I like your color choices. I don't care for the 'every color in the rainbow' look either, and unfortunately, that's mostly what they've been putting out, especially with knobs. Mine had 3 shades of blue, some white, and yellow and orange. It would have been fine without the orange and yellow. The heater cover didn't go well with the knob either.

I kept checking the site until I found a mouthpiece I liked (blue), then later a knob and ordered a heater cover to blend in. They've got a couple of new glass guys and they're putting some interesting stuff on the site now-more two toned looks.

I hope you get the colors you want. Special orders have been a problem for quite a few buyers. 7th Floor's execution, service wise, needs improvement. They're hit and miss with email too. I've had unanswered emails and have heard others complain of it too. Their intentions are good as far as providing quality service, but they've got a ways to go.

You should get an email when they ship. If I were you I'd call 'em tomorrow and check on the order. If they haven't shipped it may be a good sign that they're trying to get you the colors you want. If they haven't matched up your color request with your order, you may have a chance to get it straight over the phone.

Your PD and new SSV should get along fine. No reports of sibling rivalry so far. And it's not a collection if you use 'em. Just essential vaping tools. ;)

Righteous max, thanks for all of the help dude. Yes, I'm VERY much of the "simpler is better" mindset when it comes to aesthetics (unless we're talking about visual arts...then I'm very much all over the map ). Therefore I must also admit that the majority of the standard knobs 7th Floor puts out really don't appeal to me either. What's wrong with two-tone, or with something simple, classic and stylish? Does it REALLY need to have umpteen colors, fuming, dots, twists turns and etcetera? I know some people like that, but not all pot heads are mesmerized by "a multitude of pretty, swirly colors". Who knows, you and I may really be in the minority here. Still, I am keeping my fingers crossed that something simple and with a few matching colors will show up on my doorstep. Oh, and I have noticed the new pieces (knobs) they've been putting up: I've been seeing a lot more custom knobs that look good to me these days. I'm actually thinking that I'll be watching that page closely for some time. If I do decide that custom pieces are worth it, I'll surely be waiting to find a good temperature knob first...and then I could go on to match up other stuff from there.

All of that being said, I really do understand where they're coming from. It's tough because they advertise/promote the customization aspect of their vape, and in fact they sort of flaunt it, mind that I don't say that with any accusatory undertones...for they also admit outright that "standard" units (not a unit with true custom commissioned pieces) don't always turn out the way one might envision. They admit that their glass is pre-blown (in house though, if I understand correctly) and that basically all they're doing is trying to pull a piece out of a huge collection of pre-made knobs etc. which generally matches what a given customer has asked for. Then they say they will try to match the heater cover to this as best as possible. That's really far from a guarantee that this unit is going to be 100% the way my little mind envisions it. I'm okay with that, especially because they ARE up front about this and although the teminology of "fully customizable" is a little fuzzy, they explain themselves well enough to create a realistic expectation, and I suppose that's all one can ask for.

Yes, I have also sort of heard (through the virtual grape-vine) that 7th Floor can be tardy with returning e-mails, or might sometimes miss them altogether. I will try them again tomorrow and hope that I can make contact with someone, but yeah I'll take your advice and just give them a call instead of sending another letter. To be honest, I had the same thing happen with Arizer a while back, and they still haven't got back to me. Not that I've tried contacting them again, but it just goes to show that yes, these dudes are no doubt trying very hard to provide good service, but a small staff can always be bulldozed by too much activity. I know that VERY well from personal experience...so let's not expect the world from companies like 7th Floor or Arizer, I guess: only honest effort and service, and top quality vaporizing! Both do seem to provide those in droves! Anyways...I'm not concearned or anything, just curious and a mite impatient. Once again, I think I've been spoiled by Tom and Pammy: talking with them was nothing like doing a "business transaction", more like friendly banter with old friends. Got my expectations up too high there, Tommy boy. Now I've got to deal with the business world all over again! Yaaaaargh! Suppose it's not REALLY your fault, but you've got to blame somebody, you know (I mean...personal responsibility? Pffft!)

Hahaha "It's not a collection if you use 'em". Well max, isn't that the truth. Use them I shall, and I can't wait!

Hear me, spyder? "Wait until you try it..." but I can't, I just can't! Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to "settle" for the PD right now ;). *Edit: "settle" is apparently equivalent to "get so blasted you can barely see"

Oh yes, and just because I find this sort of hilarious...

So far I've purchased two quality vapes. One of which was a special, custom unit (Tea Tree PD) along with the full set of goodies, and the other the SSV with an extra whip, aroma top, screens, etc., etc. All together, I've spent $487.87 CAD. I still plan on getting a VaporGenie (the "Brown Exotic" model, unless someone can convince me...in the appropriate thread of course...why I should opt for the standard model instead...I don't know a lot about this vape and am basically just making that decision based on aesthetics) for "true" portability, and because I love my PD far too much to let it leave the house...ever.
So, that, including shipping, would be $65. Altogether, this works out to about $557.00 (when using the current exchange rate to calculate the cost of the VG in CAD). After that I could buy (although I really have no intention of seeking out a bag unit at ANY time soon...not my favorite method of delivery :/) HerbalAire, and I'd be hitting around $830, including delivery etc. So, for four vastly different vapes:

- A deluxe, at home, electric, temp-controlled, luxury "pipe" style direct draw system (PD), which is the most intuitive, simple and enjoyable "smoking" device I've used to date.
- A top of the line, glass on glass whip unit with a solid, dependable ceramic heater, etc. (SSV)
- A true quality portable vape, which apparently works surprisingly well? (VG)
- And a quality, efficient bag unit which preforms "on par or better" with the Volcano (Herbo). That statement is obviously in reference to claims made by HerbalAire, and claims I've heard perpetuated around the net. Certainly not anything that's been verified by yours truly.

All of that, including all the extras...well, it comes to a little over what it would have cost me to get a Volcano Digit within Canada. I don't know if it could be done cheaper (probably), but I did a lot of pricing a few moths back and consistently I was seeing anywhere from 650 CAD (Volc. Classic) to 800 CAD (Volc. Digit) to get one delivered to my location.

I KNOW people love their 'canos and I am really not knocking them...I KNOW they work, and work well :ko:! But I couldn't resist...that's just too crazy! Price DOES count for something, in the end. Gooooo variety!

Oh yes, and I DID use the %10 off coupon, courtesy of mr GLX. Thanks Tokin, your videos were actually a huge contributing factor towards getting me interested in vaporizing again, so DOUBLE thank you man! I know you're out there! Come to think of it, I'm sure by now those videos have spread far and wide, and touched many people...and I know you've been all over the net spreading the word as well. So thanks dude, and it looks like you picked a good vaporizer to stand behind! Can't wait to "verify" that little fact myself! :ko:

Edit: I've done some more searching and it actually looks like Volcano's are listed a little cheaper than they were a few months ago. Either that or my brain is bullshitting me about what I remember, which is always possible. I'm still seeing around 700 - 735ish CAD for a new Volcano Digit (which also doesn't include any type of substantial warranty, I believe? Somebody please correct me if that's totally off. From what I've been able to find though, it seems like a multiple year warranty is extra). Still, once you factor in shipping, it's going to be close to that 800 mark, if not above it. I see lower prices listed outside of Canada, but I would be very fearful of ordering something this big and expensive across border lines...my experience tells me it would get nailed with duties. Any Canadian Volcano owners who might know otherwise, again, please correct me if that's misleading... But at any rate, you still have to factor in exchanges and shipping and all that crap. Once more...gooooo variety! Gooooooooo SSV!

Edit to the Edit: Sorry if this feels like needless (redundant and out of place, at least) Volcano bashing, but the truth is we could say this about MANY vaporizers, and even whole families of vaporizers by given companies, etc. We are so lucky to have units like the Extreme, the SSV, the PD, the VG, the Vaporstar, and on and on, you know...but this is still a marketplace which is both fresh and wild. There are so many shady deals and shifty vapes, and there is much misunderstanding and ignorance. People perpetuate lies to cover up their ignorance instead of admitting it and learning from people with experince or *gasp* getting up and seeking the experiences for themselves. So yes, the underhandedness and dishonesty is something we, as the obvious "consumers", must decide to address and repel. Clearly we are so much more than consumers, though...I hate being a "consumer". I do more than consume. I am a person, damn it. But yes...in this scenario, we are the input segment of the feedback loop, and our money actually does hold some power to sway the direction this "marketplace" churns towards. So my aim is not leveled at the Volcano. Rather, I just want to see a more widespread understanding about vaporizers and related health issues, as it could really give the Cannabis movement another big push... I know it's a topic that's been breached many times before, and it is accordingly not necessarily new...but a large scale exposure of "average" Cannabis users to accurate information about vaporization and the benefits, differences vs. combustion, methods, etc. might really change some lives. I am all for differing opinions and I don't mean to pick on any single vaporizer, but the Volcano is just somewhat of a poster child for overpriced vapes. :p

"I wish this site was around when I first started vapping..." I feel that desire man, hell I share it. I had to learn my lesson with a rash purchase, funded by ignorance...and more than that, the whole experience of launching into vaporization without understanding enough about it coupled with the fact that I was using a shitty (IMO of course) vaporizer just totally turned me off from the technology as a whole. So basically, due to my ignorance/impatience I got "ripped" by a less than quality company (again, of course, this is only my opinion) and then due to my ignorance regarding the true state of vaporization technology I got turned off from further experimentation, abandoned my search, and went back to daily combustion for over a year. Who is to say where my body would be and what progress I'd have made if I negated that whole circumstance altogether, and say got a SSV or something like that right off the bat? Well, it didn't happen that way. I'm just so thrilled that now I've seen the light. And tasted the vapor ;). I don't know that I'd have gotten up the confidence again if it weren't for this place. Y'all are good people to lean on for some courage. Clearly, I believe in vapor now!! Two vapes purchased in like three or four weeks! Haha, sign me up fellows I'm fucking GAME!

The $669 Digit price has remained steady, but the exchange rate has varied a little. Vaporizers.ca charges $5 shipping in Canada, so today a Canadian Digit is $713 delivered, from that dealer. The Digit has a two year warranty, vs. three for the Classic, so that says a lot about their confidence in their new gadgetry. :/ Between inaccurate displays and more potential for breakdowns, I think digital is more of a curse than a plus for vaping, at least to this point.

I had to learn my lesson with a rash purchase, funded by ignorance...and more than that, the whole experience of launching into vaporization without understanding enough about it coupled with the fact that I was using a shitty (IMO of course) vaporizer just totally turned me off from the technology as a whole. I beat you to that club membership too. :/ My first vape choice was worse than yours. At least you got a convection unit. Mine was the 'suck your brains out for a little vapor' BC Vaporizer. I also allowed impatience (and sticker shock) to lead me down the wrong road. Unlike you though, I was more driven to find an alternative to smoke. My lungs were organizing a 'no smoking strike' and I needed a solution to prevent a breakdown in my much needed THC processing. After a day or two with the BC POS I realized that vapor was my answer but I needed a much better processor. I immediately started the research that I should have done in the first place. My initial misstep really pissed me off since normally I do very thorough info gathering before I buy a product I'm not familiar with. :bang:

I hear you Max, with the "Lungs organising a no Smoking Strike" Beautifully put Bro, My Lung's were just not going to keep up with the Task of Smoking 30 to 40 cigarettes per day interspersed with 3- 4 cones of half&half mix say 15 to 20 times a day (really didnt count, but it's an close estimate, not trying to Blah blah) By the way i "Was" getting infections in the corners of my fingernails( feeling numbness in the limbs) short of breath , And "Still" refusing to conciously see that i was in trouble, that was prior to joining this forum, so nearly 3 months later from that and im a Different Bloke.

I am just so Gratefull freinds encouraged me to pony up for a personal computer, all else has followed from there, for the record i organised an interest free loan for it, that has since been repaid that was about a year ago. I really have to get more organized around here...I keep missing shit, and I'm not using subscriptions or any of that useful stuff. :/

A vapor connoisseur is still nothin' but a stoner in their soft, fleshy, trichome encrusted heart.

Anyways, in an update that should have been submitted days ago...I heard back from 7th Floor the day after I last posted in this thread [after realizing that our time zones did not match up well enough for calling directly to be convenient, and then shooting them an e-mail that same night (09/03)]. They were very nice, and Tina was very attentive and got me the info I was looking for pretty much straight away. They submit the package to USPS before actually shipping it, so it was "Electronically Submitted" on 09/05, whatever that means. At any rate, I just checked the USPS tracking and I see this: Into Foreign Customs, September 09, 2008, 6:08 pm, CANADA. Woooo-hoo! That might mean I COULD have my hands on my very own SSV before the end of this week. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, local service is the pits...but here's to the outside chance! :brow:

I can't wait to see what it looks like, so the unkown glass factor at this point is sort of a focus of anticipation...but more than anything I can't wait to get a nice, thick, tasty rip. As a predominant pipe smoker the PD fits my day to day like a magic super sexy glove, but before stepping away from combustion I hadn't forgone bongs completely...and I'm loving vapor so much these days that I just can't WAIT to sink into a juicy, fat, SSV vapor rip. Woo doggy.

tokinGLX reports that 7th Floor has a backlog of 1500 orders. :o I don't know how many they can crank out per day, but at the rate of 50 SSVs and/or DBVs a day, they could stay busy for a month and a half. Gives you an idea of not only how well 7th Floor is doing, but how many people are moving from smoke to vapor.

Aighty busy night here at casa de PV so I've got to be quick like a hawk. I was just really curious about something.

My SSV is here--it's in the city and was out for delivery today. Unfortunately I missed it (gotta work to pay for that thing, I suppose). Actually, the first time around I was home...and my dog let me down! We had a spat in the morning so I guess he just didn't feel like barking at the mailman... Anyways, the point is I picked up the delievery stub all stoked because, as far as I know, I can actually pick it up tomorrow. I know tomorrow is Saturday, but the post here is strange and I won't be picking it up at a postal office...more of a hole in the wall :p. A hole in the wall that's open Saturdays. Soooo...all being straight, I should have my hands on that bitch by tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the confusing part: when I got home there was another stub on my door, from a totally different courier company? I am not expecting ANYTHING except my SSV, and I run a tight ship so I tend to know what's going on when, especially when it comes to the mail...anyway...that's a totally different subject...:p The point is I'm wondering if 7th Floor would ever send multiple shipments, for some reason? Honestly it is all I can think of at this point. I suppose it's not a big deal, I'll find out eventually...yet not knowing does sort of bug me, so I thought I'd ask. I'm hoping that the SSV is the first slip I got (which was from Canada Post, so that's most likely...) since I should be able to pick that up tomorrow. The other package (Purolator) isn't retrievable until Monday. I'm just curious if anyone has any idea what this might be about. I would normally never ask because it's probably just a coincidence but really, I have racked my brain as hard as I've got the energy for at the moment, and I just can't for the life of me think of what else it might be. I am SURE that the only thing I was waiting to receive is the SSV..??

Has anyone here had an order split by 7th Floor??

As a matter of fact, I've heard that's happened. Why? A screw up I'm sure. ;)

I doubt the Purolator delivery is 7th Floor. Even if they left something out and shipped a 2nd box they'd use the same delivery process. Post office is the much preferred carrier both ways across the US/Canadian border.

Let me know what your glasswork looks like. I'm really curious to see if you got what you wanted, or even close to it.

Thanks max, you're always quick to assuage my neurotic mind.

That makes a lot of sense, and I should have thought of that right away. I assumed the Canada Post would be my SSV, as about 95% of the time when I get something imported it comes to my door via Canada Post. MOST of the stuff I import, anyway...;)

You can be sure I'll post pictures as soon as I have my hands on this unit. There will be pictures on this thread well before I get a chance to use the SSV, in fact! I don't want to risk hitting it before work tomorrow! A couple of PD bowls is just the right thing to send me on my way (to work...heh), but I don't think I'll be pushing my luck...even if the excitment is killing me. :p

More pics will come. I'm really pleased...everything is tasteful and very very blue . I love it, and I was fortunate to make it out to the "hole in the wall" earlier than I'd anticipated. That means I've actually had opportunity to TRY the beast. Wow. Impressed I am. :o :ko:

I don't have time to say much right now, but I really will just have to come back on Sunday or something and talk about the SSV and some other things...hopefully. I have other stuff to say about the SSV for sure; I haven't had much chance to use it (1 medium small bowl (most likely the "proper" sized bowl), 1 very small bowl, then a very full bowl...:ko:). I'm really impressed. That was over the course of an hour or so and it's like, wow, bam...to the fucking moon. I don't know if it's owed to all my recent usage of the Purple-Days or what, but I nailed this thing right away. The drawing feel of this vaporizer is extremely clean, easy and intuitive. Didn't take much to find the heaters sweet spot, either. Also, the knob is well featured for remembering "where you're at", temperature wise :ko:.

One other thing I have to say right off the bat is it's maddening (for me) to watch that Cannabis get sucked up into the bowl--the different "style" of each of these vaporizers (PD-SSV) is all too apparent right from the first usage. I can't wait to explore more with my SSV, it's a totally different vaporizing experience for me right now, but man I'm glad I have the option of different vaporizers, for different times. Seemed like an extreme luxury to me in the beginning but I don't know it seems like a great investment at this point. Vaporizing rules, the SSV rules even if does pretty much immediately bring out the MJ hog in me; I fucking loooove this shit for everything it is, and it's so tasty and simple! I need to go get a drink of H2O now and quench the massive thirst these staggering, thick hits have brought on me. marcuss has known where it's at all along! Life is better above the clouds! ;)

You have great taste in colors and design.
Well taste is subjective, but I also share his admiration for the sort of 'two tone look' vs. the 'every color in the rainbow' style 7th Floor has favored. It's tough to get exactly the design you want unless you see something on their site to at least use as a starting point. I got my 'blue look' as well but I had to order pieces and replace the originals, since they had no option for 'choose your color preference' when I bought mine, and their price for a 'customized' SSV was more than I wanted to pay.

I see you got the new style wand pv. Looks like the tubing fits perfectly. The extra wands I bought with my new glass pieces are the new ones, but I haven't used one yet. Did they include the hemp bag? They're supposed to be throwing that in for free, but I see no confirmation of that on the site.

I know you're gonna love the contrast between your two vapes. I think they're both very forgiving in how you draw, but the hit size is the big difference and it's so nice to have both vapes around to suit your mood. ;)

hmm its the aesthetics that still have me hung up on the ssv, the extreme is full of functions but the ssv just looks so badass! especially with all that custom glass
that and the fact that i can get the ssv for 75 cheaper, but thinking beyond that i have to think which of them id regret not getting the least, at least for now ;)

honestly i dont think its suited for my lifestyle, that may change, but it seems its more suited to someone who will spend an entire day vaping, wake and bake most definately isnt my style, but maybe im just rambling on.

efficiency is something i just cling to for some reason, although im sure it will become much less relevant when i can start growing

mostly the warmup time puts me off, but it actually is on my list, its just that the other two units have higher priorities, the pd will be the unit i get to "complete my collection" but the other units have more appeal to me atm

that being said, my mind restructures ittself overtime so whos to say that i wont suddenly take a shine to it?

Not mine either, so I don't see the connection. The 30 min. warmup is only an issue for me if I want a cold startup in a portable situation. On a timer during the week and on 24/7 during the weekend makes that a non issue for me. Not trying to talk you into or out of any particular purchase though. Can't go wrong with any of these three.

The PD's efficiency will save you enough $ to add a vape while you're only semi-famous. ;) Don't fail to consider the DBV either when you look at the Surfer. It doesn't get much press here, but it's selling like crazy and has a ton of fans.

I'm loving my ssv. Awesome vapor hits that are thick and milky. It is on par with the evolutions unit that it replaced. I got the rainbow colored one which looks mostly black unless the sunshine directly hits it. I really love the look of this machine and it's functionality is also top notch. I've opted to vape on a lower temp and have thinner vapor because I found it to taste better that way. I have turned it up to around 3 o clock on certain occasion to get super thick hits which were really fun but I for me, I prefer the lighter vapor.
