Discontinued ThermoVape Revolution for concentrates

Same thing has happened to me once or twice. I also think it's an issue of over-filling, aka user error. If it keeps happening, or happens under different circumstances, I'd be concerned though. IIRC others in this same thread have had similar over-filling experiences with the standard Rev as well... Ya just can't treat these guys like an Omi cart - they're a whole different beast.

I agree, completely. That's the way it works for me, too. Less is more.

Then again, from time to time, I think about that fellow who ran up to a gram at once? He too seemed happy with performance? One tough (and it seems versatile) little critter. Simple, yet works so well.

I've been getting ready to clean the dart for a day. Turned out it had enough stuff in there to last throughout yesterday; had a total of 3-4 sessions.
A gram seems like too much though... And wouldn't the taste be a bit off?

I believe that was Xchadb, I think he only did the gram test once to see if it would work, and has mentioned a few times now that it was not something he'd recommend doing again, it was more of an experiment to see what the Rev could handle, and the end result was it worked for a bit, but was not really effective.

Why does my Ultra's body tarnish faster than the inner battery tube or the head (& the revolution or the evolution)? Can I get a body made of the same aluminum as those?

Yes, I think that's the guy. For sure he didn't load it with a gram routinely, but he put a HUGE load in none the less. Would take a torch to it to keep it feeding IIRC? Yeah, it never caught on, point is it didn't kill the unit.

Kind of the concentrate version of 'down to stems and seeds?'.

Yeah, I'm surprised it fit, really. He didn't load that much but did do a fair fraction of a gram IIRC. Hey, he's paying for it, it's his to do with as he wants. Nice to know the unit is up to it even if I'm not.....

It's no doubt is the same material. 6061 unless I miss my bet. The difference I bet is the finish (what you're really looking at, you can't see the Aluminum under the Nickle. My guess is this is a newish unit? It should even out over time. Otherwise, I suspect a part from a different run would be different? It might also have to do with oils and the like from your hands??

I's shoot TV an email and get their thoughts on the matter if it bothers you.....but I seriously doubt it's an aluminum alloy issue.

Good luck

It looks cnc'd so I think you're probably right that it's aluminum but I'm hoping it's a different grade or something. From brand new in the tube the body looked darker and as I used it the head and inner tube stayed bright and shiny even though I had my hands all over them as well. The body got almost black on the back where my hands were. I used a silver polish cloth on it but I'll take a picture in a few days or so when it gets noticeable...

I've been to the factory. They buy stock in ten foot 'sticks' to feed to one of three state of the art CNC machines (Swiss?). They only stock a few sizes, I'm sure the battery tube, sleeve, adapter, thermal core for T1 (body, core and cap) come from the same stock. Given the threads and thin profiles I'm pretty sure it's 6061 but the exact alloy doesn't matter since it's the same. And even if it's not, the Nickle plate is all you see.

BTW, they have 3 of those machines (some can only do the small parts like mouthpieces, switch parts and so on). It may take like 26 pieces to make a unit, but those machines turn out a part a minute give or take. There are buckets of parts, sometimes well over a thousand, all around. Being filled up, parts being cleaned, inspected, sent out for plating and so on. Structured confusion, it only looks like chaos.

They make a lot of vapes in that little shop. And an even bigger pile of e-cig stuff (I think).

Given the localized nature, I'm wondering if the oxide is caused by skin oils? Or at least helped along.

Good luck.

I'm sure it's my hands that cause it but like I said, it only seems to affect the outer body even though I made a point to get sweaty hands everywhere (lol)

So if there is no exposed bare aluminum, maybe what I'm noticing is a difference in nickel platings?

Any tarnish cleans up easily with Vinegar (ascetic acid). Simply solution, better living through chemistry.

Yeah, a silver polishing cloth cleaned it up pretty well too. I'll see if vinegar is quicker or easier next time.

I just notice that the finish on my revolution, inner battery tube, and top switch part of my ultra is completely un-tarnishable. Since I bought the ultra mainly for it's aesthetic appeal, I wouldn't mind paying a bit for a custom body in that finish if you have the machines to do so at your shop...

So I finally gave in to my vape acquisition syndrome and purchased a TV Evo, a Rev DART and a smooth-flow. Around how many hits fits into the DART? Should I just load one at a time, or can I put multiple in? For those with a smooth-flow and a DART does the smooth-flow make much of a difference?

The dart is a load as you go, but you should get several good hits from a load depending on how much you put in there. Since it has a built in dabber, you just dab a BB size amount of oil, and stick it in, and vape.

I load about 50 mg at a time (1/20 of a gram), a 'paper match head' size bit. I expect 5 or 6 heavy hits before taper off and recharge. Too much slows it down actually. It also needs to have maybe 150 mg loaded from dry to 'get there', so add a bit more after cleaning and be ready to add yet more soon.

Yes, in my testing the filter makes a very substantial difference. It covers up what few clues the device gives as to just how much vapor it being delivered. This can lead to dangerous and embarrassing overload on the user end. I suggest you leave it off until you've got the rest sorted out. It will make it all the sweeter, but it can make learning tough. And painful. Trust me on this point?

Well, my shipping confirmation was received oddly enough at 11:11P.M last night... hah, I dont believe I have ever received a shipping email at that time of night and on a Sunday? haha. Anticipation is mounting already! hah. I guess I will do a run of either a OG x Sour Diesel, or Jack Herer for the DART soon. Hmmmm, which one to do? hah. Well I will be posting a review of the DART and the Evo (in its thread) as soon as they arrive which I imagine will be Wednesday. So far I can say Thermovape has provided me with a highly pleasant experience and after reading the previous few pages I believe I am in for an awesome experience compared to my Omi V1.

I Vapes Hard
After reading this thread for days, i went ahead and ordered my TV Rev today and cant wait for it to come. Went with the rev rather than the dart because i rarely get oil or sticky concentrates and usually get dry/crumbly/powdery concentrates. I thought of a dart just to avoid the loading window but if i have not sticky wax im not sure if it would work. I decicded against the omi cause i dont want to have to melt my wax in and i like to switch concentrates frequently so a whole gram in didnt appeal to me. Just wondering about how many hits can u get off a max load in the rev? Can u load it up and it goes for a few sessions? Id like to load it up andbe good for a lil bit at least.

First off, congrats. IMO you're gonna love it, it sounds like you've thought it through well to meet your specific needs. I too think the window gives better access for 'point loading' such concentrates. It also is the call for bubble I think since you can get in to stir it that way. If you pull the top, you can even get light from above as you do so.

While you can load a fair bit, I think in general guys make a mistake loading more than about 1/10 of a gram at once. It makes it slow to get into action and can make it harder to draw. What I did when I was running some tests on some lovely Sour Diesel wax that was real dry and crumbly was to roll up little BB size balls of the stuff and just toss one through the window every 6 or 8 hits and vape on. I also carried a small piece of cotton (like tee shirt material) to wipe up any wax that got to the outside in the process.

I found sometimes shifting concentrates, which I like to do, can be a problem going from 'heavy' to 'light' tastes. Like tasting wine almost. The great news is it's so easy to make squeaky clean. I put a sauce pan on the stove, put the unit in a small vial of ISO (no mouthpiece, but both lower section) for a few minutes in the ultrasonic sink (or just shake it a bit to swish the solvent through). Then into the pan of now boiling water. Start the little turbo oven at 200. After maybe five minutes of boil, the oven is ready, a rinse to cool the parts so I can put them on a bit of foil in the oven then clean the pan (all sorts of stuff is stuck to the walls like a bathtub ring.....

A cup of tea later it's dry and ready to go. I fish them off with a fork and put them on a metal pan for conduction cooling to make them safe in a short time. It takes maybe 100 mg to get it going, be ready to top it up early the first round.

You can get a lot, recently I have been experimenting with put larger doses for multiple sessions. I think .2 grams of quality oil would work great. Some of it melts into the porous ceramic and some is ontop of it but the vapor to air is a lot more thicker than having super small loads. I personally wish i purchased the DART instead because of the sticky window and the availability of quality oils but you can still use the dart in the same manner as the side windowed Rev but insert your concentrates from the top. Either way I am completely content with the Revolution but would be happier with the dart. I hope you enjoy your Rev and welcome to the club ;)

^^^thanks for the replies guys. Helps reassure me that i made a good decision. So you can just drop in balls of wax from the top with the dart? It doesnt need to be stuck to the little dabber of the dart? As much as I love buying vapes, I also have the same feeling for vape accessories, so I think ill pick up a dart anyway or maybe a moisture conditioner and glass adapter... Maybe all 3!

You're welcome, yes, no, all three will make you a complete man. Anything less is less.

How'd I do?

I find that it works better if you can get it on the little dabber... I used to drop pieces of wax in there, but it gets stuck along the walls or around the middle. You can use a paper clip to clean the walls though; the dabber only goes so far. The Dart and the Pure-Flow Filter are great together; anyone would be satisfied with both.

Rollings them into little BB sized balls is a great idea. I'm going to start doing that with the dart...

I did just that a few hours ago and had wax was all over my thumbs and such. I use the dabber method by heating the tip and dripping it on top. I am going to experiment freezing the oil once on the tip of the dabber to make it less sticky and so its easier to drop into the center without all the mess.

That's usually what I do, too, but I get excited and sloppy and start sticking in my dart too deep and get wax all over the little holes. That, and, I have a shaky hand sometimes, so the wax falls on its cosmic journey to the bottom-part (any other name for this part?) That's why the wax bb's seemed perfect... Thanks for the advice though. I'll try to "pre-mold" in the container with the dart and not touch it a lot.

Hmm... do you think freezing crumbly waxes make it easier to mold them into bb's..?
