I'd suggest withholding judgment until it's fully designed and tested...I know that won't happen, of course, but felt it should at least be suggested. For myself, I hope to give it the most objective test I can of it's performance when my turn comes (a few weeks at most???).

In the end, if it does the job well....it does the job well as I see it. That's what most folks buy this stuff for, to use?

Oh by all means, we should withhold judgment. The thang ain't even released. And if a conduction vape can perform great and produce even and light brown ABV, then I won't care too much about exactly how it heats my herb. I should add that my personal reasons for caring about the whole convection vs. conduction thing are a matter of taste. I've never liked the taste of the MFLB or the super old school heated dish vapes -- they've always tasted a bit like smoke to me. Which is why I prefer to purchase and use vapes that are closer to the convection end of the spectrum.

Edit: sorry for back-to-back. mods merge if possible

Ofcourse I will wait till final model to officially make a judgement, and performance is the ultimate goal.

Taste is also my issue with the mflb and why i want a convection, but if the 8 makes the herb taste great and is conduction then i am fine with that :science:

Hey, cool. Sounds like we're back on the same page?

I too agree, convection has the edge in keeping the new stuff from tasting like a stale version of the last stuff. Given a choice, all else being equal, I'll bet on it.

I know we all want to make decisions based on hard facts (well at least some of us do....), but unfortunately, life is going on. Guys have to decide what to do today. Some can't wait and have to take a guess. I have the luxury of having good vapes to keep me company for now, I appreciate that. Some others don't have that, they're forced to take more risk therefore. Or wait while we have all the fun.... Which do you think will happen? Me too.

On our side we have two excellent models of customer support to look at. TV holds development close and depends heavily on secret testers. They are fiercely protective of 'early adopters'. THC, OTOH, is very inclusive in their designs. Sacrificing confidentiality for the benefit of direct customer input, another proven, if less traditional, model. Such a model also calls for special resources, which G seems to have a good handle on. Because of their more responsive design model, the line is less cohesive. Like a less stable fighter plane, that can be a big advantage, but has attendant risks. However, the major consumer one (getting caught with expensive now obsolete gear) is offset by THC's history of attractive upgrade offers.

This all leads to more good choices for us in the market place. Makes me laugh to think how the old Soviet Union might have made vapes. I bet everyone would stand in lines for an expensive light bulb that didn't work as a light.....and be glad they were far enough up the line for that? Give me free enterprise with the risk takers... and let's give those risk takers their due rewards. They're getting us what we really want when nobody else can.

I just don't want to buy a turkey in the process......

To be fair, even the v1 omicron is still a very competitive vaporizer in the market today. So far these guys haven't released a single flop... /unjinx

Trying to be patient is very hard. i only have a mflb atm and do not like it. and i love my persei and how G makes his products. I would love to buy a bunch of different vapes as would most people but we cannot so buying turkeys suck. if the 8 is not coming out till august which some people are thinking i may decide to get a desktop unit in the mean time, and I'm thinking an EQ 4 for 160 on amazon is the best bang for the buck but does this vape do concentrates like full melts or ice wax which doesn't work with the persei carts?

I agree with you Joe, which is why I decided to keep all four of my V1s in fact. How you relate that to my post above totally escapes me....V1 wasn't even part of that discussion I thought? Really an out of context quote IMO, something I never intended. THC is not a Russian Boot factory, they do pay careful attention to their customers and don't offer turkeys currently....IMO.

Well with the possible exception of the V1 charger.....no wait, they don't sell that any more, but they did once......

*UPDATE ON THE 8:

We've figured out a way to make the unit washable!
It's going to be a two-piece system where the LCD can be separated from the chamber.

G will be providing more info/updates when he gets back onto FC.

that's awesome news. much unexpected as well. keep it up guys!

any news on a preorder/release date?

80% Sure you can put whatever type of concentrate in it

I'll take the other 20% of that. I think the "8 Herb Vaporizer for Persei" is a vaporizer for the Persei to do herbs in called 8. Universe, I beleive, is intended to do herbs and concentrates....hence it's name.

Of course figuring out what G is going to do next is at best a very inexact science isn't it?

Since we now know that we can boil the chamber can we use oil or water extracts in the herb chamber with our bud?

Not for sure on the boiling part yet, but if we do incorporate it in the design then yes you can use it.

Oh sorry I just skimmed through the past couple pages and thought I read that :)

Hopefully we can do hashes and oil with our herbs in the 8, that is what will turn it from an amazing product into the ULTIMATE device in my opinion.

That is why we are working on it to make it happen.

Well no, I think perhaps you're not giving Murphy his due? If you go back about Thanksgiving you'll find that before Christmas 10,000 of the new leakproof carts will be available to forum members for reduced prices for Beta testing.....maybe next Christmas???

I think it's much more likely that things change along the way to Oz. In the end the only things we can buy are what are produced, and we can't get them before they're real. Hey, if was easy, it'd no doubt be done by now. It's not like everyone isn't behind it....but it's got to be right or it could kill THC. And then where would we be for keen stuff and daydreams of even keener stuff to come?

Until then, it's pretty hard to type one handed; what with fingers being crossed and all.

Guys the 8 is intended to be used with herbs. It can be used with oils, and water extracted concentrates, but it would not be as efficient as using lets say a cartridge, or a another device that we have for it.

.4 of oil just thoroughly destroyed me out of The 8. I just wiped it in there and turned it on, magic!

Lol that's what I want the nail cart to do!

But it's cool to know even the super-saturated honey bud will be just fine
