Just curious how long do these red batteries last before recharging? it seems less than 20 minutes for me. Also I heard some crackling going on when heating up a cartridge, but have .3 left in the cart. Does the crackle mean it's not hitting the middle and I need to refill? thanks everyone.

Battery life is controlled by many factors like voltage, ohms, how many carts your running etc and you didn't specify any of that so no one can respond in a meaningful way. give us more info.

Crackling is caused by a. either improperly purged oil or b. moisture in the oil.

I have found as carts get low (with the new drip tips) its easy for saliva to get down into the tank and provide some popping. So if the concentrate was not popping all along its probably just moisture in your wax. It happens here on a regular basis. If it was popping before that then you might have a poorly purged wax.

Sorry, I can't agree, this is not a 'the end justifies the means' moment. This is 'loose cannon' action. Exceeding one's authority and possibly making a difficult (and expensive) research project invalid. It was not his job to do so it seems.

I know nothing of the details, of course, but if he did cleanly violate policy (which it seems) IMO his in line for time on the beach or being made available to the industry.....not knighthood.

Discipline is key in such cases, it's the company's eggs in the basket, not yours. Period. You take the man's money, you ride for the brand.

Yeah maybe my little one-liner was a bit ambiguous but I agree as well, it easily could have been a very bad decision and the employee deserves a talking-to.

I'm just saying that in the grand scheme of things, it could have gone a lot worse than having an independent employee and an excess of pre-oxidized carts.

If it were me I wouldn't fire the guy, one of those "It was a mistake but no harm done so this is your one warning" kind of moments...

For sure the employee could have caused more damage, hardly a defense. I'm not sure how you asses the cost of this. Lost stock, PR, and a lot of factors play into it. More importantly IMO it's not the thing an professional engineer does. It sounds like this guy works without direct supervision which raises the odds.

It's a personnel matter, it's G's call for sure, we're speaking in the general case I think? He's the guy with the important relationship here. It's his company and customer base that's at risk. His family's future that's on the line, not the engineers.

So we're pretty close on this. From what I know, I'd be inclined to ignore the 'you got away with it this time' part (not even a known at this point, it's still not resolved, right?). I wouldn't fire the guy if things were otherwise OK and I still had confidence in him but he'd get some 'time on the beach' (unpaid time off) to think it over, rewrite his resume and start his job search if he didn't want to obey the rules I suspect? This is grossly unprofessional, such actions expose the company to all sorts of risks (suits can come from most any direction and 'I lost control of my engineer' will cost G his house and kids college as likely as not when the jury hears it). It is by no means casual. In an engineering department with proper management this sort of stuff doesn't happen without the right number of signatures for good reasons. In a 'one man engineering department' the wrong one man could spell the end. G has to be able to trust this guy in the future, his corporate structure won't allow him to supervise.

Make no mistake about it, 'the buck' stops with G. He's ultimately responsible for everything done by THC on his behalf, he's the guy that gets served with the long papers if it goes south. He knows that and accepts the responsibility.

Good luck to G on this. I see the stakes as very high, this is not a good thing even if it worked out perfectly.

the engineer got a stern warning and he understands, his job is to make my designs happen, not place them into production.

If I want to upgrade my unit to the v2 do I have to send in a cart? I currently don't have any which would be a problem hah

just the 2 batteries, charger, and original receipt of purchase and receipt for the upgrade go into your package, but I am not sure the V2 upgrade is still active, better check D-9 website. They do not want carts.

**looks like the v2 upgrade is still on the site, I thought I read yesterday that the v2 upgrade was going to be ending. Hope you can get in on time.

I can confirm this, you'll probably have it in the next day or two. My replacement stuff usually took about 3-6 business days but I'm in Canada.

Looks like I may be purchasing a v2 soon, whenever the Universe is available for pre-order I will be running straight to D9V and purchasing both. (I'll probably end up with the nail cart and a new pack of regular carts also haha). Any news on if the colored options of v2 will be available anytime in the near future? That would be awesome! Can't wait for the Universe to come out!

i feel like we need a cheat sheet to just keep up w/ all the products and their general ETA's.
(nothin' to hold the "G"uys to, just a general idea, barring unforseen future events)
can't remember if he mentioned how soon those or the IRIS or the nail carts, or the colored v2s,
or the v3 top. or the universe, or the 8. or the passthrough.
speaking of which iirc, when the hammer was first introduced it was said it would have the
passthrough in the package, but i didn't see it in the pics. is this still true. am i hallucinating...

I may be wrong but isn't everything besides the v3 carts coming out in May?
