Arizer Solo

Kevin doesn't know anything ime. After a lot of pushing and frustration I finally got to email with Arizers CO Steve a while back (I think it was around December 2011, I've reported about it in this thread when it was actual if anyone feels like looking it up). He was a little more forthcoming and knowledgeable than Kevin, but there was still a lot of denial and secrecy going on at the time about the differences between serial numbers and the materials used. Even though I must say that he came through for me on several levels that I wouldn't expected him to as well.

I don't know what's up with this company, but I have given up trying to find out. After testing a few newer Solo's with the Stainless Steel bowl I decided it wasn't for me anyways. I'm still happy with my old ceramic M102 despite the chipping and will use it till it dies, but otherwise I'm basically done with Arizer and this product.

About the loose stems; they all vary in size a bit because they are handmade. I even had one that wouldn't go in at all because it was so thick. I don't really have a preference for tight or loose myself, they both have their advantages I guess. I do have two normal functioning hands though, I can imagine it's a little bit different for you.

As a long time Arizer supporter I just find it very strange that the Rockwise site is gone and the Arizer site is showing solo's but only selling Q's and V towers . I wish they would get this solo thing right . Is consistency really that hard to accomplish in the manufacturing process ? Not in my world .

This should not be an excuse for a product that is sold at more than 200$. If it is loose to the point where it falls off with no help other than gravity, it should be returned. We are not talking about an acrylic stem that does not get hot or does not break.

If they are still behind the handmade excuse, the least they could be is replace it for free.

That said, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the M106 and M107 corrected regarding the loose stem issue?

Oh yeah, it was meant as an explanation, not an excuse. I actually received 2 new stems for free when I reported my to thick stem to Vaposhop, without having to send in the thick one.

And yeah, they have tried to fix it with a modification on the M106 and later models. Or actually on some of the M105 models already even, I had an M105 that already had the thicker ring above the heating chamber.

Now I see that the company is not "patient friendly", and unless there is a change in their willingness to discuss my issues, I will be warning patients that I come in contact with against using Arizer products.
thanks for doing youre bit Vito.I m sure you have done everything you can.It does leave a stale taste in our mouths to hear how you have been treated.I m sure it would be in their interests to clear this up politely asap.

from what I can gather all the issues that the solo suffered pre M104 have been sorted out now.Only the odd report of high pitched squeal/whine noise coming from the units electronics remain.smells loose stems and of course the ceramic chipping issue have all been put to rest.

Re the stems .Ive bought 4 of the new 4 hole stems and they are all tight.they are even tighter in the older m102-m104 models but they go in.

they all vary in size a bit because they are handmade. This should not be an excuse for a product that is sold at more than 200$
totally agree. That wont stand up in court if a patient suffers third degree burns.I hope it never happens touch wood.
Oh well:horse:

well be careful Vito , make sure you have a firebucket on stand by.
great video by the way.It definitely gets the message out there.

I don't know bout you guys but I find it much more comfortable to hold it like this... No problem with a loose stem this way! What arizer says about loose stems is not completely crazy you know... They might made them fit better in latest models to address public cries  but I am sure the airflow can be better with a looser fit, it just makes sense.

when I am done hitting, I just remove the solo as it is (upside down) and no herb goes in the ss bowl either...

PS: slow hitting the solo is the shit! :D

edit: still can't post a damn photo... :bang:

in my experience the stems are loose in the 107

Same here, tight at first but eventually loose.

Anyone listen to the Dopefiend's podcast on the Solo? He said that ONE bowl lasted him 3 full 12 min. cycles? I don't understand that, even simply based just on conduction alone. I know he didn't grind (btw dope, i find you get much better results by grinding well, but not too fine) but even still.

vape4life,
Yea I don't get it either. I have some really good ass herb's and it is like 6-8 big rippers till its done. I just think they are taking those big rippers in smaller hits to drag them out longer.

3 - 12 mins for one stem is normal for me sometime I can go 4 times at it, as long as good quality herbs are being used . Ist sesh@#3 setting , 2nd sesh@#5 setting , 3rd sesh@#7 setting . If I can stretch it to 4 sessions on 1 stem then the settings I use are 3,4,5,7 or 2,3,5,7 depending on sativa or indica . But really I wouldn't call them 12 min sessions because 2 of those mins is heat up time so really they are 10 min sessions . Still , its the way to stretch the herb . But on the same note Ive easily pooched a stem (with help of a bubbler) in one session on 7 . It really comes down to using a good herb that is bone dry and crumbled fine . At lil bit of kief never hurts to extend the time of your stem either but you get my point .

Samsquanch,
I have some bomb ass GDP organically grown right in cali. So I doubt your bud is 5x better then mine. How about make a video of your doing this?

Even when it's 2 of us hauling on the solo , if its good shit you can get 3 sessions easy , no bs , just as long as you use good natural shit , not hydroponics , grown proper , dried and cured properly .

BTW I'm using an M102 ceramic solo , what are you using ?

Nature of the beast , but this unit rocks tho . Part of the extended sessions could be due to using 2 hole stems but who knows . Sometimes when you get middle to crap herb you can barely get 1 sesion

Yeah? The old two hole stems I was using in my M103 were very loose and I dropped a few myself just like Vito.I upgraded to the new straight 4 hole stem when they came out. they were a lot tighter and safer.

I bought and returned an M105 because the stems just fell out too easy.

thanks Jamb.were there any comms with arizer during the swap over or was youre unit replaced no questions asked?

Vito in the UK there is the consumer sales of good act section 14.1 and 2 states that the item purchased has to be fit for the purpose and of merchantable quality. look into what the statutary consumer laws are in Canada.i m sure you are protected under law from risk of injury from hot loose parts.anyone from canada know their consumer laws? .

whatever about the nature of this beast and its use.Hot stems are an accident waiting to happen.

I had purchased the M105 through Amazon, and was able to return it no questions, aside from the standard return form you have to fill out on the website to get the process going.

Well. I sure am appreciative of all your support.
I contacted Arizer, and "Kevin" responded to me... with what I now consider "Arizer Double Talk".
He ignored the chipping questions, and explained the wobble as a "bonus feature", when he said:
" looser is better than tighter" and sighted the reason as better airflow. He went on to say that the stem is supposed to easily fall out if turned upside down. My problem is that it occasionally falls out when it is not upside down! (I do confess to partial paralysis, and difficulty moving left hand)Regardless, I intend fully to have fun playing with the unit, and letting folks see it.It is Arizer's best product in spite of the issues that trouble me!

PS-Battery life is good...at level 6.... I get 6 or 7 full sessions
Hi there. Have you ever tried a silicone ring in between the chamber and the Solo top lid?? It really works for me. Heats faster and better. Good luck.

Hey tiniest,

I read what you did previously and was a bit skeptical because I've tried inserting between 1 and 5 perfectly fitting screens in the chamber to lift up the glass a bit and hopefully produce a better draw. What happened was that the herb facing the screens wouldn't vape as well. If your creation solves this, I'll take one! I'll PM you now and hopefully you accept PayPal.
Try to search my mods. I copycat Tintest. They work great with my Solos 106&7. Domed SS screen and silicone ring. But I think I'm getting Tintest disks as well. I always like to try cheap mods.
