Sorry missed the thing about a tilt, that is not abnormal (none are perfect), the bottom flare that hold everything tight (spring tensioned) is hammered (by me) and can be slightly off of 90 degrees, almost guaranteed slightly off... We use a stainless steel Heat Exchanger... Female Part, Heat Port (sounds as funky), call it what you like, we have always called it a Heat Exchanger as that is what it is and what it does...

Thanks for the response Tom. Mine is probably a little more off than others and at this point I'm fine with it. It certainly doesn't hinder the primary function

I am a bit of perfectionist and if I really did want to attempt to get at 90 degrees at some point in the future, would be it safe if I used the provided tool and hammered the one side to straighten it out, or is this something you do not recommend a layman doing?

The problem is, the tool won't affect the central tube angle. There is a 1" stainless steel sleeve (that you can't see), the top disk of the heat exchanger sits on that, the central tube is held in place by tension between the cross bar and the flair at the bottom of the tube. Unless you change the shape of the flair, down at the bottom of the herat exchanger, the angle of the tube will not change. So, it's not something you can 'correct', from the top. My shop vape (the one I use and tote from room to room) has the same sort of slight tilt., but as you point out it doesn't change function.

Sorry for a second post... but this needs it's own space as I'm trying to contact a couple of the contest winners...

Somewhere in our house is a bag with two T-shirts ( the Third Prize) and the three winning post cards. :uhoh: Uhoh, indeed. Anyway I will find the bag one of these days soon, I'm sure I put it somewhere where it wouldn't get lost...

Anyway the First and Second Prizes are wrapped and ready to ship, along with most of the consolation prizes.

I know who First Prize is and can get the Third Prize address off a previous contest entry of his/her's.
Second Prize. (the dog)

Contact us with your info so we can send your loot. Third Prize will go out when I find that damn bag.

 Cheers to all.

Pammy update: Doing well, stitches out today, feeling some better everyday. A relaxing, restful weekend at her friend's house, away from Purple-Days, two demanding dogs, and me, will do her a lot of good. ;) Thanks for all the kind thoughts, you have all expressed, it means a lot to her.

Hi all, just ordered mine last week I am pretty excited. I have the vaportech which I bought a long time ago but thought this looked too nice to pass up. I have a question, does revolverre make the glass stems still when I go to the etsy site there aren't any. Thanks!

I don't believe revolverre makes those stems anymore. As tom said it just reduces the indestructability (is that a word?) of the vape. However if your lookin for water filtration the pd stem fits directly into a 14mm gong downstem. I also have a question. Can you get wand hash from these vapes? I imagine you save your iso in that purple bottle until there's enuff to evap into hash. 4 weeks in 2mrw and gettin excited.

I believe that he DOES still make them, because there was a much longer time period where there was nothing up there and then he came back and made a bunch of them. I think there will be some up there for sale at some point, you just have to keep watch!

and I have the larger version of those Zigzags in your avatar :) didnt like them for the setup I had so I switched them out with some pink bonnevilles. still saving them for some future setup or a skater friend

I can't speak for Clear Dome, but I'll let you all know as much as I do... Etsy, the site that he was selling through, and the one that is linked, eliminated all 'glass' from the site. Anything that was considered a 'device' is unwelcome there. So, if and when he is up- and running at a different venue I suspect he will let us all know. . . Like any new business he has had some hurdles, from zoning laws to Etsy. But he is a real artist with glass and I'm sure he will re-surface better than ever, he has some very real talent.

Hey guys. I'm able to get the PD to work well with a bong, but I can' get the vapor tubes to give me hardly anything. I know this has been covered before, just hoping for a few quick tips. I think my problem may be draw related.

it could also be the packing, dont rule that out just yet! generally a looser pack is more accepted by a bong.

Your draw/pull should be long and slow, you can vary the speed multiple times in one hit if that helps you, I do that with my vapor bong hits.

Well, what I mean is I can use it with a bong no problem. But using just the vapor stem, sucking through it, I can't get much.

As Nyc diesel said its probably your draw speed. A slower draw= higher temp. Either that or it could be the consistency/ moisture of your bud, although I doubt that would make a difference between a bong and just a regular stem.
Btw nice Nyc its cool to see a girl skater, its all personal preference; I'm savin up for a nice original longboard.

Its funny you say that tom, I actually just bought an inline bubbler from etsy last week. The ppl at etsy probably don't even know what that is so they haven't removed it yet. However I have heard that etsy is cracking down on stuff they know for sure is parephenalia (is that how you spell it?)

I just think those glass stems look amazing... I hope that there will be some available sometime!

I doubt that ClearDome will just up and stop putting them out forever.

thanks wowthisisrandom, I like Original, good brand, only thing I dont like is buying from them you HAVE to get Original trucks :( no choice at all unless you go to Daddies and they only have a couple original decks there.

and yea I forgot to mention that, let your bud dry out well, over night is good, and then grind it up evenly, not too coarse or there wont be enough exposed surface area to get good vapor. you just need to play around with the grinding, packing, and drawing, for a bit and eventually youll be packing up perfect stems in no time!

ThCombustion,
Is the problem that when you don't use the bong it's too hard to get a good draw? In my experience, I'm able to pull much more air through the stem when I'm using a bong than when I'm using just the supplied stem. If this is the case, I'd recommend trying a looser pack.

Personally, I don't much like using my PD with a bong. I think it dilutes the vapor/air ratio too much, but, I do like that it is easier to draw. So, I've found a good compromise which is just putting the PD stem in an ash catcher mouthpiece. The little bit of extra volume in the mouthpiece seems to help me get a much easier draw with minimal reduction in vapor/air ratio. And, the glass stem also cools the vapor, making for a much smoother hit.

Just don't give up. Experiment with your pack. It took me a while to really figure out exactly how tight to pack the stem. And, the PD does have a break-in period, while the wood is drying out, so that could be a factor, too. Just don't give up. Practice makes perfect.

I keep hearing this (much repeated) theory of a "break-in period", here and in other 'log vape' threads. Goes something like this, " And, the PD does have a break-in period, while the wood is drying out..."

People get confused, or don't read, and think all the "log vapes" are made the same. And, what you read about one applies to all. This is not the case. We purchase Kiln Dried (KD) furniture grade lumber, we also perform a second Kiln drying operation after initial boring, one of the reasons it takes me longer to make a Purple-Days. Residual moisture is not a factor with a Purple-Days.

It may be true, as reported here on FC, that other log vapes (one at least) have a "break-in" period, while the partially air dried (PAD) wood they use, looses it's moisture. Not saying it's a bad thing, or a bad product, just saying that there are major differences in our production techniques (and internal designs).

Folks speak of a learning curve with almost all vapes. You learn to control draw speed, grind consistency, load size etc., etc. with continued use. But, because one mfg. (of "log vapes") uses PAD wood, and there is a drying out period ("break-in"), in addition to the learning curve, it is assumed that all "log vapes" have this drying period.

I believe, Todd at Woodeez has stated, that he uses KD wood also, though he probably doesn't do the P-D second Kiln operation (don't know). I have never seen mention of Kiln Dried wood from the other mfg. and I can believe reports on FC, that it takes some time to dry that product out. Don't know that for a fact, just see it reported and repeated often, that's why it gets brought up here...

From unit to unit (all other variables held steady), variations in wood density and body diameter (both affecting R-value) will cause temperature differences.

Beyond that, comparing one product to another, the Purple-Days heat exchanger has considerably more surface area to release heat into the air stream, purposely designed to release more heat, including the extra expense of black oxide coated fins.

Has anyone else that's got order conformation around 3/11 received a tracking number? Just curious. Thanks.

Tom, I can only speak from personal experience, and, kiln-dried or not, my PD definitely runs a little warmer than it did when I first got it. It's not a huge difference, but I noticed it. That is certainly not to say that I wasn't getting vapor from day one. I sure was, just not quite as thick as it got after a few weeks.

no tracking number here, just the email telling me it has shipped.

"Your Order shipped out today, via U.S.P.S. First Class Mail. We sent a Maintenance and Warranty sheet that you need to read. It was wrapped around your Purple-Days. It explains how to maintain your Purple-Days and some Warranty information... "

no mention of a tracking number for me.
