Wilma even slept on the very steep hill where she would always get in. She did it to show us we got her........this time.

Stubborn gal... she'd better watch out or she's going the same route as Fred sooner than later!

Doing a little website work this beautiful Friday afternoon.
Letting FC members know before the rest of the world finds out.
Only 4 but all beauties.......Walnut, Redwood, Myrtle and......Sweeeeet Ambrosia Maple. I still have to shoot, edit, etc so it will be awhile yet.

Wilma is staying in her space. I should add she is a heifer in heat, an 'older' heifer because she turned down the bull last fall....or he was just not UP to the job. Whatever, she is a feisty little bitch these days. Good time to test our fencing abilities. The grass really is greener inside Howling Hills since we have been spreading compost on our terraces for 5 years. Poor little Black Angus girl. We'll get her to a bull soon. A bit too early as Bovines are just like humans, 9 months from doin'it til baby. Middle of winter is not a good time to calf.

I don't think water is for me at the moment, but I'm definitely ordering one of those glass tooties. Although, I should probably order before the new ones are put up. :mmmm: (seemed appropriate)

IS there any difference in performance between the primo wood zaps and the regular ones? I think it's just aesthetic but I just wanted to know for sure. I joined fc to help me buy a new vape after my EQ passed, and hopefully I'll have enough money to buy one very soon.

It's not as much a difference between primo and regular as it is a difference in wood density. Softer woods will often run at a hotter temp. Now, there could be a primo that is black locust and a primo that is sumo and they could run at slightly different temps. Same could be said about two of the regulars made of two different woods.

The term Primo, in the case of the CRZ, stands more for the wood grain than the temperature. :)

What type of wood do you think I should look for? The sweetspot usually for me is 190 Celsius. At least that's what it was when I used my EQ. Although a log that runs higher wouldn't necessarily steer me away from it either. But I would like a vape that atleast can do more or less 190. Or do most if not all of the rockzaps run around this temp or higher?

JustOnCloud9, welcome to Zapville. I think all our Zaps run very close to what you want in temperature with the Redwood and Western Red Cedar just a little bit hotter. I have been testing them all a bit 'more better' lately and find them all very very close in temp. I have been paying more attention to size and wood density of each piece when I turn them so they are very consistent on heat.
The 'Primo' category, as mom said is about the grain figuring and color and also the availability of the wood species. It has nothing to do with heated air produced.
My opinion of course but I do believe the CRZ is the closest to the PD in performance of currently available log vapes.
I will be putting a few more up in the next couple hours.

Thanks Rick. The myrtlewood rockzap loooks gorgeous by the way. The choice of which vape I'm gonna buy is tough. Always flip flopping in my mind :/. It's one of those good problems really, since all the vapes I'm considering look top notch.

I respectfully disagree. I would put my black locust CRZ up against any other log vape and expect to win. Thick white clouds trickling down into some wispy ones. Averaging a good 5-10 hits per stem. It is a beast. The PD I had couldn't compete. Even my "cooler" running one with the "bluish" vapor outperforms the PD.

The PD had a pretty good performance, My CRZ has out-fucking-standing performance. My opinion, of course.

You found out the secret!
They are not Gremlins though.. they are actually ZapNanobots.
I revealed my plans for this long ago, but my error at the time was to have the nanobots planted in the actual Zap units.
When Rick invented the ceramic RockZap, the Solid Stainless Steel Heat Port combined with it's external ceramic sleeve left precious little room for my Nanobots, that complained relentlessly about the warmth down in the bowels of the Zap.
I have recreated these guys, in a smaller version, and they are planted in the actual Zap Stem screens!
Tjhey are extremely small, and the herbal system they use incorporates a new technology that incorporates auto feminized Super short flowering time auto-flwer dwarf plants that the nanobots recycle as we sleep... eat... and even hit the stems. Using an electron microscope, I was able to get this video footage of the guys at work~

My goodness Vito! I've been wondering why the screens have been doing a strange thing lately when I install them. I check to make sure they are seated properly and I have a hard time seeing through the screens. They kind of glitter or sparkle or some such thing.
When you told me you wanted to bless the entire bag of screens, I actually thought you were a little whacky but now I know! Holy Cows! or should I say Holy Nanobots?
You did do a bad though. Zaps do not have bowels. They have other mid body plumbing but not bowels.

......but now I know.........what???????

We had some more important farm work that took most of the day and more time from Zapville today. I should be able to ship a bunch of Zaps Tuesday. Must have been a big game or something over the weekend as the Zapville Depot was sure busy. Probably will be a few days before we get more CRZs up.

hahaha, nanobots, hahahahah You whipper snappers and yer fancy technology...hahaha

The other day I was just sitting there puffing away, not realizing how long it was taking to cash a stem I started the night before. It's like some descriptions of attaining enlightenment (from books I've read by Ram Dass), when you become conscious of it you lose it. I became aware that I had not loaded the fresh bowl I originally intended for this particular session. I took one last hit that was so substantial it was clear there was more goodness. I put the stem down 'till later. When I came back to it, I couldn't even get one wispy hit. I realize this is usually how I experience those special stems.

Actually, Rick, there's one silly set of questions I always have wanted to ask you every time I use my CRZ. I've used a good number of vapes, including several of the 'stem goes into heating element' variety. Yours really does seem more special than others like it I've used. The chamber is small, it packs easy and it unloads super easy. Just blow it out. I never feel like I've failed to extract what I want from a given bowl. I never have to stir! It's unnervingly low-maintenance to use a CRZ. Everything else I've owned or used is more of a fuss and mess. Honest!

So I suppose what I am asking is: Just how much study was placed into the dimensions of the heat port and the stem bowls? That really does seem to be where the magic is happening and I imagine there had to have been multiple revisions until a set of dimensions were found that performed the best. I'm not even sure if the stainless steel tip is a standard part you can order online or not. It really does feel like other vape designers can actually get this wrong and suddenly it's a mess and fuss to manage their stems. Typically anything with a wider/deeper bowl I have to scrape out to get clean since blowing isn't enough and I gotta stir.

Does this date back to the Eterra? I know the PD and Zaps apparently shared the same bowl dimensions or at least the stems were interchangeable, but I've never owned a PD. I dunno, this feels far more designed/engineered to me so I figured I'd ask the artist himself.

Sorry for the really dorky question, it's just something I appreciate every time I use the CRZ, so I figured I'd ask about it. Perhaps it really was a happy accident!

Ennui, there are no dorky questions on this thread. Maybe a dorky answer or two from the head dork though.
We have always stayed very close to the original Eterra design with the small bowl(stem tip) inserted into the heatport/heat exchanger with additional heatport mass to moderate and even the heated air through the load.
Over the years I have tried a change or two. Bigger bowl, deeper bowl, no additional heat mass, more mass, etc etc but I keep coming back to what works for us.
When we re-designed to an all stainless steel(electro polished to a surgical grade finish) heatport last summer, we kept to that basic design and only made very small changes over the last several months. We have increased the airflow just a little by opening up the 4 air intake holes at the top and bottom of the heatport by a few thousandths and we have tightened up on the fit between the stem tip and the heatport. Minor, subtle changes that improved the Zap air flow.
We continue to use the same design because it works. The airflow in a Zap IS restricted by design to insure a smooth and steady vapor experience with no combustion possible when using the standard 12 volt DC transformer. We believe our design is just right for a super vapor experience while also allowing for maximum efficiency in extracting vapor. A very small tip load will go a long way. I do think one of the Zaps main attractions is how well one can conserve meds with this design.

For sure our design has a niche market as do most Vapes. Some folks like their Vapor rush delivered in a different way. As I have said before, ours is more of a turtle vape. Slow and steady and easy does it. Lots of different ways to get to the finish line.

Today Is a good day my order has been placed I want to thank Vito for pointing me in this direction and Rick for creating beautiful pieces of functional art. Proud to say I am an owner thank you all.
