Underdog Log Vapes

OhTheAgony

here for the chicks
I was visiting an old combuster friend and he tried vapor for first time in his life.. He is begging me to hook him up with one.. :)!!! UD FTW !!!

I've actually talked to the owner of a local coffeeshop about giving a little vape-demo there myself. He is interested in quiting combustion himself and one thing led to another. I want something for it if I do it though, even if it's just a tiny bag of weed. These people have made way to much money on me already to be doing this for free

Dave, I'm torn. I think I want both :cuss:

I like the wood coloring better on the smaller one, but prefer the shape of the second one :bang:

Perhaps I should just stop looking at the pictures for a moment

The new core has considerably less draw resistance too I think.. can you tell the difference?

Is the new core the "insulated core" and the classic the "24/7 core"? I currently am in search for a vaporizer for vapor bonging and have some questions.

My preferences are thick smooth drag free clouds for vapor bonging. I dislike long heat up times as I am usually in a time crunch and would like to know the consensus on the heat up time? Would you recommend this vape for my needs?

BTW what are the differences between the UD vs. the HI in performance, operation, ease, and durability?

The new core is the insulated core. The previous generation is referred to as the 24/7 core I think although the new insulated core can also operate 24/7.

The UD is great for vapor bonging and can be left on 24/7 so heat up time is not an issue. For what you describe I would definitely recommend the UD.

The UD and HI are very similar in performance. I would say it would be hard to tell the two apart in a blind folded vapor test as they function pretty much the same. Operating the UD twig is pretty much the same as a HI for vapor bonging. Plug in the stem and insert into the glass... Hard to tell durability wise as the HI is fairly new. Both Dave and Alan go above and beyond to please their customers so customer service is no problem.

Gonzo summed everything up perfectly so I won't muddle things up with an answer of my own. If you have any other questions ask though and I'll do my best to answer them if someone else here doesn't get to it first lol. :peace:

Good to see you back Dave. Wasn't sure if your FC account was sorted out or not so I thought I'd have a go at it lol.

I will have an Email coming your way later tonight, it's been a busy couple of days.

Gonzo,
Awesome work as always Dave! I'm actually digging the unfinished dogs (especially the mahoes), might have to order one in the rough just for something different.

I don't have a HI..yet...but from what I've put together won't the HI run a little hotter than a UD with a standard PS? I figured that's why most people like to use a vv with the HI instead of having to deal with the learning curve of the marshmallow method.

I like the how it'll run a tad hotter so I can use it for concentrates and before I catch some zzz's and then use the UD during the day for midtemp tasty hits, which help keep me functioning during the day :p

This guy did an awesome job explaining his pre-production unit. In his video I see that the power cord comes from the bottom of his unit but I would like one that comes from the side so it can stand on its own. On the site their is not pictures showing if the power cord is plugged into the sides or the bottom. Perhaps all the production models have a side cord as its seems sensible but did not want to make any assumption.

Thanks Dave for the beautiful simple design.

How is the quality of flavor in these unit? I know different types of wood have their own sent but does the type of wood affect flavor in an way?

@EyeFonez - You are right, my Hi runs a little hotter on a standard VV power supply but I never run it on that because I either char or combust every time. Even with concentrates I always use my HI with a VVPS. The beauty of both is that with a VVPS you can run at whatever temp you like.

@NSE - That cord in the bottom was a run of the first model Twigs I think. All the ones I have seen recently are side mount. Flavor is very nice but I have seen some wood species with a more overpowering scent than others.

None, but Dave is really good about helping a person pick the right piece which will suit their needs. He is working on a beauty for me right now which will be a gift for someone.

I again wanted to thank you for your help Gonzo.

What is the difference thick or thin silicon tubing? I believe I read somewhere that the thick has thicker hits while the thin as airier hits. Would the thick be noticeably more restrictive in a bong or should I go with thin?

I am currently about to pull the trigger on the following:
White Ash or Red Oak Twig (SUGGESTIONS? SMELLS?)
Car Adapter
Additional tubing? just do not know how much I should get and in what size (SUGGESTIONS?)

I personally like the thinner wall tubing for using with glass or attaching to anything. For direct draw I prefer the glass stem to the silicone but his is just my preference. Others have commented that they prefer the thick wall tubing for the glass stem but personally I prefer the thin walled. It wouldn't hurt to wait and see which tubing you prefer and order more later.

That Red Oak Twig is a real beauty. If you decide to take the plunge I don't think you'll be disappointed.

@ NSE - The Red Oak doesn't really have a taste/odor to it, at least not one that I can really discern at any rate. While some woods do have a stronger taste/odor than others the closed air path design of the UD minimizes the effects as the only wood that comes in contact with the air is right at the top where the air enters the core and at that point it's not hot yet. As far as tubing goes the standard UD kit comes with a couple thick silicone stems for direct draw or to cut down and use with water pipes, etc and also comes with a glass stem that has the thin silicone as a tip. If/when you order include a note in the comments box and I'd be happy to throw 6" of the thick and thin tubing so you can experiment and compare.

@ SpaceKracker - thanks dude glad you like them. If want to pick up a rough piece sometime let me know and we'll talk wood and whatnot..

@ Gonzo - thanks for helping out around the thread dude, you're like an UD encyclopedia at this point haha. I'll answer you email later, I'm still in the shop working so it'll have to wait until I make it back to the office later if that's cool.

Ok Dogs I'm outa here for bit longer, gotta cut down and store a bunch of bulk lumber before my next shipment comes in tomorrow morning. Band saw don't fail me now (unlike last time)! :argh:

Abysmal Vapor

Supersniffer 2000 - robot fart detection device
First I wanna announce that the coupon code "For Abysmal " is expired and i want to thank Dave for letting it on for a whole week which played a huge role in my quest for freedom. <3 I got cashed out the first part of the money gathered in the UD fund tomorrow i am going to pay first half of (needed amout )to the lawyer  . There is more left to gather but FC people gave me hope and now with Andy and Rick jumping in + the continuing UD fund raise sale i feel even more backed up and stronger.
Hey guys few other things happend around here.. some good some bad.
My friend made had chosen the Red Bishop so one more Bulgarian UD fan out there, his English is very bad so he probably won't be joining the forum .. but i promise to snatch photos once its arrives.
My UD kicked the bucket.. Its body is perserved but the cause of dead was internal . Its heart just gave up cuz of too much love and hard service given , i hope one day it gets re-animated of Dave's hands .
Dave can't stop being nicer he offered me to pick up a "replacement" dog and he will send it with my friends order!!!

With my carbon I'm going to need a bunch of tubing and screens :)

Don't let me forget to order those before you ship that!

Hey darkrom did the carbon twig project worked out in the end ?

Nah too tight of an area to wrap I think is what it came down too. A curved wrap in a small area. I've even asked someone who wrapped my interior car trim if he'd do it, he said no chance, so apparently it was quite a difficult thing to overlay. A bit of a crazy ambitious project to even suggest really. I still applaud Dave for giving it an effort with materials that he doesn't even work with lol. I don't really mind honestly the wooden designs really grew on me. Now I can really appreciate woodworking and I love looking at my King's Jester and my twig. I'd certainly buy a carbon fiber twig, but I don't really care if such a thing never exists. I'm very happy with my current setup finally :) So happy in fact that I'm looking to expand with some nice glass bubbler perhaps, but its going to have to wait. Too broke to start down that road.

I just got everything. I don't have time to test it yet because I have to go to a doctors appointment. My first impression is that everything looks amazing. It it works half as good as it looks I will be thrilled.

@ Slightly Medicated - awesome dude, looking forward to seeing what you think after you get to walk the Dogs. :brow:

Wow, my wood shipment just arrived.. I forgot how much was coming lol.

Just to thoroughly temp you all here is what came in today: a bunch more Silver Maple, Apricot, Purpleheart, Canarywood, Ambrosia Maple, Bocote, Zebrawood, Figured Western Maple, East Indian Rosewood, Honduras Rosewood, Caribbean Rosewood, Yucatan Rosewood, more Goncalo Alves (AKA Tigerwood), and a little bit of B&W Ebony. Yikes.. now to find a place to store this stuff, running out of space around here. :o

I've got another (smaller) shipment coming in Friday or Saturday so I best get on it. Also have a shipment of Blue Mahoe coming in from Puerto Rico next week or the week after. I need a bigger shop.

You could just use some of it to build yourself the most beautiful storage shed EVER :brow:

Ab, sorry to hear about your UD dude. Lets talk about getting it back to Dave so he can try to reanimate it.

@Abysmal Vapor

I truly hope that you are freed for the ridiculous charges. I feel that you should use your experience to educate those within your country and bring changes to practices. Starting with the most important. Fight for non violence civil solutions between Law enforcement and citizens. Fight for equality. Fight for reason. Fight for knowledge. Once you have enlightened the minds of powerful they shall see reasoning behind laws and change for the better.

I know its a big task to do oneself. But I hope what this community provided you was more than money but LOVE, support, and care for one another. I do not know you but I know your hardships and injustice. Its important to Love your neighbor like your loved ones.

One Love,

Sincerely NSE

Thanks for those that helped. I hope the best for this brother of mine. Peace n Pot
