Very nice looking piece, sliqpd! :brow: Congratulations!

Hey Tom, I for one would definitely be intersting in a bowl like that. The one part of my PD ritual that I could find less troublesome is the part where I unscrew my 4-pc grinder to load my stem from my grinded stash that I leave on the screen. I'd love to have a wooden bowl with a lid like that to store my ground stash. And it looks beautiful to boot!

Sign me up!

Hey Stu I think that the porta-billy would be a good option for you. I'm about 5 3/4 weeks since ordering my walnut PD and I'm so excited. I've literally read 45 pages of this thread lol. I was wondering, does anybody have any real experience with battery packs? I know Tom says it only lasts 70-90 min but that would be ideal for me goin to the park and vapin with my friends real quick. I've read that the vapolution pack has problems with connections to the power jack of the PD. Has anybody tried any of the other packs and if so what would you reccomend? I prob have only 1/4 of a week to wait so when I get it I'll definitely write a review ( like there aren't enough of them already lol). :D

Hey stu, I use a double barreled porta-billy right now. goes from my grinder, to a small dish where I can dump it out on and not lose herb, and from there it goes smoothly into my portabilly.

what I like most about them is how neat they are and how the cover does not come off.
Tom, if you could some how incorporate that swivel type of lid into that bowl design up there^^ which I happen to really like so far, it would be perfect IMO, just something to think about.

nice piece of wood! sliqpd! and nice work on the PD photoshoot ;)

I received a nice little gift in the mail this morning, the vapor stem and cap for taking part in the 4/20 contest. An interesting addition included with the stem was a lovely little translucent coloured pebble - it is such a beautiful little thing it has me mesmerized staring at it after a few stems. :brow:

Many thanks to Tom and Pammy for both a useful and thoughtful gift.

that sounds really cool nuvap, that pebble seems like the perfect mini gift to include with such an item ;) I am going to have to get in on the next contest.

I managed to get a couple of really good clips capturing vapor production from the PD, I do this when theres tons of sunlight coming through my window so it really shows up, however, as im sure most of you know, its a lot more impressive in person  (plus my little camera is not the best)

yes thats fc in the backround, let me know what you guys think

btw had some qwiso hash sandwiched between herb in the stem for these shots

Sliqpd, that's a beautiful place, reminds us of our Oregon scenes, we miss it, but are enjoying the desert ... :)

And that brings up the pebbles mentioned above, by Nuvap. :) Pammy used to collect Jade and Agate pebbles off the Port Orford beaches and we included one of her finds in many of our packages. Health and safety reasons stopped her beach collecting...

Since moving to Rockazona we ran into some polished pebbles and we wanted to re-start the old tradition. Folks seem to be enjoying them. Some of them are Petrified Wood, there are some Agates, some Snowflake Obsidian, Turquoise, Jade, Quartz, Tiger-eye . . . who knows what. Eye candy, just something to look at. Just for fun. Thanks, tom! those personal ones you have there are just exquisite!

I think you should definitely do something similar to that, with a bowl kinda shape on the lid. I like having two barrels as well ;)

I don't think I've ever heard that word used by someone who isn't from Louisiana (or a transplant). And you definitely use it properly. Talk about making me homesick.

Yeah you right (another Louisiana colloquialism)!

I too received a luxury stem (just made that up) and cap for participating in the 4/20 contest. Visually the stem held in its cap, the PD and my original Billy Bowl are very pleasing to the eye. A nice tidy setup. The bong just adds to it. I had a realization last night. I have a fairly extensive collection of good vaporizers and it occurred to me that I could easily get rid of all of them except the PD and not feel that I'm missing out on anything. The preset temperature is perfect - it's always just right. With bong vaping, even though more attention, more skill and tighter more focused suction is required for effective production than whip vapes, I find bong vaping with the PD to be more satisfying and enjoyable than with whip vapes which require zero effort or skill.

Yeah, trouble and NOLA go hand-in-hand. :)

I've been to Biloxi more than a few times. I don't think any of those trips were planned more than an hour in advance. Even saw Styx there once. It's the only beach I knew until moving to Oregon in 2002.

First post! Ordered my myrtle PD on Thursday and oh man am I looking forward to it. I know the website says 4-6 weeks before it ships, I was wondering if this is still accurate. I'm only asking this because I noticed a page or two with some old info on the purple days website. Nothing important, just small details hidden in some of the harder-to-find pages of the website.

Another Question I have for Tom is about the wood used. Just started working my way through this thread and waaaayyy back on page 11/12 (respectively) you explained:

Yeah guys I like walnut too. I made a nice walnut and rosewood jewelry box for Pammy many years ago. Almost black. Very pretty, but as I said it was a brittle wood and prone to splitting. This would not be a good trait.
Walnut is irritating to work too, smokes like crazy and the smoke is very bitter. Causes skin irritation too. Waaaa....

and

We do not offer walnut. A general observation on Black Walnut: it is brittle and may not hold up as well as maple. Pretty stuff though.

But I now see it offered on your website, what made you change your mind? Just seems odd to me...

Also on a tolerance break until the PD gets here and then I plan on mostly only vaporizing. Anyone have any suggestions of how much I could vaporize everyday while still maintaining a low tolerance? I imagine a few bowls from the PD everyday would actually effect it that much as they are so small.

Sorry if these have been answered already but this thread is just to damn long to find the answer. I do plan on reading all of this thread, even if it takes me forever.

More questions may come as delve deeper into the thread. Anyways, thanks for reading, I know I wont be disappointed with my purchase.

To that point I had only used BW in 4/4 KD and didn't think it would be well suited to this application. At 12/4 It works better than I anticipated, quite well. However here is some proof of what I said...
2usbc55.jpg

Of course these are rejected blanks, that will yield small useable pieces, for things like Porta-Billys, but it's part of the risk (for us) of buying Walnut.

And it is harsh in the shop, just got done turning a bunch of walnut, not as pleasant as Cherry or Myrtle to work, not as bad as some like Ebony.

here is how i do it.

1. i run my nail over the tin of buzz butter scraping off a thin layer onto the back of my fingernail. then i start with a warmed up and ready to do PD unit.

rub the butter into the unit and spread your thumb around on the wood distributing the oil around until you feel you have lost enough viscosity. then apply more butter and continue working your way around. I like to start a the top where the unit has the most hear and work down. but it's not really that important.

be careful not to get butter on the metal parts of the unit or the sunshine logo on the front. *edit (a lil difficult to clean the gunk out after it's in there)

well, it will just kinda gunk up a little and be difficult to work in evenly. sorry, i didn't mean to warn you as if it would damage it or anything.

Butter the PD as you see fit and as often as you like, just don't get any in the heater. Beyond that I wouldn't give it any further thought or analysis.
After a few butterings the wood begins to darken and even shine a little, it feels better in the hand - it's really good and healthy for the wood.

Other things like length of warranty differences and what type of metal is used in the heat exchanger, price, types of wood, various different leathers used on the bottom..........things like that that I would take more into consideration when trying to decide which one to get.
Well lwien, I finally got to see all 3 of the previously mentioned Log vapes. Here in my community, I saw a side by side of the PD, MZ and WDZ.
They are nice, and I can understand your fondness of your PD- obviously they care alot about their product.
None are quite as heavy duty of a vape producer as my daily "ride", but I am sure I will get one for the bedroom.
If I decide on the PD, I will have to have a friend order and send it to me from outside the state. I will keep thinking. You have been helpful! :peace:

Love the look of the rosewood *thumbs*

I have just come off a roadtrip with the MFLB, and got back to my PD this eve. I had recently been thinking to myself how poor the airflow from my PD hits have been. I realized that I've been going with 'stab' technique for loading for the past 3-5 sessions, and it was time to return to the straw technique for loading.

Wow, what an airflow difference.

If you don't straw-load, you should definitely try it.

Love the container, nice and shallow, looks good too. It's a shame people can no longer get the Billy Bowls, I for one would love a nice shallow dish like that for storage - I bet a lot of people wood. Nice work Tom! The consolation prizes for participation in the contest are very nice as well, over the past year at least two stems have gone AWOL.

Milk,
I'm curious if anyone with a PD has used it for other herbs (not the legal bud stuff, but more along the lines of a drier form of sheisha or similar. Mostly I'm thinking of something with a nice flavor that I can hit on in between to sorta keep me busy and not have me wasting more herb than I need to.

I'm not a smoker but found I enjoy the hooka and would rather try vaping something similar if I can. Just don't want to foul the vaporizor up in the process although it looks like that may not be an issue with the PD and the tube method.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Currently using an MFLB but considering the PD as a future purchase.
