Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

Keep in mind Vrip Family that if you buy a complete VHW 007 kit you're basically getting the Pelican case and custom foam insert for distributor cost --- it's a promotional item for Vrip so we are betting that a customer with a case will share with more future customers-to-be and so are not making a retail margin on it. It's our advertising investment! Even if you buy just the case with the foam insert you'll be paying closer to a wholesale price point than a retail price point. Pelicans are not cheap and it is true there are some other products that are comparable, but from my experience Pelicans are the best of the bunch quality wise over the long haul and the custom foam inserts are really, really nice if you're using a full Vrip kit ---- if you're using a water tool from a different manufacturer/functional artist you can always modify just the water tool part of the custom foam insert as long as the water tool you want to use is not much bigger than the PerK dimension wise and still benefit the precision cut-outs for the bowl, intake, and wand. If you've ever cut "pluck and pull" foam to make your own custom inserts you'll agree it's a royal pain in the @ss! and depending upon how much you value your time at can get expensive rather quickly. I'm not saying this to try to sell more cases we don't make any money on anyway, but rather just to get you thinking about the time value here and to point out we invested in the tooling to make the custom foam inserts becuase they are ALOT NICER and MUCH EASIER than "pluck and pull" type of foam inserts. That said NugHuffer obviously has the "pluck and pull" technique down because the cut-outs look alot cleaner than my early efforts ever did!

Hey guys, haven't been following this thread but have had a vrip for months. The first heater-cover I had - the middle snapped off while I was taking a hit. This doesn't seem right to me as the only force was suction and I've tried emailing the address on their official site for a while but have not been able to evoke a response. Picked it up from a headshop near my old town but I have since moved and cannot visit. When I replaced the glass I was also very surprised to find that no screws or anything were used to mount the ceramic heater to the wand, just wires, lol. Wondering if I'm not trying the appropriate email or maybe if they have a representative browsing this forum..

Not sure what to expect but any help or advice would be appreciated! :)

SacToker your definitely not using the right email for us or you're email is getting spammed or filtered on our ISP's side for some reason. What you're describing is a warranty issue for a bad seal (where glass is "welded" to other glass) and the inner glass that encapsulates the element seperates from the outer cover. If this is going to happen it usually happens during one of two annealings in the kiln that are part of the production process for the glass covers allowing us to simply QC the bad pieces out, but occasionally will happen after the first few uses of the wand. It's easy to tell what the problem is becuase the inner glass cover will seperate in a clean circular release form as opposed to a jagged or cracked type of breakage. We're happy to replace this under warranty for you even if you bought it through a dealer---we support all Vrip Customers regardless of where the product is bought---all we ask is that you send a good picture of the defect/breakage, and in some cases, a proof of purchase date if something looks strange (i.e. someone hitting us up for warranty coverage on a model we haven't sold in two years). And to clarify, the screws that hold the ground plate in place for the original intended use of the housing we use (a heat tool for stained glass art) are intentionally removed so that the glass cover can orient the final element position given that glass will never be absolutely perfectly straight like you can tool metal or mold plastic and because we use a different element than the element that the housing was originally spec'd with for a different application. This is because we want the element to float towards the center as much as possible at the tip rather than lay against the glass where it can cause expansion/contraction cracking that will shorten the life of the piece. This is by design so no worries! Hit us up at info@vriptech.com and please put "FC.com user SacToker" in the subject line so it jumps out in case we have to look through the spam folder to find it. We'll get you sorted and enjoying the goods ASAP!

Hey, that is the same email I attempted to send it to so maybe I'm being filtered? I'll try again with my other email. The break sounds exactly as you describe it so hopefully you can help me get squared away.

Right on SacToker we'll get you dialed in sorry for the miscommunication---our general email account get's slammed and spammed pretty hard so the filters are up at full force---if you get the standard auto-reply (unless emailing Mark direct on his private account where there isn't an auto-reply) it means it went through to us, but it is still possible it got filtered off and could fall through the cracks unintentionally (especially if there are attachments). General rule of thumb is that if you don't get a reply within three days or so please Re-Send the same email and even consider putting "second try" or similar in the subject line so it pops out. Trust me we take pride in taking care of our customers and always strive to support in anyway reasonably possible to be sure they are inhaling the same quality blue vapor we are daily! And that is mostly done by email. White Russian you're going to be stoked...we do have a short back order on the VHWs currently (I know I know we're always playing catch up with this thing) but should be shipping again domestically by end of week and international by our next international shipping day which will be Tues or Wed next week. International orders ship USPS International Priority (so you don't have any customs "brokerage fees" in addition to regular customs fees) and we always put minimum replacment values on the customs docs to help the cause. If you hit us up next week after it ships we should have the tracking # for you to be able to know accurately when it hits your shores.

Just posting this to make sure it gets seen. I am requesting a refund for my online order of the VHW + bowl. I am going out of town for a few weeks, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I took the minor premium in price and went ahead and bought it at my local head shop. Hope there is no issues, as I believe the product has not shipped out yet. Look forward to posting my thoughts and experiences. I have emailed the vrip email address with the order number and same request.

Thanks guys

Shadow Vape, I have a question about my orders?

I have received One and only One email informing me about my order status; that was after my first email on 4/24 requesting an update since no back order notification was sent.

I received a reply on 4/26 from Mark McCoy, stating "The VHWs have been on back order but the shop just informed me that the production run yours will be filled from is going in the kiln today after the intakes are popped (second to last step) and then will be etched later today and if not today will ship tomorrow;"

4/28 My orders have not shipped; per Mark's email my orders were going to ship 4/26-4/27. I send another email requesting the status of my orders.

5/02 No Response; No email; No Shipment.. Orders were placed April 13th, the payment was posted April 18th.. It will be four weeks since my order was made this Friday and I have only received one email..

Can you please tell me what is going on and why the lack of communication has been fierce? My order numbers are 7749 & 7748.

Thanks

Posting a follow up.. Mark replied to my email and is overseeing the status of my order personally and committed to providing me specific details a little later. I appreciate the quick and timely response and professional manner my in which this is being handled. The customer service is outstanding, so people please don't spam their email for silly things that can be found in the provided handbooks, leave that option open to those who need legitimate customer support.

I'm trying to open up my VHW to change the VT1 to make my unit run a little hotter. I can't seem to find the two screws described in stonemonkey's original post about it. I couldn't find any pictures online, so I'm sort of stuck. I popped out the temperature knob and unscrewed the glass cover.

What up Vrip Family? Sorry for the back orders for any of you waiting and waiting.... one of our most important Maestros was sick Th-M last week and threw us off of our current production flow on the VHW glass covers big time because he is the guy that performs some of the most important steps: tooling the inner cover that encapsulates the element, the final seal assembly with the outer cover, and the H torch precision popping of the intake holes. The good news is he's been back on the torches since Tues and is getting it done, and getting another run on the floor done behind it (and hopefully will be on a third run now scheduled since we've sold through the most of the second already!). We really appreciate the business and the patience and any of you who got previous ship dates from me on bad intel that had to be revised hit us up for some swag if we haven't already offered it! We'll get you dialed ASAP and reward you for the patience.

Glad he is feeling better and thanks for keeping us updated! Can't wait to get my new HC! Used my broken VHW today in anticipation and it left me craving more haha! Solo and SSV are doing a good job holding me over though but soon again I will have those tasty clouds. :)

Danoob sounds like you might have gotten it figured out but just in case the screw to adjust VT1 is the white phillips screw inside the royal blue box on the board immediately below where the temp dial to the potentiometer plugs in. After removing the glass cover and the temp dial you really only have to push the board forward enogh to access VT1 through the hole in the housing that the temp dial plugs through, or you can slide it all the way out too....just be very careful when pulling it back in that the board stays lined up within the channels built into the housing that it slides in; if it feels stuck push back out before pulling back in and try to realign it as it should move very easily with little friction. Just use the power cord to gently push/pull on the board to move it and it's always a good idea to turn the VT1 screw all the way counter clockwise until it stops (according to the tech---won't be very far at all) and then go clockwise to just one or max two scribe marks past where it was originally set. And obviously test carefully to be sure you're not wielding a scorching light sabor after the adjustment and be aware that you can always back it off to closer to the OEM setting to cool it down a tad. We don't recommend having the highest temp setting much higher than you need utilizing the technique we teach due to increased stress on the glass, board and element. Although we will honor warranty coverage on units with the adjustments made assuming no obvious signs of abuse (you know who you are LOL!) it should be expected that the elements will have shorter life span if ran hotter than intended --- that said to date there has only been a few of the 3.0s with any warranty issues at all (less than .5%) and most element life spans for even daily drivers that we've already done replacments on have been in the 12-18 month range with at least one office unit going strong (not brand new strong but blue vapor with some slow primers strong) coming up on two years of regular almost daily usage! I don't know what everyone else thinks, but $30 (cost of element replacement service) is a pretty good deal for even six months let alone a year or longer of the finest blue vapor from where I sit!

Right on SacToker I know you're in there!!! Just pulled some Tropical Haze for you and blew it towards Sac LOL! Was just checking some of our distributor's sites to check availability and saw this classic review on VaporStore's site check it: https://www.vaporstore.com/proddetail.php?prod=vriptech-heat-wand-60w-120v&review=all&cat=130

All God's must be Patient! In all seriouslness though we love the direct support but want everyone to know that we're also stoked when purchases are made through our distributors and that you can,in fact, sometimes benefit faster ship times (seriously we're not ALWAYS back ordered). We of course support all of our products regardless of wheter you bought from us or that toothless dude on the corner who smells suspiciously like the strange liquid residue on the night club bathroom floors....yeah....and or any of our actually authorized dealers too.

Knickertoker that's a really nice Sovereignty piece and it appears from the screen shot of your next video you've got a whole BUNCH of nice pieces in the collection heh? I've seen those Aoyue hand held heat tools before and always wondered how well it would work for vaporizing---looks like it works really well just running a bit hot for my tastes. Steinel makes a similar tool, but it's like $500+ and a bit bigger---does use a ceramic encapsulated element though. On their site it's unclear as to exactly what the element material is (says "metal core") and what the lowest air flow is (says 30 l/min max). Can you give us an idea of what the lowest air flow setting is like relative to a Steinel HG2510 for instance (just under 4 CFM) and have you taken the tool apart to see what the element is or does it say in the manual? I'm assuming aluminum is what the heater core is made of which is all good if you're looking to white it out like you did because you can't get full flavor expression that way anyway---but not ideal for milking the "blue" vapor as used---you can probably turn the temp down a notch though (maybe airflow too) and get more aromatic less smoky vapor, but of course this is a matter of personal preference. And the airpath I would be curious to know more about too---any board components or soldered connections in the heated air path? If not you just may be playing with a really cool tool for the high temp hybrid vaporists out there that is relatively undiscovered---probably really good for concentrates too. I would just be a bit careful to confirm the composition of the heater core and be sure the heated air path does not have any solder along the way that can off-gass some nasties. Seriously trick controls and readout though for sure!!! Thanks for sharing and glad the Vrip VCB could be of assistance to the adaptation!

@ShadowVape: ahaha, knew the breeze was something else today. Figured it was one of those warm fronts from the tropics, lol.

I always thought you guys were being a little figurative saying blue vapor. Come to think of it, when my Vrip was working perfectly, I can only recall thick white clouds. I think I might know the hue your talking about though. Can you tell me more about this blue vapor or let me know your technique for hitting it?

And is the one that I see SM use without the silicone ring a different model or is it removable? Talking about the big ring on the heating element.

SacToker,
high?! Hope all is well and that its foggy wherever you're at fellow vrippers! just butting in here as is my wont, but in that pic of the lower bowl on the previous page the screen is not what i would call "correctly positioned" with it just sitting there i can see how easy the screen flips when stirred and how badly that would piss me off! To stop it from flipping you have to force it past that lil ridge its sitting on. It will prob deform the screen slightly but a skewer inserted from the exhaust end of the stem can push it gently up against the underside of the ridge it was sitting on to flatten it out again. I will make a vid when i have access to the technology (my phone's camera is broken) peace.

Right on Family just warming the wand after a dusty day on the mountain---time to clear the dust with some Bio-Dynamic High Elevation BlackBerry K with some SourTsunami oil on top --- Can you say Flavor? I'm crushed after some heavy lifting in the sun, but life could be worst! SacToker glad you enjoyed the tropical breeze the other day LOL! Try to keep it Hazy during the day because there is so much going on just sitting and becoming one with the couch is not an option!!! Tonight though....

By Blue Vapor we're referring to the bluish hue as opposed to white hue (vapor/smoke hybrid really) of well concentrated/condensed, but still clean aromatic vapors. No dark browning of the load carcass (ABV) just a real even light browning---if you can get fully expanded inhalations and the carcass is only lightly browned (assuming a solid amount packed and high oil content herbs used) then you should be getting what we refer to as "Blue" vapor. It takes some patient preheating to get a charge forming in the intake followed by slow primer pulls to milk it thick (as thick as the true clean stuff gets) and follow through primary inhalations. It can still look white or gray to some depending upon the light which really has to be good with a dark background to see the blue hue, but it essentially means you got only oil into vapor, condensed enough of it to see it, and had no scorching (even subtle) of the plant material at all: you got a dead center perfect VRIP! Check either of these vids out if you haven't and with a good monitor you should be able to pick up the blue hue---trust me these where strong deliveries even though you don't see the white clouds---only blue hued exhalations tha dissapate really fast because they are true oil only vapor (even stronger than a white cloud but without the throat thrash or even tickle at all).

Thanks for the input on the screen shaping and positioning VapedCrusader you're spot on to how we usually run them here especially on new or super clean bowls. Once the bowl has been seasoned a bit it is possible (most of the time anyway) to get the screen to sit flat and still on the top of the o-ring groove which allows smaller amounts to be packed if desired. Both positions have their merits: shallower allows less packed, but real even and quicker bowls to go through with less stirring necessary to get it all (just pack more freshies) and deeper bowls allow, well bigger bowls that can be easier to milk really thick if that is your preference, but will require a couple of good stirs to get it all dried out.

Nice video Knickertoker, I've favorited some of your YouTube videos in the past (Mobius Matrix Ion v. Luke Wilson 15-arm bub) and you have a great glass collection. It's good to see you here.

VapedCrusader, if you were talking about my screen, I agree. I haven't really been able to get it down any further than where it is in that pic, but it hasn't been a problem for me yet. I was worried I might break the screen or wouldn't be able to get it out when I needed to if I pushed it down that far. It does stay in place while I'm using the wand though and allows me to pack decent sized loads. Thanks for the advice and I'd like to see your video if/when you make it to see how it's supposed to be in the lower bowl, I'm always down for bigger bowls.

Aha! This is where you go to bitch about the damn screens eh? 15+ years now I've been battling with that and looking for a copy of "Zen & the art of getting your vrip screen to sit perfectly" Hahaha! j/k!

I just dialed in a nice set up for the veggie-oil powered vapor truck; the VHW & a VCBS retrofitted VaporBat mini-water tool. Both fit perfectly (& securely) in the back seat cup-holders (the VHW in a glass). Check it:
