you pack it denser you can easily get .35 in there. If you run the screen bowled out at the bottom of the bowl you can pack way more than you need even if you're eight feet tall with the lungs of a triathlete. Just for the heck of it I tried it out and was getting 3.5 to .4 in the medium density range and could probably squeeze as much as a half a gram in there if packed dense for stirring instead of packing to get a few rounds out of it. The intention of the system though is to pack smaller amounts at a time, enjoy a real nice FULL SPECTRUM vapor that you can get to in a primer or two and should only require one or two stirs max to fully dry it out and then pack another, and another and well depending upon how it flows, maybe even another. That said, we do have a number of customers who simply push the screen all the way down and milk bigger bowls a bit longer stirring here and there and save themselves the effort of unpacking and packing. I think you'll sacrifice the flavor potential a bit this way but the first few pulls will be insane! With Vrip there is no wrong way unless it isn't working for you....whatever your preference in vapor or hybrid smoke/vapor or type of functional delivery vessel (i.e. tube or bubbler) there is a way to tune the Vrip hardware/technique-wise for optimal results.

Thanks ShadowVape. That is an awesome answer. Hit all the spots I was looking for. I will have to fine tune my method and find out what works for me. I have a feeling I might be sacrificing some of the flavor for the larger bowl sizes. I so used to smoking .5 bowls in one hit. I wanted something that would deliver in quality and also quantity. I bit the bullet and ordered from EZVapes.com I got a call today saying my order shipped. So I should have it before the end of the weekend. Ritualistically this is as close to smoking as I can get though. So I am hopeful that it will satisfy my ritual needs.

I have a random question. On the user guide on the site it said one thing: Do not leave VHW inverted and not in use for longer than one hour.

Does this mean when it is running only, or does that apply to when it is turned off as well? Can I just leave it turned off and resting in the glass stand that I bought for it? Thanks!

BTW I LOVE THIS THING!

Right on Slightly Medicated glad you're dialing into the Vrip! You're absolutely all good leaving it stored in the stand (assuming safe place, i.e. strain relief on cord, no dogs, cats or toddlars rolling around --- well actually dogs are great for business anyway LOL --- Dogs bring us more repeat business than any review or ad ever has!). You just don't want to leave it on full heat stand-by mode inverted in stand without being used for over an hour max (preferably not even that long) because you'll start cooking the silicon tip seal for sure (easy fix but still) and could potentially damage the board or element due to the extra heat being held in. The extra heat being held in is great for faster heat ups and for extra heat for the first pull to get it going a little faster without then having to try to turn it down a little to milk it blue and clean without over-heating, but if you want to leave it on full heat stand-by mode it's too much---if this is the goal just leave it horizontal on a heat proof surface and you're all good. That said we recommend ideally turning it down to a lower temp for long stand-by modes and then turning it back up right before you want to use it and it will be full heat in a minute or two instead of a few more or, even better, just managing time better to compensate for the few minute heat up without putting yourself in a position to be tempted to pull too soon before it's heated all the way up (a bigger bummer than just being a few minutes late to wherever you had to rock to IMHO)... I plug it in and by the time I've got my PerK iced up and my herb dish out with a jar opened and some herbs ground and packed it's usually perfectly ready to go if in a horizontal mode or even a bit beyond where it had to be if inverted in the stand. Speaking of which...got some Banana Skunk calling my name...off to the R&D lounge!

Forgot to answer your call Vaped Crusador---hit us up by email to request and I'll forward to the shop to have the girls look to see if there are any VWT Minis sitting around somewhere so we can hook you a deal on one. I had a few that I would use for travel purposes over the years where a return trip would be difficult for the piece and I didn't want to carry and/or sacrifice a bigger piece so there is a chance there may be one in the office storage too, but it's been awhile since I've seen one. We are now selling the VWT BuB for the same purpose to some extent as it can break down even smaller and most people prefer the ergonomics of the VWT BuB to the VWT Mini which was a little clumsy if you weren't careful with it, but worked damn good!!! We just didn't have alot of demand for it so eventually discontinued it and then replaced with the BuB.

Oh and I just checked your blog out too Slightly Medicated...looks like a cool format and off to a good start. Let us know if you could use any stock pics or anything from us if you're going to review the Vrip for your audience (nothing on our site is locked BTW and the image most seen for Vrip such as on the Wikipedia vaporizer page is common license). Be sure to check the videos if you haven't already....and since you seemed to be looking for a vapor solution that preserved the smoking ritual you should know Vrip's Mission is all about preserving the ritual of waterpipe or bubbler smoking while improving the flavor, concentration, and substance of the delivered inhalation. I come from the West Coast one hit "Snap-Thru" school of water pipe smoking as an aromatherapy ritual and I was looking to improve this ritual with vapor delivery starting back in the '90s (this is Mark BTW if you didn't already know---not Shadow I'm just using this as the Vrip FC account and it could be either myself, Shadow, or VaporGirl our wholesale rep posting---it takes a family!). I've also tested and played with just about every vaporizer or method of vaporization out there over the years (having a tough time keeping up today though which is why FC.com is so great!) and realized that without a metallic probe in your herb that corrects for windchill factor and moisture factor of the herbs there is really no way to keep the temp fully accurate at the point of extraction where it really counts (all "digitial" vaporizers use a "correction factor" to estimate the temp based upon distance to the extraction chamber from the temp probe so the number you're looking at is relative not real) hence our return to representing analgue simplicty with the VHW and simply dialing in to the experience for best results that fit the individual tastes, i.e. are you looking for super clean and concentrated (the most elusive but a Vrip speciality aka "Blue Vapor"), or do you like hybrid vapor/smoke---either way we've got you dialed with all GLASS heating and delivery surfaces and water and/or ice cooling and moisture conditioning of course! Damn that Banana Skunk is tasty and motivating! Now back to Work!

Hey Mark,

You guys are on my list of vaporizers to review. I have really enjoyed mine so far. One of the major aspects I was going to highlight was the ritualistic nature of your product. I have been doing the .25-.5 gram snap through my water pipe for 9 years now. There are only a couple of vaporizers that deliver the type of chest expanding hit I am used to. Yours is the closest to the smoking ritual I have ever come across.

I plan on doing a video review with demonstration. I will also be taking the photographs myself. I might use some of your stock images for the bowl part and such. Would save me from having to clean my bowl up ;) I look forward to bringing the review to everyone.

Some Banana Skunks sounds pretty good. I am got some Bubba Kush X Fucking Incredible. It is pretty great. Isn't R&D great LOL.

Right on bro I'm a firm believer in the power of familiar ritual complemented by superior vapor quality and that is what Vrip was really founded upon even though we eventually expanded our product models. I look forward to your review/demos and contributing in any way possible---the more intelligent discourse out there the better for our culture no two ways about it! We've got some really cool things going on here at Vrip besides what everyone is already familiar with including the Valloon's return to the market thanks to our patent being granted and Storz and Bickel no longer having any ground to stand on demanding a cease and desist that took it off the market years ago (more to come in a seperate forum) and new product development --- the GonG VHW-VCBUIS is finally getting closer to production with some key supply issues getting sorted recently --- and we're really excited about our collaboration with ThermoVape for American Made Portable vapor with a Glass Vapor Path --- yeah you heard right!!!

I've been asked thousands of times to recommend the best portable vaporizer in my opinion and could never really do it with conviction until the ThermoVape. I just couldn't stomach the off-gassing of plastic smells and who knows what else to say nothing of the dry and harsh delivery....but ThermoVape changed all that with some really innovative technologies including a proprietary element from the medical device industry and a porous ceramic wafer (bio-compatible non-alumina ceramic) that evenly diffuses heat for clean convective vaporizing without hotspotting. And not only are they American Engineered and Manufactured (in CA like Vrip), but the founders are as smart as they are cool and in reviewing our IP and their design and manufacturing capabilities we have found some serious synergies that I'm confident will benefit both companies and the customers we serve given our complementary product models. We will have glass mouthpieces and glass 14.4mm GonG adaptors for the ThermoVape available very soon that require only a special high temp o-ring around the bowl for usage (very similar to Vrip bowl assembly) and they are improving and adapting their line so fast I won't even guess what more they will have in the near future for the James Bond needing a Vape on the fly in all of us!!! Not quite a Vrip, but so damn close for a rig with no wires I'm using one myself regularly (I am admittedly a vapor snob) when I just don't have the outlet or the time....and if you still want the water and/or ice conditioning of the water tool well you can have that too with the GonG adaptor! Stay posted more to come soon....

My eyes just exploded. I can't believe I just read you are paring up with ThermoVape.. This is going to be epic!

ThermoVape is like the Swiss Army Knife of vaporizers. Everyday it seems like a new tool/accessory or something is coming out for their products. I love how modular everything is. I can't wait to hear more.

When you get those GonG VHW-VCBUIS you know where to sending it for testing and review ;) hehehe

I went to my dispensary today and got myself some Norwegian Kush... my favorite strain of all time. The grower is amazing. Same guy who did my BubbaKush X FI.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about the need for intelligent discourse for the betterment of our culture.

Stay posted Family headed to the shop on my way up North today and will be picking up samples of ThermoVape adaptors and rattling the cages on the GonG VHW-VCBUIS samples made with the new spherical joints I just sourced that appear to have nearly the exact ID sizing we need for the VHW as currently tooled so we can keep the dimensions and experience as close as possible to what everybody already knows and loves, but no longer need a tip seal. The wand will be a bit heavier obviously on the end and the intake will as well due to the extra glass necessary to grind the spherical joint surfaces out of but I'm hunching for the most particular of us it will be a hit for sure! Stay posted on TV adaptor availability hope to have an accurate timeline by end of week. Alright time for a quick Vrip of some old school NL x Haze for the road and I'll report back tonight!

RatM22 no worries just got to vriptech.com and the order page and the VHW catalogue and towards the bottom you'll find the heating element replacment service or just follow the link below:

http://www.vriptech.com/Merchant2/m...e_Code=VR&Product_Code=VHWH&Category_Code=VHW

You'll need to remove the glass cover first so you can send back just the heater and we'll swap out the element and send it back --- hit us up @ info@vriptech.com and we'll get you an install doc for tips on reinstallation of the wand cover (must be very careful).
