Gear Does your Ti nail get discolored?

Hi all, I've been lurking on the forums for a while and lately I've come to an issue I can't find answers about. I just got a Ti nail on ebay for $36 as opposed to $60+ and when I heat it up it's been changing colors, getting dark blue on the spots I hold the torch, discolored all around, etc. Is this normal? I've seen a few Ti nail videos and they don't look to be changing colors like mine is. Just want to make sure I didn't get ripped off. I'd chalk it up as a learning experience though

i have Ti pad, and it is all one colour there is not significant discoloration on the spots where i heat it opposed to the rest of the pad.

there is residue on the other side where i apply the dabs... but that's different to what you are talking about i think.

When my nails are new I experience this, it seems normal. Although ill find out for sure when my new style of nail comes!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, just that it's brand new and this is going to happen when I heat it up for the first time. Now that I know it's not lead or mercury or adamantium causing this, I'm gonna go take a dab!

Thunderclees,
I also had this same problem but it was with a Highly Educated TI nail. I honestly still think something is wrong with it. I heat it up and it just doesn't look right not to mention it often makes the oils taste much different than the other nail I have does.

Explain please; what colors did it change? Why didn't it look right? Did it heat up faster or slower?how did it taste different? This ismy first nail so I'm trying to figure stuff out

Thunderclees,
On the color front i'm not so sure maybe like a dark blue or something at first. I say it didn't look right because a friend of mine purchased one before I did and mine was completely different, I realize I had the 18mm one but still something seemed off. It took longer to heat up at first obviously but it left this like grey residue inside of the tube after dabbing. I called up ALT and everything because I honestly felt like I received a "bad" nail or something

That's completely normal. The first couple times you use your nail its going to change colors, and as you gradually dab more on it, introducing the substance to the nail, it creates a resin build up on the nail. The more you use the nail the more "seasoned" it will get. It's going to taste like poop your first couple dabs so just heat it up and throw some reclaim on there so you don't waste any delicious dabs
